 I thought like Boonie said the underfoot cushioning was really nice, provided all day comfort, I thought the stability was at a premium, I love the addition of the dyno wall on the lateral side, it really helped with stability when moving side to side and planting and stopping. And I really enjoyed the traction, I thought it was a little bit slicker so I could slide easier in and out of my shots, and as far as the fit goes, I went with the D width, I know there is a wider version, I chose to go with the D, it still fit my foot relatively well, so I did have an issue there. I did have a couple negatives and they kind of went hand in hand, I typically have a little bit of heel slippage with gel resolutions, so I had to use up the last eyelet on this shoe to kind of get a tighter more supportive fit, and because ASICS chose to use a thinner lace and I was cinching up using the last eyelet, I was getting a little bit of pressure on the top of my foot, not terrible but noticeable, but overall I love the subtle updates to this shoe and I think it is the best gel resolution yet. Next up on the review we have Chris, and like myself you were a big fan of the 7th generation, previous one, as well as a big fan of the ASICS Court FF2's, how did the Gel Res 8 stack up against some of those shoes? I am really loving the Gel Res 8, I think it is a perfect update, it addressed a lot of the issues I thought, there were some niggles with the 7, but I still thought it was a dynamite shoe, this one has just perfected it for me

3, so Gel Resolutions have been my go to for a while, this one does not disappoint. Right out of the box I noticed that the upper material was much softer and pliable feeling compared to the 7, I had a bit of a break in issue with the 7's, it took about a week or two, these ones, just a couple sessions and I felt ready to go. I like the overall flexion of the shoe, I felt like heel to toe, they just move really well with my feet. The toe box and the shape of the front of this shoe is just perfect, it just pairs with my toes very well, it is one thing for a stability, durability shoe, I never get any toe jamming with these shoes like I have with other high stability shoes like Barricades in the past, so I just love that aspect, they are solid, they are stable, but they still give me that comfort, in the midsole, the gel cushioning has always worked well for me, it is kind of a firmer feel, maybe a little firmer than the Court FF2 for me, but there is enough material there where it just really pads my landings and I never feel any harsh impacts, so really loving this shoe, it even has a lighter feel than the 7, but it didn't sacrifice any lateral support, the DynaWall does a really good job of that, stopping and starting in a lateral direction is just great

Asics Gel Resolution 8 Tennis Shoe Review - YouTube

The sizes are misleading. Purchase a full size above your standard shoe size.

 For me when I think Gel Res I think support stability and durability and this 8 knocked it out of the park with ankle issues I'm always kind of wary of support and stability and I had nothing here. I had no extra room within the shoe so my feet weren't moving around. I did use that extra eyelet to get that nice locked in feel at the heel but my ankles were nice and safe and secure and I didn't even have any soreness after playing which is always a plus for me. Yeah agreed, I did actually use that last eyelet

 I do that with I think all ASIC shoes I always tend to use that last eyelet because I have some heel slippage otherwise. I really did find them to be just like a resolution, super stable, really cushioned and very durable and I didn't feel with all that durability and that stability they didn't feel too heavy to me they just they moved with my feet. Yeah and I would like to say about the traction it's nice that they haven't done anything too crazy so still getting the same traction and the weight seems to be perfect it doesn't ever feel too heavy or anything like that so really happy in that category too. Now the Gel Reset is not necessarily the lightest shoe it's not like a solution speed but that's okay for me you know it is that supportive and stable shoe so I'm expecting a little bit of weight and I think ASIC does a really good job of redistributing that weight so you don't feel like you're weighed down

 It felt like it really absorbed any of the shock. Yeah for me I do have those wider feet and I did have a break-in period with these shoes. I actually skipped the last iteration and they were a little bit narrow for me. These feel a little bit more accommodating

 It was a really great start to the playtest. Yeah I have to agree with you Michelle, I'm really really liking this iteration. I think it's fitting my narrow foot really well and I did have a little bit of a break-in period but I kind of expected it because I've had it in the past but it was short. You know it was one to two hours and after somewhere in that second hour of hitting all of a sudden I just felt this like feeling like the shoe kind of loosened softened up and kind of really molded around my foot and I just really loved that plush cushioning underneath

 I didn't notice it during play but after I'd be sitting at my desk and I'd feel some soreness in my forefoot, just the shoes are a little bit narrow. Thankfully there is a wide version, unfortunately I wasn't able to test it but there is that wider version for people who do have wider feet which is a nice feature for this 8. Definitely and I think if we're fans of the Gel Res 8 we know to expect support and stability and this update was super supportive, really stable. I know they added some new technology into the shoe and I was super confident moving aggressively in these

This pair was tight to put on - very narrow and stiff and I had to really squeeze my foot in. But I thought I’d try it out as I thought perhaps it had to do with the extra support needed for a court shoe. After 2 sessions, I got blisters on my inner ankles where the shoe has rubbed - feels like the ankle bit sits high and my feet feel tight in them when I play. Hoping they will loosen with time

 At the same time, they're not overly rigid, which can sometimes lead to discomfort. One area where I do think the shoe could use a bit of improvement is the width of the outsole at the forefoot, which would further enhance the shoe's stability during side-to-side movement, but as is, I still thought they were great. When it comes to traction, I found the ASICS Gel Resolution 8 to be well balanced. There's plenty of grip to ensure solid footing, but they also offer adequate give when lunging for a ball on hard courts, which aligns well with my preferences

 You'll also find a slight wrap up the heel as well. Unique to the Gel Resolution 8 is that it doesn't offer a mid-foot shank for stability, which you'll usually find exposed at the bottom of the shoe toward the middle. At the midsole, these shoes make use of a generous dose of ASICS flight foam throughout the length of the shoe for responsive and lightweight comfort. You'll also find ASICS gel cushioning technology integrated into the heel and mid-foot to help absorb shock during aggressive movement

 With that said, let's get started with the Gel Resolution 8 Specs so you know exactly what you're getting with this shoe. The Gel Resolutions I have on hand weigh in at 413 grams or 14.6 ounces in a men's size 10.5, which is an excellent weight for a shoe that emphasizes durability and stability

 Finally, for the heel counter, ASICS implements a torque control feature to help maintain a locked-in feel during aggressive movement. Now that you know exactly what to expect from the ASICS Gel Resolution 8, let's jump into my playtest and review. To help evaluate the ASICS Gel Resolution 8, I went on a 2-mile run to gain a feel for the comfort and weight of the shoes. Regarding fit, the shoes are excellent

Nice shoes for indoor pickleball play but runs very small and narrow. Be prepared to order at least a size and a half up from your normal dress shoe size.

 You know, they had a lot of time to break in because it's a polyurethane upper. They really aren't the most comfortable when you first step into them, they can be a little stiff. But after four months, they've become a lot more plush. They fit my foot a little better, they accommodate better, and really not a lot of wear because of that really strong polyurethane cage that goes around the whole face of the upper

 It's not acting as the harness that it used to. Even the truss stick system and that polypropylene external heel counter just really don't hold up after four months like they do when the shoe is brand new. But what did hold up just eye-poppingly well on this shoe was the Dyna bar and the outsole tread. Now starting with the outsole tread, remember this shoe was used 50% on clay, 50% on hard

 So even though you are getting a better fit and a little bit better feel when you first go into the shoe, once you actually start playing in them, you can really start telling how that midsole is just really not giving you a lot anymore. It just really not holding your foot up. It's not acting as the harness that it used to. Even the truss stick system and that polypropylene external heel counter just really don't hold up after four months like they do when the shoe is brand new
