Arc'teryx Fission SV

I bought a Fission SV for balmy Toronto winters, and it’s perfect for my needs. But I was disappointed when one of my pocket seams came apart after only one winter of use (it is a rather expensive jacket, after all). So I contacted Arteryx; fully expecting them to direct me to a local tailor for repairs. Arteryx instead declared that my issue was a manufacturing defect, and they offered me full replacement credit (that can be used for anything on their website).

The jacket overall is nice. However, I didn’t use it much because the weather was not very cold this last winter. I used it maybe twice or thrice and the front zip is stuck and doesn’t close when I shut the jacket but the zip does move up and down easily when I don’t try to close the jacket by bring...

Get the Fission SV. Best all around insulated jacket in the Arc range IMO, I've had mine for 4 winters. Since you're from a tropical climate, -10 will feel very cold to you, especially if you add a windchill on top of that.

Outstanding jacket. Much warmer than I predicted. I bought a large and I'm 5'11 190 lbs, chest 44 waist 35 sleeves 34.5. Fits great w room for layers. Main complaint is the zipper is cheap for this kind of jacket. The two sliders and is sometimes tough to align at the bottom prior to zipping.

Yep got my Atom AR this season because I needed a FW jacket that wasn't my Fission SV or Thorsen. Wore it out and about today in 0 celsius with a t-shirt and was plenty warm. Great purchase.

So I live in MN and this time of year can get really cold. I wore this today (-20 f w/ windchill of -50 f) on a two hour bike. Short sleeve dryfit, w/ quarter-zip fleece mountain hardwear, and then this jacket. I was perfect the entire time. It actually got a little too warm but that was easily fixe...

I find that the Arcteryx sleeves are way too long on some of their parkas and the cut isn’t great. I tried on the Fission SV and old Therme at the outlet this past weekend and both are bulky and have ridiculous arm lengths.

I love this winter jacket I got mid-winter this past year. It's not too bulky and provides much warmth and protection. Can wear a shell underneath for ultimate warmth. Looking forward to wearing this all winter long!

Also, probably an interesting choice, but the Fission SV. Not a highly active piece as I think is normally the favorite item class here on this forum, but certainly the best "all encompassing" winter jacket I've ever owned. It's warm as hell, relatively light, relatively breathable, looks great, full and proper goretex shell, and reasonably durable in terms of its synthetic insulation. It's bombproof weather armor for winter and I've been obsessed with it since I purchased mine in 2019.

Hood looks a tiny bit wierd, but it keeps everything but my nose cold. Great pockets and everything really great coat, very very warm. Haven't felt cold wearing it all winter. Very waterproof nothing leaks.
