And even if it doesn't light on fire, it is really outdated when compared to modern printers. The acryllic frame warps easily, it has no automatic bed leveling, no stepper motor drivers (meaning it's loud as balls), the belts loosen over time, leading to layer shifts and lower quality. Don't get me wrong, I have an Anet A8 myself, although I have modified it enough that I don't think it can be considered one anymore... Overall, I would not recommend a stock Anet A8 for anyone.

The printing results are quite good, but I want to upgrade to a Prusa Machine, the fear, that the Anet starts to burn when I'm printing longer prints/prints over night is frightening :D I want to keep my Anet A8 and print with it, even when I own a Prusa machine. Now I'd like some suggestions, which Printer I should buy, i3 MK3S+ or the Mini?

A8s need to have the firmware upgrade to marlin, the best bed soldered to the connectors and at at least one MOSFET for the bed and ideally one for the hot end as well. The power supply is not terribly dangerous, but it's under powered and known to fail.

I started with an \*ahem\* Anet A8, and I haven't missed the bigger print area at all. It's very easy to fall into the trap of "bigger is better", but because big prints take DAYS, I only ever printed one model on the Anet that wouldn't fit on the Mini.

I will start out and say that I am very pleased with this printer so far. It has been lots of fun and I have gotten great prints so far. Now for the reason it lost a star. The biggest reason is that the description states you get 1kg of filament and instead I got a .5kg roll. Even the cheapest stuff...

I'm sick of my Anet A8 that's been a trusty companion for god knows how many years but it's falling apart at the seams because I print too much for it these days. I'm located in Austria, I'm looking for something that can handle a high amount of printing (lots of prototyping), so most important things are speed, build volume and reliability/convience.
