AKG k240: Very "interesting" tuning. I don't quite know why they would call this a studio headphone.

The AKG K240 MKII are semi-open, critical listening headphones with an above-average sound. They're comfortable to wear and deliver an immersive audio reproduction. Unfortunately, they're not the most versatile headphones. They perform poorly in loud environments and their bulky, cumbersome build is a bit unstable on the head.

I wanted to experience open-backs, so I went with **AKG K240 MKII**. And it was such a disappointment. They need a decent amp, which I **can't afford**. I'm no expert in this field, but vocals and guitars are muddy and muffled.

I mainly bought these headphones as I wear glasses and normal over the earphones press the temple supports that go over the ears into my head with a pressure that over time will cause discomfort. My main issues were with the build of it - the plastic construction caught my hair a lot and the build quality has been less than stellar, with its cable connector failing now; which is why I'm looking for a better replacement rather than re-buying. Some headphones I've been looking at as replacements in my own research thus far are the AKG K240 and the Grado SR-60e, and any other recommendations are of course welcome.

Perhaps I'm just used to closed back designs but these headphones let so much room / ambient noise in they compete with the sound coming through the earpieces.

I helped my little brother pick out a pair of Akg k240's and I thought they were pretty good. I started looking for akg headphones to upgrade my current setup, and I found these. They don't sound that different compared to my sennheiser HD 58x but these are so comfortable. I have always liked to frictionless headband style, but the soft leather headband and earpads make these feel like they honestly float on my head.
