3F UL Lanshan 1

It is a tent we'd call 'bombproof' here. Pitching this type of tent (SMD Lunar, Zpacks Duplex, 3F UL Lanshan, GG The Two, Tarptent Stratospire, YMG Swiftline) on rocky-ish terrain isn't necessarily difficult but trekking pole supported tents will look a bit... sloppier on uneven terrain.

You can reduce your tent weight by at least 7 lbs for less than $150 for a 1 person tent (3F UL Lanshan, you'll also need at least one hiking pole for this, or find a nice stick at your campsite). Leave the chair at home, sit on your bear canister instead. Leave the bear spray at home, substitute for bug spray. You don't need a 6-liter water bag or a clean clothes bag or dirty clothes bag (this implies you are also bringing too many clothes), leave them at home.

Get the lanshan 3f ul 3 season. Best priced and driest tent I've used, and I have used it quite an bit in the pnw. It's a clone duplex but silnylon

1.5KG is good if you are looking at a budget tent, but is still a bit heavy. If you are in the return policy though I would return this and get a 3F UL Gear LanShan 2p or 2P Pro (I like the 2p better since it is double walled).

i scored a bunch of dry bags made by 3F UL - the chinese company that makes the Lanshan UL tent - off Aliexpress. super cheap and very good quality

I recently used this 3F UL Lanshan 1P trekking pole tent for 5 nights in Yellowstone. It sells for $119 and I also bought the footprint for $35. The weight and build quality were great. There was plenty of length for me at 5’11”.

Otherwise for something you can get right away I would look at anything from the 3F UL Gear LanShan 2p or 1p, Tarptent Double Rainbow DW, Double Rainbow, Double Rainbow Li, Aeon Li, Stratospire or Stratospire Li tents. If you prefer a free standing tent then the typical recommendations are the Big Agnes Tiger Wall 2p, Marmot Super Alloy 2p, Nemo Dragonfly or Dragonfly Elite 2p, Marmot Tungsten UL 2p, Sierra Designs Meteor Lite 2p or REI Quarter Dome SL 2p. If you are going to a cold destination then I would change it up and get something with a full fabric canopy to control wind gusts and cold. Marmot Fortress UL 2p, Tarptent Double Rainbow DW with the all fabric inner tent, Tarptent Stratospire 2p with the all fabric inner tent.

RecommendationThe 3F UL Lanshan 1 Pro is a solid value for the money.
