Featuring a classic spruce top and sturdy craftsmanship, it's attractive and is the perfect compact size for a young player or even for a travel guitar. We were also pleasantly surprised by the fullness and clarity of the sound achieved from its smaller body. Steel strings will inevitably come with a bit of a learning curve for small hands, but the Yamaha's strings felt soft and pliable compared to the full-sized guitars we tested and will make for a great first guitar experience. Included with this petite guitar was the most robust accessory kit of all, including all the standard tools, plus a capo, a pick holder, and a string winder-- all handy gadgets. There was also some padding on the included case. 
In our testing, we found that all the miniature guitars had pretty glaring intonation problems. The Yamaha was not an exception to this rule, but it was more accurate than the rest, and we found that when it was tuned to itself rather than to an e-tuner, the intonation sounded more spot-on. This may just be an inconsistency that comes along with the shortened neck and shrunken body of mini-guitars. This case also isn't as convenient to carry because it lacks backpack straps.

Best Starter/Kids Guitars (JR1, JR2, APXT2) from Yamaha!

 I recommend the Seagull S6 if you're partial to inexpensive guitars made in North America, or if they're really getting good go for a solid top Martin, Taylor, or Gibson, etc. Shy away from often-times shiny, colorful guitars like Ibanez, Dean, and even Fender. They sound thin and boxy in person, and even thinner plugged in.

 For the value - the JR1 (some call it the FG Junior) is hands down, the best. The baby Martins have a cardboard tone (I believe some are even made of a composite material - yuck). Baby Taylor's sound very nice, but they're about 100+ bucks more, and they don't sound 100 dollars better. These sound great and play well for their size and price

The Best Reasonable Option For Small-framed Players

 It had plays really nice as well and it projects very very well for such a small instrument. you. as I mentioned before, the Jr1 is a three quarter scale guitar. That is the distance from the nut to the bridge saddle is 3/4 the distance of Yamaha full-scale acoustic guitars

 You now I Realize how silly this must look A guy of my height and build to be sitting with such a small guitar in his lap. But let me tell you kids, the JR one is no toy. This is a legitimate musical instrument. Alright, this has a beautiful tone

DO  NOT BUY THIS!  someone mentioned yamaha p45 which is a great keyboard and will be great to learn on but Yamaha also do some cheaper lower end keyboards which is what I learnt on before getting a roland go

Is this a good deal?

 I bought that from Guitar Center. A power supply isn't included with that keyboard, and the staff had picked out the wrong one, so when I got home I had a non-functioning setup. I started looking online for a power supply for it and things were just so far from straightforward about getting the right one (not even the Williams website would tell me what model# of supply I needed, nor even did my email to them asking that question) and I started to think that it was kind of bad of Williams not to even include a power supply with the keyboard. That keyboard is 150 dollars cheaper than the P45 but it's about a tenth as good, I'd say, all things considered, so I returned that and ordered this

 It came within 3 days, which was amazing.  So, I'm satisfied with this P45 and I'd recommend it to anyone with similar needs to mine.

This is a good keyboard for its price. Its value proposition is that it's portable, light enough to lug around to gigs, and decent-sounding enough to just plug in and perform with. It's simple to operate, does what you'd expect it to, and the weighted action is great. I have few reservations about this keyboard as a gigging keyboard

In your budget,  I would just try it out at the person's house and see if it's in good working order. 

7 years ago,  I bought a yamaha p45, which is about the least expensive decent digital piano, in a bundle for $300, which included a bench,  headphones, and a nice wood stand.  That has weighted keys. It's a current model,  so you won't get that real cheap secondhand. That's a decent piano though, a great value

Are there any good electric keyboards for under £100?

 The p45 is compact and it's lightweight. They really got straight to the point on this model and it's slim to only about a foot deep and since it's only 25 pounds easy to move around at home or pack in the car for a gig, and the layout on this board is also pretty simple. Everything is controlled from one button that you hold down and then press the keyboard to change sounds play. Demos use the metronome and a few other things

The piano is basic. It looks basic, feels basic, and if you want no thrills whatsoever then this is the piano for you. The keys have a nice action, the pedal not so much. It's hard to tell if you even have it pressed by feel alone
