So, I bought a cheap ViewSonic M1 Mini for summer days at my mothers cottage. I knew it  was pretty crappy specwise but thought it was worth a chance being so inexpensive. Well, the reviews were pretty correct. In any sort of daylight this thing is useless. But! As soon as the sun is down and you lower all lights its amazingly cinematic in feeling. I actually like the fuzzines of the 480 resolution, especially with older material. It felt like cinema did when I was a kid, and I love it!

So, I've got the projector bug now and looking to maybe replace my tv with something a bit more advanced than my tiny M1 Mini. And here's the rub. Will a HD projector (mind you 1080, not going near 4K) still feel "cinematic" for lack of a better word. Or just more lika a very big TV with worse daylight capabilities? For instance I'm looking at the M2 for this purpose, but not sure how it will "feel".

Any experiences?

HD Projector Still Cinematic in Feel?

I have the viewsonic one. I think it’s a solid monitor, especially at the price it is. I came from 1080p 144hz and the upgrade was quite noticeable. Imo the ips panel is very worth it, it just looks so much better than my old screen

To highlight, my main criteria includes 1440p, 144hz Refresh rate, minimal ghosting (1ms response).

I'm currently sitting on a very mediocre 75hz 1080p monitor which has... 'issues' let's say (It seems to think that white is grey).

I've been looking on youtube etc and found a couple of models that seem of interest and wondered if anyone could help me to understand whether its worth spending that bit more or holding on to it..

1) Aoc Gaming Cq27g2u - This is my budget option at around £260. I've heard that there can be a significant amount of ghosting using this screen but wanted someone to help confirm if this is actually an issue or not. I know it's a VA panel as well which again has it's own limitations. 

2) ViewSonic VX2758-2KP-MHD - Slightly more expensive IPS panel at around £330. Is the move to IPS worth the extra money? It's also very difficult to actually find this monitor anywhere.. Currys b2b seems to be the only viable method and that brings about its own risk assessment!

3) LG Ultragear 27GL83A-B - This is the premium choice, but at over £400 its a huge investment.. is it worth it? Are there are any other choices in-between this and the ViewSonic which may be a good fit?

1440p 144hz on a budget - which to choose?

 Doesn't work either way. My computer recognizes it as a device but can't project to it.  Maybe I am doing something wrong but after several hours of trying different settings it doesn't seem to do the one thing I bought it for. I did contact Viewsonic customer service a week ago but have received ZERO from them

No screen mirroring . .

 The projector has 4 settings for the battery usage. In Full mode, the light is bright but you will only get about 2 hours out of the battery. On Eco mode you can get over 5, but the light looks dim. We have found that Extended Eco gives us about 4 hours of playing time, but the picture still is quite bright

We have a remote, off the grid yurt and we wanted to be able to watch movies with a battery powered projector. I looked at a lot of them and chose this one based on battery length. The projector has 4 settings for the battery usage. In Full mode, the light is bright but you will only get about 2 hours out of the battery

Great for outdoor movies

 Once you begin plugging stuff in (hdmi cable, power supply, etc) to those ports, it becomes a balance issue. Because the weight of the projector is balancing on this lightweight aluminum arm/stand the gravity or tension of the cords that are plugged in end up knocking the projector over quite easily. And because there’s no OS where native apps such as Netflix or YouTube installed, something needs to be plugged in at all times to use this thing. -While the swivel arm/stand gives this impression that there’s an infinite amount of ways you can position this thing, the weight of the actual projector limits this notion

Great looking design gets in its own way

I like it; I just wish it was brighter.  It is certainly a well-made projector and has all sorts of inputs. The onboard sound is actually surprisingly crisp and loud, but if you really wanted to upgrade the audio - you still have the capability of upgrading by syncing with your own Bluetooth speaker system.  The only downside is the brightness really

Good little projector

 We’ve considered cheaper gadget projectors, but after some more research we’ve narrowed the selection down to Nebula Capsule and M1. Both Nebula and M1 are based on DLP technology from reputable brands, WVGA (480p) resolution and have stylish form factor but M1 was brighter at 250 ANSI Lumens compared to Nebula @ 100 ANSI Lumens and less $. WiFi would have been nice but it wouldn’t be much use when camping out of range.  Overall, resolution and brightness is good enough for watching movies on the go

Another big thing to consider is audio, as most projectors speakers are pretty terrible if they have them at all. I ended up going with a 1080P XGIMI Mogo Pro portable, which was on sale for \~$450. It runs Android TV so you can install whatever streaming apps you want directly on the device (except for Netflix). For using Netflix and Stadia I plug in a Chromecast Ultra, which can also be powered off the projector's USB port

Hello. Wondering if anyone can help me find a projector to go in a bedroom. My other half doesn't want a TV in the bedroom but is open to a projector that can be "hidden"

I've done a bit of research and that leaves me in the realm of a portable projector to maybe put on a nightstand and keystone in, then pack away when not using or a short throw to go on the chest of drawers in front of the wall and then conceal it.

I'm not going to game on this, it's purely for the odd time we've gone to bed and one of us wants to watch something. Picture quality doesn't have to be fantastic, just useable. Would be nice for the projector to have its own speakers, and I'm not too worried about in build smarts, can always plug something into it.

Portable or Short Throw for Mid Size Bedroom

0 and dual band Wi-fi, so connectivity shouldn't be an issue. A 65-watt charger is included in the package, as well as this sleek white remote control which has a tiny switch on the base, making the volume keys into a fine focus adjustment if you need it, which you probably won't anyway because it automatically focuses itself. Setting up the device was ludicrously simple. Thanks to the deep Google integration, all I had to do on my phone was say Google set up my device and it transferred over the wi-fi password through bluetooth and then I use the Android Tv url to transfer my login details for my Google account

 Though I would have preferred a slightly larger device which would have allowed them to fit in a larger driver for the speaker and a larger battery. Anyway, thank you for watching. XGIMI Mogo Pro+ Review: Finally, a Decent Portable Projector (Mostly)

 Though its brightness is 300 Nc Lumens, which is not spectacularly bright, but we'll get to that in a second. It's got 40 degree horizontal and vertical keystone correction. It's got dual band Wi-fi supporting both 2.4 and 5 gigahertz wi-fi networks, and it's got bluetooth 4

 I really like that it's silent and the on-board audio is quite good as well. you can hear that. The speaker quality is definitely decent. The only downside I found is that the lower content so the base and the lower mids don't come through as loud as with bigger speaker drivers, so the low end and the base are not as great as I would have hoped for

 It uses around 55 watts of power and it can work with anything from 100 to 240 volts at 50 or 60 hertz, so you should be able to use it globally. Its noise levels are below 30 db, so that's really barely audible. but what is audible are the internal 3 watts Harman Kardon speaker drivers that give you stereo sound. The media could not be loaded. I currently have Towond 6500LUX projector and while it's pretty good projector for its price, I just couldn't resist getting this Xgimi Mogo Pro projector when I saw it at my friend's house so I decided to treat myself and my family and got this for Christmas! I was immediately attracted to this projector when I saw it in action for 2 simple reasons: 1) built-in Harman/Kardon speaker and 2)it virtually has no fan sound! While it's not fair to compare this projector to my previous Towond projector since it would be like comparing a Lexus to a Toyota but one thing that really bothered me with Towond projector was the sound of the fan spinning. Even with the volume turned up high, I was able to hear the loud fan spinning sound when there was no dialog or music in the movie and this got annoying very quickly. This Xigmi Mogo Pro projector has virtually no fan sound even when I'm sitting right next to it! On top of that, the Harman/Kardon speaker is just the icing on the cake

WOW... AMAZING projector for its size 🥰

  After thoughts : I don't use the remote it came with being I plug in my Bluetooth keyboard which works perfect with it. The overall design is good, I've mostly used on table tops as I do move it around so I wish it had the ability to tilt rather than having to prop something under it to get a little angle to it. Simple to use and light weight design. I used Netflix, hbo max, YouTube, with no issues

 Indoors it's pretty loud but if you have a few people over you may want to connect an additional speaker. Outside it's not bad wish it could be slightly louder but definitely able to enjoy in a normal suburban neighborhood.  After thoughts : I don't use the remote it came with being I plug in my Bluetooth keyboard which works perfect with it. The overall design is good, I've mostly used on table tops as I do move it around so I wish it had the ability to tilt rather than having to prop something under it to get a little angle to it

 Anytime the projector is moved it auto calibrates the picture for you.  Sound: Harmon kardon speakers are great. Indoors it's pretty loud but if you have a few people over you may want to connect an additional speaker. Outside it's not bad wish it could be slightly louder but definitely able to enjoy in a normal suburban neighborhood

 Simple to use and light weight design. I used Netflix, hbo max, YouTube, with no issues.

Good quality

 The manual keystone controls did the trick and gets exactly what I want! Android TV is smooth and familiar since I also have a NVIDIA Shield. Remote is much better than average and wireless is a big plus. Then only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is Netflix not yet certified to work. If that happens, will gladly update to 5 stars
