Vantrue S1 vs Vantrue X4

I cannot stress this enough. Stream from two cameras require enough bandwidth that if you skimp on your SDCard, the camera cannot perform at its best and you will get corrupted stream and dropped frames. I recommend a Samsung EVO Plus. - Screen protector on windscreen

As well as there was usb cable in the pack which I’m using to connect camera to my laptop. Those was pros, and now cons. For price $200 I have no chance to watch recorded videos on my phone (IPhone), I can’t put SD card in my phone and can’t connect it wirelessly, so every time when I want to watch video I need to take dash cam to my laptop (mac) use USB to USB C adapter, connect and spend lots of time. Dash cam for $200 does not have 2-nd channel, second cam to record cars driving behind of me

He did great setting this up and trying to teach us how it works. One of the best feature of this cam, it looks and it does a great job. I just wanted to add that the product comes sealed as brand new and not like other products that are open. So that also gave me the security that I am receiving a brand new product in which that is a huge plus

I have come to trust Vantrue over the years and will continue to support their whole camera line. I can't wait to see what they come up with next!

I'm removing this camera from my car, tossing it in the trash, and buying something better this time.

I would have to re-enter all the time & date again. Minor annoyance, but it's very irritating. The sound quality on this dash cam is good as the sound is very clear and easy to hear. The video quality is also good

I tried turning off and on, drove around to clear unobstructed areas but no go. But somehow, it just decided to work the next day and has stayed working since. This camera only records 1080 if using a dual camera set up. Daytime picture is good but might time is very hard to see license plates because of the reflective nature of the plates, it appears as a glowing white plate

You can download your firmware updates from their website, which will reset everything you like about the camera. Capacitor doesn't last. We are use to batteries, that allow devices to sit for a while and record while you are in the store for a short visit, but the capacitor in the vantrue X4 UHD camera does not stay charged, just like most capacitors. The capacitor dies off almost instantly, which is not good if your car does not provide power to the cigarette lighter plug after it has had the key turned off

My perfect dash cam would be a 3 channel cam - Front, inside and rear cam with built in Wi-Fi, Cloud Support, buffered parking mode, LTE connection for notifications. Come on Vantrue - Make it happen! Pros: Very good image quality from the Sony IMX 327 Sensor Super Capacitor battery - perfect for extremely high and low temps Build quality is excellent Very wide angle 170 deg lens Built in GPS Parking mode - you have to purchase the optional hard wire Built in 2" LCD is very informative Takes 256 GB MicroSd cards The downloadable S1 viewer is pretty neat with integrated maps Very good support from Vantrue Cons: The inputs from the front and rear connections are too close/cramp making the removal of the dash cam very difficult whenever I need to download footage Rear cam angled connection is awkward - making the install difficult No Wi-Fi connection - trade off with the 2" LCD screen No Cloud connection Rear dash cam wires are a bit too thick making the install a bit tricky to hide

These are my initial impressions: Pros: Great value for a 4K dash cam, super capacitor means much better temperature tolerance, accepts up to 256GB micro SD, very easy to install and set up. GPS and hard wire kits are inexpensive and easy to install, reliable Cons: Image is good but not great, no CPL filter options (maybe you could rig something), CPL filter really needed due to mounting design, GPS mount further limits installation options, no option to add a rear camera In the end, I've decided to upgrade to a Blackvue 900S. The kit I've ordered costs more than twice as much but includes the 4K front camera, HD rear camera, built-in GPS and hard-wire kit with adjustable auto cut-off voltage. After using the X4 I've decided I really want something more discrete and I should be able to mount the Blackvue under my rear-view mirror cluster which puts it above the mid-line of the windshield with the camera lens pretty close to the glass to cut down on reflections

- Mannual can become better. For example, - the cable direction of connecting front-rear cameras to avoid connecting in reverse - Instillation tips of rear camera: I found out the best location to install rear camera is the top center of rear windshield, but no explanation is written in the manual. I should have installed the rear camera location higher, but difficult to remove the mount due to very strong adhesive tape. The installation would be very simple if there were a bit more explanation on the manual

If you need a great camera, that records great videos, this is an item to look at. I wish I had one when I had an accident when a car swerved in front of me and scratched my front bumper, then they claimed I ht them and caused them big injuries and a lawsuit came and it was a horrible experience as there are many individuals looking to sue anyone for financial gain. Avoid the police report They said, and You said, because insurance companies are looking not to pay at all and both parties are at fault. Avoid the hassles and use a dash cam

My previous camera will hang from the attachment of the windshield. I was concern about adjusting the lens after the attachment, but I can easily adjust the front camera after attachment by rotating the lens. I think this is a far better design than my previous cam. The S1 looks more natural and pleasing

You only also only get 90 degree of rotation, So you can't turn to get a good side shot of something or flip around to record the interior of your vehicle. - This still a bad release design even after months of being familiar with the unit. Just needs the mount release reversed (facing the driver instead of the windshield) and all would be fine - 07/23 As with all cams dash reflection is horrible, have placed a t shirt on dash to combat it - This applies to all dash cams I've seen/tried. Even my cell phone will pick up dash reflection

It loses the recordings. Pic quality was pretty good though, but for the money, time to look elsewhere. It's a shame, I took a lot of care to mount this thing. Update after 7 months: most of the shutdown issues improved with changing from a 256gb Samsung to 32gb

I used a promo code available at the time that I purchased it, and I am grateful for that. I don't think it is worth the nearly $200 price. For that price, features like GPS and an adhesive mount should be included, not purchased separately. I am on the fence between 3 stars and 4
