I have Union Atlas’, I’m old now though and I love my Burton Step On’s. Plenty responsive and the convenience.

I’ve been out of the loop of what companies are top dog in snowboarding gear and I need your guys help with finding some bindings. What are the “go to“ bindings these days ?

 I’ve got some Union Atlas's that I picked up 2 years ago, and I’ve been really liking them. They’ve felt super responsive/stiff to me, but they are the only bindings I’ve been on in the last 10 years aside from the Contact Pros I spent the previous 6 years on (way too soft).

I also use very stiff boots (Ride Insano), so responsiveness is definitely my first priority. Again, I'm not Arthur Longo out there but I like to go fast and push myself to tackle big/technical features. I’ve got some Union Atlas's that I picked up 2 years ago, and I’ve been really liking them.  So here we have the 2019 Union STR binding, this is a all mountain free ride binding, perfect for charging around the whole mountain, riding really fast and for anyone who wants a really responsive binding. This is a medium to stiff flex, so it's going to give you a lot of response and a lot of charging power when going really fast. The high back is the STR symmetrical high back, it is a dual material high back so it's really rigid and promotes a lot of torsional flex so you can transfer your power to your board correctly. On the base plate is a stage 5 duraflex base plate which is a nylon which is super tough and really responsive as well

 On the foot bed it's canted so that allows for proper alignment of your knees to allow for a lot more response and ollie power and also no bad knees. It's really comfortable EVA and padded ankle straps and toe straps with also really reliable metal buckles. I'd say this binding is aimed towards intermediate to advanced riders who want to ride really fast, who want a really responsive binding and want to charge all over the mountain. It's not particularly aimed at beginners or jib or park riding due to the stiffness

 Overall the STR is going to be a great binding for beginner to intermediate riders that are looking for an all mountain binding that is going to be responsive but also budget friendly.  This is going to be a mid-flicks all mountain binding and is geared towards beginner to intermediate riders that are looking for a high performance binding at a budget friendly price. This binding features Union's canton stage 5 Duraflex base and TR16 high back to provide acute response and control in a lightweight package. When you look at the straps on these bindings you are going to notice that it features the Classic Plus ankle strap. It is just going to be a really standard minimal padding strap but it is going to allow for even distribution all across your boot

Union STR 2019 Snowboard Binding Review - Tactics

 I love Union's discs. Being able to adjust properly to get your boot dialed out and centered in the binding. And then to be able to turn your disc this way if you can't, you know, for other people. But for me, I get it centered, and then I can slide it this way

 The boot support's pretty good here. This ankle strap, I wish it had more pre-curve. See how it goes out wide? I wish it was like this and just came around your boot like almost every other ankle strap, but instead it's wide. I don't know how to fix that either

 I don't feel that anymore. Comfort, these things are very comfortable. They're maybe just a shade less than the rest of the line, you know, the more expensive, you know, bindings in their line. But for this price point, great comfort
