TWSBI ECO Black vs Diplomat Elox

Now writing with this pen is where I have my problems. I compared it to the Lamy Safari and Metropolitan Pilot which are both cheaper than the TWSBI ECO and both write several orders of magnitude smoother than the TWSBI ECO. This pen is incredibly scratchy and this was directly comparing to the other 2 pens with 2 different inks. Carbon Ink Black and Waterman Serenity Blue

Unfortunately mine, which is an EF, needed a little tuning out of the box. You shouldn’t have to do that and if I weren’t comfortable tuning it myself I would have sent it back. I do give a little extra grace with EF nibs because it seems like all Western makers have more trouble with the finer nibs than do Japanese makers. After spending about 30 minutes tuning and testing it writes very smoothly and on the wet side with the Diamine Pumpkin ink but still has a bit of a sweet spot
