Knife came out fine, still sharp, but it's best to avoid these situations in the first place.

I did a lot of research before buying this knife and have owned one of these for a few years before ordering another one for my little brother as a graduation gift. The knife holds it's edge really well and is easy to clean. I haven't had any rust issues, but I do hand wash the knife instead of running it through the dish washer. Wish I had bought this for myself a long time ago, quality makes all the difference! Bought a Cutco chefs knife a few years ago when one of our kids was selling them and it was OK. Honestly, I was disappointed but it wasn't cheap and I was determined to get my moneys worth. Finally, I decided to treat myself and after quite a bit of research I purchased the Wusthof Classic Ikon 8-inch knife and I LOVE IT! Why? I don't think you need a bunch of tools in the kitchen, 3 knives really, chefs knife, pairing knife and a good serrated knife, so I expect them to hold up to daily use and multi task. I use this knife for tough skinned squash, cutting up chickens and other jobs when I really appreciate the weight of it, I'm not having to muscle through I also expect my knife to hold it's edge despite heavy work so that it would make nice clean work with delicate jobs like chopping chives, sage, garlic and other herbs without crushing them and this knife does
