I mean, they copied the entire interface even down to the little side settings menu where you adjust the individual device parameters, such as the access point radios, VLANs and all that stuff

 In terms of overall performance, I'll have some more videos coming out here in the near future about the performance of the access points and the switches and we'll go more in depth and, you know, really focus on the features and stuff of these things. But just overall, I have no complaints about the stuff's performance. This access point is a freaking monster and outperforms the U6LR. So it really comes down to the design sacrifices that they had to make in order to meet this price point with the fact that they're a new platform

 So really, TP link, you guys are there on the software level. You guys are there on the hardware performance level. I would love to see you guys up the actual like industrial design, because that's really the only place that you're not competitive right now. This doesn't come close to this

 I could only get about 300 to 400 MB/s from ER2706 vs close to my actual gigabit connection that comes from one of my ISPs. My second internet account is a business account which has a much faster ping (1 ms) or less latency and 600 MB/s download speed, compare to the Spectrum 1 GB/s line with 20ms ping. So with the ER605 I could take advantage of much faster ping like my business line while reaching out to the close to maximum download speed of the faster internet with almost 800 to 850MB/s outcome when merging the two lines. This was obviously the big deal for me and I was surprised to see such outcome from the cheeper device but that was exactly the main reason I bought them both to compare

 The older one is different in the design when you compare the two together. The newer ER605 is the one with more RAM and faster CPU and it's the one I purchased for comparison. The best sign to know the difference between the two is the USB WAN port available on the newer ER605. Now after testing the response time and speed measurements between the two, newer ER605 and ER2706, the two different transmission scenarios on load balancing and link backup with exact the same configuration on web filtering and firewall options, it turns out that the cheaper but newer ER605 with the 4 cores CPU has a mush faster response time as well as much faster internet speed and bandwidth when you set them up for WAN aggregation and the difference with my internet configuration were huge

 I COULD just run this on one of the multitudes of Raspberry Pi units that I have lying around, but like the nerd that I am, I like to have matching hardware.  RMA is being processed now, will update review if the performance changes.

A Very Positive Addition to My Home Network

 To avoid headaches, I say suck it up and buy this thing.  Only downside is that before this I ran the Omada software on windows and on a raspberry pi 3 running raspian and it wasn't great. The raspberry pi especially would constantly lock up. I have a beefier server I could run a container on, but based on the Rpi3 experience I'm happy I just bought this device and can call it a day

 Okay, so I bought this about four or five weeks ago. It was like $59-$60 bucks. Willie did a video on it. He did an overview on it and I was impressed with it then based on the functionality it had for a $60 router

 So here's the power adapter. Here's the Ethernet cable. Sticky felt feet with sticky pads for the bottom if I guess we're going to keep it on a desk and then the actual router itself. So if you kind of get an idea on the size, it's pretty small

 I normally don't and it's probably something I should do more frequently but for something that I have no experience with we're going to refer to this. Let's see what we got here. So here's the power adapter. Here's the Ethernet cable

 No sense in you seeing that. So on the side it's just saying, hold on I need my glasses. That's better. You got 110, 100, 1000 megabits WAN port, 3, 10, 100, 1000 megabits WAN LAN ports, and then 110, 100, 1000 megabits LAN port

 The result? Well my top speed capped out at just over 600MBs down and 830MBs up. Now I do believe that is due to some other configurations that I have in place. The Omada app, is a joke. The limitations of the Omada app compared to the web interface is a night and day difference, and not in a good way

 If you can skip the Omada app, I would highly suggest doing so.  Tech support is pretty responsive, but once you dive deep into the technical aspects, and really deep on throughput, they tend to taper off a bit. I asked very directly what the throughput would be with 2 fiber connections (matched at 1GB each) and they couldn't give me a direct answer. When I pointed out that I was experiencing a slow down, tech support had no idea, but the community was able to point out that the Omada app was the cause with the way it sets up the system

Be careful how technical you go as it overwhelms them easy  So for myself, I bought this to handle 2-1GB fiber connections. The result? I live in a rural area with no physically connected internet, so I rely on cellular-based internet. I also work from home, so I need a reliable internet connection.  For redundancy, I have multiple modems connected to different carriers in case a tower goes down. I have four connections that I use

  I plugged it in and hooked everything up, then went into the settings and set up the multi WAN features. It was much easier to set up than on my previous router, and I was up and running in just a few minutes.  Other than the built-in load balancing, the router isn’t very full-featured compared to a typical home router, but at this point, I don’t really need a lot of advanced features.  The UI is spartan, but functional

 Either a connection would drop and stop working, or the routing would mess up and only use one connection even though it said that all of the connections were working. Most of the time, rebooting the router would fix it, but every once in a while I would need to reflash the firmware and set it all up again. I was getting tired of this, so I decided to try a router with load balancing built-in.  This was priced very affordably, and it was delivered the day after I ordered it

 I WFH full time now and Comcast has cost me several days work so I got a 5G backup and needed a way to connect both of them. This has done a great job, wasn't hard to set up, and has a bunch of features that I'm not using if I want to geek out later.

While I am comfortable with computer hardware (I installed ethernet throughout my home as a COVID project, with 68 cables running to patch panels and switches), I am not a system admin by trade, but I was able to figure this out without phoning a friend

 I waited over a year after rollout to buy this router, and many of those features are now part of the current firmware (be sure to update yours!). So I will likely wait on brand-new TP-Link products, to give them a chance to work out the bugs. But I've read enough complaints about other companies to know that these guys are not alone in frustrating some people. Still, it's worth noting--but not worth docking a point

I bought this router because I wanted to get away from consumer-grade networking devices. And based on reviews I had read, I decided on the TP-Link offerings, including this router (with a couple access points, reviewed elsewhere).  This router is shockingly inexpensive for the features and quality it provides. And with a couple good access points, you can have a better-than-mesh PLUS ethernet setup for less than half the price of a consumer mesh package

 So we're going to log in as admin and I've already changed the password. And a lot of this information that you're going to see here, you can do this in the Omada controller, right? So it's nice that what they provide here is also provided in the controller, but you don't have to use the controller, right? So this is the TR or the TL-R605. It is the safe stream gigabit multi-WAN VPN router. So I did update the firmware on this and TP-Link did send this to me, but they do not get to preview these videos and they do not get to alter my opinions in any way

 I haven't enabled all four WANs and clicked that save button. All right, so we are rebooted. So we'll log back in after entering our super secret credentials. So now you can see that I've got four WAN connections and maybe I'll just hook them up and we'll see how that works out for us

 So there's a few different ways to configure this, which is nice. You can see we've got total traffic under network set up. Here's where we can take a look at configuring the WANs and the LANs. So if I keep checking these boxes, now I've got one LAN, I've got four WANs
