Thinkware U1000 vs Viofo A129 Pro Duo

I'm so frustrated that I'm tempted to find a way to open the unit and cut the speaker out. The video quality is great but I don't need or want any of the other features. A dashcam should be silent and run in the background. It should not constantly click, beep and speak thereby making it the center of attention

Thinkware u1000 dual. Thinkware has the best parking monitoring esp for non collision events. You should have a dashcam anyway. Must be hardwired for parking monitoring

Parking mode is a bit of a mystery to me, though. I've set it up to record in timelapse, but it just keeps on recording in regular mode. Maybe that's just me doing something wrong. Also, the image quality is pretty good on the front camera, but not $250 good

Given the price in lack of longevity, I will not be purchasing again and will look for alternatives either: cheaper or with better longevity track records.

The picture quality is great The features are amazing. Installing it was a pain because I couldn't use the cigarette lighter so I had to hardwire it. The manufacturer does have great video on how to install it, its a good start but I'll advice watching one for your car and ready your car manual before you use any of the fuses. It can be tricky

When installing take a black sharpie or some kind of marker and under the red plastic that you peel off to stick the cameras on the windshields you will see a white strip, color this black first, lest you have a white line you will clearly see through your window. This strip is there to make peeling off the red plastic easy its not sticky where its white. You can guess how I know this. Next tip you will need to buy more stuff or will want to

They "say" SanDisk and Samsung also work with the dash cam, but those cards are not guaranteed. So, if you are stupid like me and trust this company that has a dash cam that provides really great, high quality videos, you deserve to get screwed like we are when the SD card fails because you didn't know to purchase a new one every 6 months, and to format it regularly, or that every camera is supposed to come from Thinkware with their THINKWARE SD CARD that no one tells you about. I've never had a customer service agent start with, reinforce multiple times and end with, it's NOT THEIR RESPONSIBILITY and there's nothing they can do to help. SMH $400 would have been better donated to a charity than these unhelpful souls

I run my dashcam on the highest resolution on both cameras, and the highest bitrate on both cameras, sectioned off into 1 minute clips, both front in rear. The dashcam sections these off into numbers, for example: "20200818_101037R". These break down into the following: 2020 - year, 08 - month. 18 - day, _ - separates the day with the exact time, 10- military hours, 10 - 10 mins, 37 - 37 seconds into the minute, R/F - Rear camera and Front camera respectively
