This lock and key was difficult to operate from the very beginning, but just broke completely on it's last use. We had a struggle getting it off the car without being able to unlock the tension adjustment for the straps/cables holding it to our car. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!! Awful instructions both in the written instructions packed with the bike rack, as well as the You Tube they recommend. Drawings and slick videos do not replace useful instructions

The second issue is that the stirrups or bottom support don't have clamps and bend easily, meaning you want to put enough pressure on the bike you are transporting to create a secure and firm hold on the support, yet the supports are flimsy and bend. I find this to be a rather glaring design flaw and I would be embarrassed if this were my product as this is the reason why I can no longer use this rack and have to spend my hard earned money on another. So let me re-iterate. This is a nice, sturdy and functional rack but there is really no way to tell if your bikes are secure and if you tighten the bikes down too much, you'll break the rack

This is clearly a Thule problem. They have not properly designed the box to handle the weight of the rack. Now for the learning curve: It was actually easy to fit to my car and went on well (I have a 2019 Volvo S60 - which is the model sedan for the rack in the Thule video). However, I had a terrible time getting my road bike onto the rack - it's a carbon frame and needs Thule's frame protector - which adds 1/2" or so to the frame diameter, making the clamping yet more difficult

I was looking for a bike rack that would fit the hatchback style of my Honda civic. Could not find other rear mount bike racks that would fit. With the fit guide from Thule , decided to go with the Outway 2 bike rack. The bike rack fits properly and is easy to put on and remove from the car hatch

There are 2 caveats to my praise that led to the 4 star rather than 5: (1) unlike the Thule that had an easy handle with a key lock to unscrew the rack from the hitch, the Swagman has a simple think screw-bolt and pin (see second photo), so you cannot lock the rack to your car - and putting the rack on and off your car on a daily or per ride basis would be a major hassle - I would have gladly paid an extra $50 to have this option added to the Swagman but did not see in any of their hitch racks; (2) everyone said the assembly was easy - but "easy" is a relative term. I'm a surgeon with good hands and it took me 45 minutes from the time all pieces were out of the box and lined up on the floor until the rack was assembled, on the car, and adjusted to my bike size. Instructions were WORSE than useless as they were full of misguides like telling me to put a screw in without mentioning that a washer goes on first and that the receiving piece had to be fully aligned inside the hitch attachment first. Also no list of pieces included nor list of tools needed and pictures were terrible

A bit pricey, and a bit of work to get it together, but the bike stays secure, and once put together it si easy to put on and take off. Worth the price.
