 This pedal dropped this week, and the first thing that struck me when I unboxed it was right here on the label. It doesn't say amp sim, it doesn't say IR loader, it literally says on the front, amp and IR cab. That's a pretty bold claim. Now, in today's video, we're going to put the Iridium through its paces, show you some of the different sounds that it's capable of

 But that's it. This thing's pretty simple. So I've been living with the Iridium for almost two weeks at this point, and I've played it every single day since unboxing it about two weeks ago. My initial thoughts are, it sounds really good

 So basically this is three amps with three different cabinets for each amp. You have a Fender Deluxe Reverb, a Vox AC30, and a Marshall Plexi. And there's three individual slots for each one of those amps where you can load IRs onto or impulse responses, which are basically models of specific speaker and cabinet combinations. Now when they released the pedal, they also released some software to go with it to manage your impulse responses

Should You Buy The Strymon Iridium?

 So, I've been thinking about something recently.

 I think right now, as guitar players, we're living through a bit of a revolution in how

 we make music and play guitar, specifically around amplification.

 Digital modeling and digital processing of amplifiers is becoming more and more popular,

 and more players are switching away from the traditional tube amp circuit topology and

 Now we all know that modeling and modeling amps and profilers are not necessarily new,

 but what is new, I think, is the explosion in popularity and wide range acceptance of

 guitar players to get into and start playing modeling and digital style amps.

 And because of this, a lot of companies are throwing their hat in the ring.

 The most recent to do so is Strymon with the new Iridium.

 Now, I should mention that Strymon did provide me with the pedal for free to keep, but they're

 not paying for the video in any other way.

 So basically this is three amps with three different cabinets for each amp.

 You have a Fender Deluxe Reverb, a Vox AC30, and a Marshall Plexi.

 And there's three individual slots for each one of those amps where you can load IRs onto

 or impulse responses, which are basically models of specific speaker and cabinet combinations.

 Now when they released the pedal, they also released some software to go with it to manage

 You can add your own impulses or third party impulses from companies like Ownhammer, but

 the pedal does come included with some third party impulse responses, as well as some IRs

 You have a three band EQ, but what's interesting is the mid control has a different feature

 You also have a room reverb, which has three different types of reverb algorithms built

 The pedal is also capable of stereo in and out, as well as having a headphone jack so

 you can use it to practice with or play or record silently.

 And last but not least, there's also a favorite switch so you can store one of your favorite

 presets and recall it whenever you want.

 I do believe this will also work with the Strymon proprietary favorite switch so you

 can add some more presets if that's what you're into.

 So I've been living with the Iridium for almost two weeks at this point, and I've played it

 every single day since unboxing it about two weeks ago.

 My initial thoughts are, it sounds really good.

 In all honesty, these are some of the best amp simulations I've heard.

 They're right up there with something you'd get out of a Kemper, out of a Helix, or even

 I haven't actually played an Axe FX yet.

 I have a lot of experience playing Fender-style amps and Vox-style amps in the real world,

 and the round and chime setting feels and sounds like the real thing coming out of a

 I also really like the fact that Strymon decided to make this an IR loader, which gives you

 the ability to put your own impulse responses on the pedal instead of having to rely on

 whatever proprietary IRs that Strymon would have come up with.

 This makes the pedal a lot more versatile and appealing to people that already have

 a bank of IRs built up that they've either purchased or made themselves.

 You can load them on here and use the three amp settings and be able to cover quite a
