Smith Persist vs Specialized Ambush 2

How hard would it have been to include a sizing chart in the item description??? I ordered a helmet that is too small and now have to return. What a PITA.

My wife just got an e-bike and I reminded her that this state requires a helmet. We looked at the less expensive helmets which typified "you get what your pay for". After much searching and comparing I saw this helmet and there was no question it would give her the protection she needed. Lightweight and very sturdy, two must-have qualities in a bike helmet

Specialized Ambush 2 with MIPS is what I use. I’ve seen their helmet testing, it’s legit (as are most other reputable helmet makers). It’s well worth spending the extra money for MIPS or something similar whichever brand you go with.

Bought the POC Ventral at over $250 and this Smith helmet is so much more comfortable, and the chin strap system is amazingly easy to adjust to fit around your ears and then tighten up to the chin. The POC is “pretty” but the Smith is really nice looking and so much more affordable. Save the cash and use it on bike gloves, socks, etc. Go with the Smith!

Instead of the older model’s airy 20 vents, this year’s features 15 with an additional three on the visor. Large unvented sections on the top of the head and along the sides above the ears prevent airflow where the previous version allowed it. I’ve tested both versions in unforgiving conditions, wearing the new model for exposed, sunny rides in Moab, Utah, and Durango and Fruita, Colorado. And although the vents on the Ambush 2 are quite large, they still don’t live up to the comfort and airflow of the previous model’s smaller, more numerous, and better-placed vents

The cushions can be taken off and washed as needed also. A pediatrician once told me when encouraging that my child wear a bike helmet, "I can fix her arms and legs if she falls, I can not fix her brain."

It's a nice helmet, I went with a different helmet after I had an accident that totaled the helmet. I used a Bell Super 2 and It always gave me a headache, it just didn't fit, I bought another Specialized Ambush soon after. I would recommend you find a helmet that fits your head well and stick with it. Also if you're going to be going fast, I would recommend getting goggles and ear covers
