Schwinn Loop 7-Speed Folding Bike Review

 From what I can see, Schwinn no longer makes this bike so that probably explains the current low prices. If you have ever wondered about a folder this is your opportunity to test out an inexpensive but heavy folder bicycle.

 What you need to do is get the bike folded as tight as possible and then invert the bike (seat and rack now on floor) and then place the bag over the bike. Bring the bike in the bag back into the upright position and you should be able to close the zippers or rotate the folded bike a bit until you can close the zipper. I did not measure, but the dimensions of the folded bike and the weight would not make this a good bike for flying but this will work well if you need an occasional bike in your car, boat, plane and for commuting. I really like having an integrated bike rack, but the thickness of the rack is too large for panniers

I use a long narrow bike bag on the rack and a seat bag but so far I have not found a handlebar bag that will work. If you load the back too much without weight on the front and try to ride up a hill you will be doing unintentional wheelies

 As to the gear ratio - if you live where it is mostly flat the gears will work fine. I was actually impressed that the gear ratio is on the low end but you will still find yourself walking up steep hills. Only one of the pedals is foldable and when wearing thin souled shoes, I found that the folding pedal has a rumble strip that I could feel. I'm looking but ideally I would like to find foldable pedals for both sides that I could also use with clips without straps

I wanted to start biking and this was by far the best bike to do it for a new person. It's more or less assembled and you can go biking right away from the box.  The advantage of this one is that I can throw it into the trunk of my car and go biking anytime. This is a big advantage if you want to start doing this as a daily/weekly exercise

Tern Link C8 | Folding Bike Review

I bought this after seeing that it *could* be carried as checked luggage if it was partially disassembled. It can be broken down and packed in a suitcase, but reassembling it proved to be more difficult than I wanted when traveling. If you're looking for a bike to pack, a Brompton or a Tern BYB is probably a better fit. 

If you're looking for a general purpose folding bike to store indoors or fit in a car trunk, this bike will work well. I like the included cargo rack and bungee cord. The cord wraps around the rack and stays completely clear of the wheel.

I used a Tern Link C8 with a rear rack (bikepacking aspirations) until I realised it was actually speed I preferred. So I switched to a Tern Verge and that was almost as fast as road bikes, for a foldie. So I should have gotten a minivelo instead after that but went straight from Verge to a roadbike. So I guess you will have to decide commuting carrying luggage, or just a speedy foldie which folds up to less space or if you have juuustt enough space for a minivelo for your speed cravings

Ppl suggest light road bikes often for this bc you can carry them up stairs easily. 

What does this sun think? Are folding bikes better? How about the quality of the ride? If I ride six miles on my commute, is that going to be too much to be comfortable on a folding bike?

About the price: if I am not mistaken it’s about £700 new, you might find a good price on the second-hand market but be prepared to wait for an interesting deal. Cycle shops also recommend the Link C8 for beginners.

I am looking for a folding bike to help save me some petrol and free up the car for my partner to use whilst I am at work. 

Journey will be about 5 miles of riding a day, a few hills but mainly flat city and a train journey. I'm about 16 stone and 6 foot 2, so was thinking a 20 inch wheel? Main concern is a comfortable ride and that it is durable. My budget is under £500. 

Looked into a used Tern, but was wondering if anyone had any specific model recommendations from their experience?
