Unfortunately, battery performance is unimpressive, as its maximum runtime of about 40 minutes falls short of pricier cordless stick vacuums. Used in its high-power 'MAX' mode, battery life drops to a little over five minutes forcing you to work quickly when cleaning pet hair on thicker carpet.

If you don't need the all-out power of a corded model like the Dyson Ball Animal 3 and want something cheaper and more maneuverable, the Samsung Jet 60 Pet is a solid option. It's the entry-level model in Samsung's lineup of cordless stick vacuums, with a less powerful motor and lower capacity battery than the much more expensive Samsung Jet 90 Complete, though this doesn't mean it's a poor performer. While its basic floorhead lacks any height adjustment for cleaning denser carpeting or a brushroll off switch, it still manages to do a great job dealing with debris on low and high-pile carpet. It's also effective when clearing away pet hair on a wide variety of surface types, and since the floorhead's brushroll is removable, you can cut away any tangled hair with ease.

However, battery performance is a weak point, as this vacuum can only run for a little over five minutes when used in its most powerful suction mode, forcing you to work very quickly to clear stubborn debris on carpeting. Its max battery life of 40 minutes isn't very long for a modern cordless stick vacuum. If you prefer using a corded model to clean for longer periods, the Kenmore Intuition Bagged is an upright vacuum that delivers good overall performance on carpets. Its bagged design makes it easier and cleaner to dispose of debris, though its bulky design makes it far more of a hassle to deploy and maneuver than the Samsung.

The best mid-range vacuum for stairs that we've tested is the Samsung Jet 60. Unlike the Dyson V12 Detect Slim or Roborock H7, it isn't capable of automatically adjusting its suction power to match different surfaces. If you don't mind changing that manually, it's a very good option. Performance on bare and carpeted surfaces is great, and at under five and a half pounds in its stick configuration, it's also impressively lightweight. Like most stick vacuums, you can use it in a handheld configuration to clean hard-to-reach areas. It comes with an extendable crevice tool for helping reach tight corners, an upholstery tool with a clip-on dusting brush, and a miniature turbo brush for dealing with messes on stairs. However, it's worth noting that the latter attachment is very bulky and attaches a little loosely to the vacuum.

It's also important to note that this vacuum doesn't have a telescopic wand, so you might have trouble finding a height that works for you. Running it in its most powerful suction mode, necessary for dealing with stubborn messes, can drain its battery in under ten minutes, which is considerably shorter than the pricier options on this list. If that's a problem for you, the Tineco PURE ONE X Tango is a solid choice that can run for a maximum of about 70 minutes. However, unlike the Samsung vacuum, its battery isn't removable or replaceable.

If you're shopping at a mid-range price point, the Samsung Jet 60 Pet is among the best vacuums for small apartments we've tested and is certainly worth a look. It doesn't have the Tineco PURE ONE S11's automatic power adjustment feature, but it is just as portable and has a remarkably lightweight design that makes it easy to use, even in tight spots. Its five-stage filtration system also helps seal in any fine allergens like pet dander, and the vacuum is pretty easy to clean out and maintain. Performance on bare surfaces like hardwood floors is decent, though you might need to make an extra pass or two to fully clear away bulkier debris. Thankfully, it does a great job of handling messes on low and high-pile carpeting and rugs.

That said, battery performance isn't a strong point.   Battery life is as described by most reviews. I’d expect you can vacuum a 1,200 sqft house on high and a 1,800 sqft house on medium. Don’t expect much more than that. If you have kids, this is not for you.

The suction is better than that of a smaller battery vacuum, but it’s heavy as well. My husband uses it with both hands sometimes. He’s used it as a regular “Dustbuster” at home and as a car vacuum, and at home it’s convenient because the storage on the wall makes it practical. For the car it’s not so good because the canister gets a lot in the way, and it’s heavy to hold for as long as it takes to vacuum the whole car floor

Heavier and harder to clean than expected

The vacuum is easy to use and seems effective. However, the battery lasts maybe 5 - 10 minutes and takes a while to charge back up. Also, charging with the battery in the vacuum is a pain if you don't mount the vacuum on the wall. If the vacuum isn't hanging from the charging cradle (which is required for charging), the charging cradle tends to slip off and fall if you're not careful

I was very disappointed in the length of time before the battery just stops. I have only been able to use it for about 7 - 10 minutes before it just shuts off and you have to recharge it for 20 minutes before you can use it again.

 Could be years. Could be never. I asked to be issued a new vacuum, as without that brush head I could not use the vacuum as intended (I use the flat brush head attachment 98% of tte time). They said they don’t handle that and I should call a different customer service department

If it breaks, you’re out of luck

When it’s charged it’s great, however, after about 10 minutes it just shuts off and it’s done so move quickly because the clock is ticking! It’s good for a couple of rooms, we can usually do the kitchen, living room, and mostly the dining room (fast) before it shuts off. I wish the battery lasted longer but other than that, it works great.
