 They gave it last year's Huck Knife Pro Flex, so that stiffens the board up overall. It still has that predictable middle of the road park flex, so you do have slightly softer tips, stiffer through the middle with a fair amount of torsional flex. It's just a little stiffer in those tips, which kind of changes the stability. When you're actually charging around, you don't get as much chatter, which doesn't come back on your foot, so you're getting less leg fatigue at the end of the day

 There was warmer temps, zero wind, you had chopped chunder, slush, perfect corduroy, great hero snow, and I rode it with my Roam, Black Label bindings, and my K2 Thraxis boots. The big thing to note with this board is that they changed the stiffness. They gave it last year's Huck Knife Pro Flex, so that stiffens the board up overall.  But overall, it's not a bad board when you're in the right snow conditions. I think if you're riding straight sheet ice, you may want to look at something else. So who's this board for? I think you really couldn't differentiate too much between the Huck Knife and Huck Knife Pro last year, and now you really can. But by stiffening it up, it gives it a little bit more power, a little bit more snap

Other than that they have the the same camber profile, sintered base and medium flex. I liked the Huck Knife the best out of all of them, the almost full camber profile gave it better edge hold, and a nicer pop in the park. I do prefer full camber though, so I am pretty biased towards boards like that. I rode it everywhere, it is harder work in powder, the profile on the Villain/Assassin has slightly more float, but not a huge difference

Looking to switch over from a 2017 Assassin and have narrowed it down to the Salomon Villain &amp; Huck Knife (I have a Salomon bias if you couldn’t tell). 

To anyone who’s rode both the Assassin and the Huck Knife, how much different is riding the Huck Knife? Can it handle All-mountain/freestyle terrain the same way the Assassin does? I know it’s more flexible but I hear from some it gets the job done but others say it doesn’t hold up as well.

Anyone have experience with both the Salomon Assassin &amp; the Huck Knife?

 But you can butter on this board. You can get sideways. You can swivel around and do what you need to do. It's just got a lot of rebound to it just with the camber profile and the flex in there

 That's where you want to get your weight out over and really press into. Is it going to give you a deep butter? No, it's going to be a little bit more subdued and you're going to have a ton of snap out of it so prepare yourself for that fight. But you can butter on this board. You can get sideways

 All right, so you get your standard run-of-the-mill, middle-of-the-road park flex. Softer tips, stiffer midsection, moderate torsional flex so you can really twist this board when you absolutely need to. Now with that said, you do get some chatter out in the tip and the tail and it slightly resonates underfoot. It's a little more damp than the regular huck knife but you still feel it

 It has a medium flex rating, so it's solid enough for riding fast through choppy terrain and landing jumps, but it can still be pressed without too much effort. It has triax glass, so there's a little bit more torsional stiffness if you compare it to other similar-ish boards like the Assassin. It has a sintered base and a bit of structure, so it's pretty quick as long as you keep it waxed. Although I originally bought it as a board to ride everywhere, it does its best work in the park

 I'm 6ft tall and about 155lbs and I have it set up with positive 12 on the front foot and negative 9 on the back. To me it rides like an easy camber board, has a bit of forgiveness in the nose and tail if your riding isn't perfect. It has a medium flex rating, so it's solid enough for riding fast through choppy terrain and landing jumps, but it can still be pressed without too much effort. It has triax glass, so there's a little bit more torsional stiffness if you compare it to other similar-ish boards like the Assassin

 The new model has some extra carbon in the side walls and a different side cut. The older model that I'm riding is a 155cm version and the newer one is 158cm. The pink bindings are the Burton Cobra Sharks, the white ones are the Burton Malavitas and the black ones are the Solomon Holograms. All of them are pretty mid flexing sort of freestyle bindings anyway

 After you've ridden it for a while, it seems to break in pretty nicely, though it's not too soft, you can still ollie it without a problem. The edge hold is pretty good, even on pretty icy snow, and although the side cut changed between those two models, I can't really tell the difference. I rode in the park quite a lot, but it held up pretty well. I never had any cracked edges, nothing that needed repairing

 Today I have a review of the Solomon Villain, a board that I spent quite a lot of time riding. I'll go through how it rides, the edge hold, pop and how it feels in the park. It's a medium flexing true twin park board. The same as quite a few Solomon boards it has the rock out camber profile, which is flat between your feet, camber under your feet and rocker on the nose and tail

 If you're going to ride it in the snow domes, ride it on some rails. The really nice thing is, if you're improving your riding, you've got that intermediate stage, and maybe even picking up your first board, you've done a few holidays and things, because of that little bit of rocker in the nose and tail, it's that little bit more forgiving, slightly softer flex, and it really just helps wind you in and out of those turns. And because it's got a bit of carbon in there, a good bit of Canberra, it's nice and stable. Once you've got through your improvement time, this really will carry your riding all the way through

 We've just been out for the morning on the new Salomon Villain. With the Villain, we've got a Canberra True Twin snowboard, so the nice thing with this, it's really nice and light underfoot. It's got a little bit of carbon in there, so when you're doing some ollies or you're winding it in and out of turns, you really feel some life in the board. But the great thing is, you've got Canberra under the feet and a good amount of rocker in the tip and tail

Salomon Villian 2020 Snow+Rock Snowboard Review

I just picked one of these up from Curated. I'm 5'5 160lbs and previously rode a 147 2010 model retox and was out riding my edges. I like to throw down at higher speeds and had been wanting something with more flex and more edge hold but didn't really want to size up. This board was it my first day out I got to experience it on some varying conditions from used up hard packed trails to freshly groomed

The camber/rocker combo felt great, the board floated over the snow and felt weightless under my feet

Board slays the mountain

I know this is a freestyle twin,  but it really slays the whole mountain!  I've ridden this in everything and everywhere.  Ice?  No problem with its powerful camber.  Powder?  Set the bindings back an inch and once again no problem!  Park?  What do you think ,)
