Rome Artifact Pro 2023 Snowboard Review

 This is the Artifact Pro. It's a newcomer for Rome from this season and it takes everything we know

 and love about the original jib stick but adds a couple of new upgrades to the core for some extra

 firepower. So what better place to test it out than Absolute Park?

 Well, no surprises that our team absolutely loved this one. The original Artifact has picked up a

 Whitelines 100 award before and the new Pro version doesn't stray too far from the performance and

 feel of its predecessor with the same true twin shape and full camber profile. However,

 this one comes with a slightly stiffer 5 out of 10 flex rating and a couple of upgrades to the core

 and the base. It's also available in two larger sizes and comes in this pretty mean looking black

 on black colorway. No messing about, this one is an out and out freestyle deck for dedicated park

 and street riders. So let's break down how it performed in the park first of all starting

 with the rails and there's one big talking point that consistently comes up among our test team

 and that is just how well this board locks into presses. Take a look at what's going on in the

 nose and the tail. Rome call this double kick. You can see there's a really pronounced two-step rise

 compared to a more traditional scoop and this is what creates that super stable platform to get

 locked into your presses. We also found the double kick helped with getting the board up into the

 air as well as saving us on a few sketchy landings on the way back down. You've effectively got this

 oversized sweet spot for getting that consistent clean pop out of your ollies and nollies and if

 you do come down a little nose or tail heavy the increased contact surface will give you a better

 chance of riding out when you're landing which nicely brings us on to its performance in the

 kicker line and it's got all the right ingredients for hitting the jumps. Full camber profile

 generates a lot of pop as well as decent grip along the edge and the true twin shape obviously

 makes it super balanced in the air but the pro version also comes with some upgraded firepower

 in the form of rome's hot rod construction. Now eagle-eyed fans of the original artifact will

 know that model features bamboo stringers here there are two carbon rods running from outside

 the insert pack up towards the nose and tail of the board. Now they won't affect the softer flex

 in the middle of the board nor its torsional stiffness but they really dial up the response

 levels and generate more snap at the very ends. Perfect for taking your riding to bigger features

 at higher speeds and if you are looking to level up your riding this season the sintered base

 offers some additional speed over the original artifact and this year rome have overhauled their
