 For now though, I can't recommend the Marantz PM7000N enough as an all-in-one solution. It sounds great and handles everything I've thrown at it from folk to hip-hop to shoegaze. Currently putting them through their paces with some Guru and Tribe Called Quest.

 The detail is bonkers, and it's nice having a bit more bass 'cause I don't think my neighbor across the hall would appreciate a subwoofer. My next upgrade is replacing the Fluance RT82 with a Rega Planar 3 (unless someone has a better recommendation in the $1000 range) next year around this time, and then I'll probably start looking into cutting the receiver up into separate components a year after that. Picked up the second half of my new speaker set (don't ask) today and I can't even believe the difference. Previously I was using a pair of ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2, which are fine, but these KEF Q750s are just a whole other league

Everyone who’s listened to my Dentons or Lintons comes away impressed; more consistently than any others I’ve had. But we’re talking your ears, your taste

OK, great amp and speakers. Have those myself. Not sure you need the DAC as you’ll discover the Audiolab’s DAC is pretty good, but as everybody but me seems to be convinced that an external DAC is the passport to audiophile pleasure and credibility, we’ll let that pass for the moment.

 But I love the Dentons and next to the Lintons, my main speakers, they stand up really well. Eventually they’ll be the rear speakers for my own version of surround, and the mains for my mono system (which you’ll realise will be at the other end of the room).

I don’t find the Dentons too shrill, but I’m 65 so I guess I don’t hear as much up there as younger ones do.  Nonetheless, I’m going to implement the “proven” solution of replacing one of each speaker’s link strips with a 1-ohm 5 watt resistor to balance the sound a little better. But I love the Dentons and next to the Lintons, my main speakers, they stand up really well. Eventually they’ll be the rear speakers for my own version of surround, and the mains for my mono system (which you’ll realise will be at the other end of the room)

I have the AT LP120X - I assume yours is the older, non”x” model which is better built but has sound issues with the phono preamp, even when theoretically bypassed. However, I only have it for 78s. It does OK on LPs but compared directly with my aged Thorens TD160 it’s some way short. I also have a Rega Planar 2 for mono LPs (remember the mono system?). That’s a significant upgrade over the AT120, old model or new, but cheaper than the Planar 3 and, critically, less upgradeable. The 3 is a potential money pit as you can upgrade it to the full Planar 6 spec. I find the 2 is pretty good and luckily I caught an ex-demo one at around 25% off. Plenty of other options, though, so worth checking some out. I tend to favour belt-drive, and the Rega being UK-made was a plus for me.

Rate my audio system

 This is what it used to come packaged with, and that's about a three hundred dollar cartridge and the whole package was twelve hundred and forty five dollars. What reaga has done since they can't get this cartridge right now, is they've packaged it with their six hundred dollar exact, two cartridge, it's a yellow cartridge and they're doing it for the same price at 12.45. So what a bargain is that you're getting a 300 more expensive cartridge and you're getting it at the same price as this cartridge, they can't make any more it's a great table

 It'S a multi-density, fiberboard and, and the other turntables from here from above that one and up they use a foam, a racing foam that was developed in formula one racing cars. So that's one of the things as you move up the line that you get and they get even lighter and lighter. They always include their their phono cables are direct wired and attached to the arms so that there's no connection there for purity of sound and they've. Always at this price point put some really good: phono cables on they're, really low, capacitance they've got really great connectors on them and they sound good

So the simple question is, rather than dropping $4,000 for the Nait Uniti Atom, is there a reasonably priced, decent/high-quality CD player that will also handle streaming from the new various sources and push analog thru the outputs??

What could I do to reduce this interference and hum? Would a better power supply help? The Trichord brand ones are way too out of my price range, but I've seen Chinese DIY looking ones on eBay that are similar.

Hi all. My current setup is a Rega Planar 3 with an AT-VM95ML cart, Trichord Dino Mk1 phono (w/ basic power supply, NAD C316BEE V2 and some old Marantz speakers. It's a nice little setup, but I've got a bit of a hum and hiss issue, and I think the phono stage might be the culprit.

When listening through my speakers, the hum is not much of an issue and is only audile when no music is playing and it is very quiet. However, through headphones (Sennheiser HD6XX) it's a different story. They are fairly sensitive headphones, so the hum and hiss is a lot worse. I understand that hiss is inherent in phono stages (I think?), so it's the hum that I think is more the issue

 So I told him I would like to see what the best I could do with my budget and he narrowed me down to this one for $450 and Technics SL-B2 for $350. He said the wood finish is pretty rare and this one has a brand new cartridge.

Just purchased my first turntable! I feel a bit overwhelmed right now and wanted to share my purchase on here just to get some feedback, would be much appreciated! I went to a place about an hour away with vintage audio equipment stacked up to the ceiling! It was like audiophile heaven, will all the top brands from stereos, speakers, turntables.. you name it! The owner was real friendly and I was walking in initially looking for a Technics SL-1300 or similar models with the intentions on spending about $300 to $350. Everything in the store has been serviced by professional technicians and all turntables came with a 80% used cartridge to brand new. So I told him I would like to see what the best I could do with my budget and he narrowed me down to this one for $450 and Technics SL-B2 for $350. He said the wood finish is pretty rare and this one has a brand new cartridge. I got a full tutorial about turntables and enjoyed the couple hours we spent narrowing me down to this one as I agreed I'd rather buy it for life then a slightly cheaper one that may last a decade or so. He also wasn't really pushing me towards the more expensive one either I sort of gravitated towards it as he was explaining the differences. He also had a whole section of $2,000 and up turntables with tone arms that looked like army tanks lol.

But I guess my question is does $450 seem justified for a fully serviced Sanyo DC Servo Player Model TP 727?  I don't know much about it but can say it sounded really amazing in the store. I also took pictures of the settings on the dials he said to make sure to remember that because it's been professionally setup.

 Of course, you can see there it is Technics by Panasonic. I think it was the Matsushita company that was, you know, Panasonic that made Technics. You know, Technics is still around, you know, with like higher-end DJ tables and stuff. This is a fully auto turntable, and I like that for having auto return, you know, if I'm gonna leave the room and forget about it, I don't want to come back and still have the record spinning

 I'm going to try to get in here good where you can really see the switch. So you can see the notch on three. We're going to lift the needle, move it to the center position as if the record was done. Tone arm starts coming back

 It was just a pump. On my Sony, it was just a push button. But I had a few different records out here. I had a 7-inch on it right now

 Actually, I got two or three new things. This turntable, a

 receiver, which is not a lot to speak of other than it had a phono preamp.

 I needed it and it's giving me more power than the soundbar I was previously using for my record player.
