Moisturiser for very dry skin?

I stopped using everything except gentle cleanser and QV Intensive Moisturiser (later switched to QV Ointment with Ceramides which is very similar). They're occlusive, greasy moisturisers that are generally non-irritating. Apply on slightly damp skin after washing and don't use anything else until your skin gets back to normal. Even sunscreen - if sunscreen is irritating, stop using it for now and avoid the sun instead

About a couple weeks ago I woke up and noticed a few things about my face. It felt extremely tight, itchy and dry. In the mirror I could actually see my smile lines, they were extremely noticeable when just a day prior they weren't noticeable at all (I'm 27).  I'm not really sure how I managed to do this to myself. If it were just the lines I'd chalk it up to aging but on top of everything else I'm fairly certain I've damaged my facial barrier. 

I'm completely new to skincare and never used any products, so I don't really know where to start. I just want my face to stop being irritated constantly and (hopefully) get those lines less noticeable. I did some research and want to have a very basic routine that will help repair my barrier. I found a cleanser that seems to agree with my skin type (pretty sure im dry/sensitive, I never breakout or anything). That cleanser is the QV gentle cleanser. However when it comes to moisturizing, I've tried cetaphil for dry/sensitive skin, CeraVe for dry and very skin, and another moisturizer that's been thrown out and I dont remember the name of, but all of them just seem to make my face feel even tighter and give me a rash. 

So I've got several questions:

1. Considering the symptoms I described in my first paragraph have persisted for nearly two weeks with no sign of improvement, have I probably damaged my barrier?
2. Am I allergic to these moisturizers, or is the rash likely caused by the broken barrier?
3. Are the CeraVe or Cetaphil moisturizers good and should I continue using them despite the rashes and dryness?
4. If not, what moisturizer would you recommend for someone with my skin-type looking to repair their barrier? 
5. Is there anything else I could be doing to help repair my skin? 
6. Will my complexion go back to normal or at least improve once my skin has repaired?

So I think I've damaged my facial barrier - What now?

 \- La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume (I think you might find this really useful to use as an occlusive on top of an existing moisturiser, or to calm down and help heal the areas that are breaking out if using spot treatments.).

My skin is dry (that look too long to realise as I hated the feel of heavy creams - now I love it!) but since reaching my 30s I’ve started getting horrible breakouts along my chin, and the occasional blood cyst on my cheek. 

For the past year my routine has been
TBH antibac cleaner with sonic brush
THB acne hack cream
DE marula oil
DE la la retro moisturiser

I’m also not a religious day and night person, just when I have a shower, as when I’ve gone months day and night treating there’s been no difference. 

Lately though I’ve been reading a lot of negativity about DE that seems to line up with my ongoing problems.

I’m happy with TBH but want to drop the oil and find a good moisturiser. Any recommendations? My skin is prone to eczema but my face has never had an issue.

Something to add - and I’m not conspiracy or antivax and don’t want to put anyone off the vaccine or start a debate. The horrible breakout has come coincidentally after my Pfizer vac. My like clockwork period was 21 days late after the first dose and was a 3 day “experience” to say the least, after the second dose it came on time but the wild 3 day ride again instead of usual casual easy to manage 5-7, so I believe it has thrown my hormones out of balance. Before this I was 80% under control with my skin with the occasional cystic breakout around my period.

Now I’m in constant agony.

 It has also no smell so it's fragrance-free the only thing that's a bit like not really annoying but just because it has no smell it smells a bit like clinical so like very very sterile and I don't know it's not like a smell that I personally enjoy but nothing against the product itself because it's fragrance-free it's just like that I personally prefer a fragrance rather than nothing but when it comes to the application how it spreads out it just is so easy to spread out even though it's like a thicker cream it soaks into the skin directly which I do enjoy but for me personally which like didn't work out for me is when I'm using it as a moisturizer before I'm going to apply my makeup. Could be because of my makeup products could also be because of the cream I'm not sure I'm also not a hundred percent sure about that but the way I would use that moisturizer is basically using it on its own when I'm not wearing any makeup and just let it soak into my skin because I know for sure that for example when I'm using my favorite moisturizer which is the Nivea one and also the Velida Skin Food one if you want to go natural then these two are still my favorites which I would put just in front of the ordinary just because I can use these creams in several like different ways also comparing it like not comparing but combining it with my makeup application and it's not like a separate product that I need to use if I don't want to wear makeup. So it's just because as I already said in previous videos I'm kind of lazy when it comes to my makeup and skincare products it just should work everything well together.  This review is about the ordinary moisturizing cream and I'm also going to talk a bit about the product and my experience that I had with the product plus I also wanted to show you how it applies on my face and also what the texture looks like so that you can decide whether or not you should get it or if it would suit your skin. So I'm going to do this while I'm going to show you also what the texture is. When it's about the pricing and also where you can get it then it's definitely affordable because you can find it at the drugstore and when I first got it I was like a little bit shocked and I thought oh god this cream wouldn't suit my skin type because the texture is very thick so if you're going to blend it between your fingers it's definitely nothing that's really creamy it's more like going apart into pieces and it feels like it would be a rich cream but once you're going to apply it on your face then you feel like okay this might be not as worse as I thought so when it comes to your first like trying the cream and also see how it applies so I thought that this cream might be cream that's perfect for dry skin types just because of the texture and also how it just like applies on my face and also feels on my fingers but then once you're applying it then you just will feel that it's soaking in directly into the skin and I couldn't really find anything of if you like for what skin type it would be suitable it just doesn't really tell you anything it just tells you that it's gluten-free, oil-free, silicone-free etc but it doesn't really tell you if it's for dry, normal or oily. So what I would guess is that it's for all skin types which is good
