I like the simplicity of the RAM, the price is great especially for 4000mhz. The downside is that I cant get my BIOS to POST with any speeds faster than 3600mhz. So that's disappointing.  I'm going to keep tweaking some settings to see if I can get it running at the advertised speeds and will update my review and report any changes that made it work

 You know, it says Viper on the front It has a nice little red heat spreader and this is kind of the same thing We've seen from Patriot for a while. So not much different the actual PCB of the memory modules is green Again, I would like to see maybe black Would have looked really nice on these I feel would have given a better look but you do have that green in the heat spreader If you guys can kind of had kind of see that it is a little bit larger than the actual module but not much It's not one of those really large ones So you shouldn't have that much clearance issues as far as everything else goes Um, very nice little cool design again This this isn't our you know a crazy overview because these are just memory modules But these look really nice, of course with the black and red These will match up really nice with say MSI's gaming line Of course Asus ROG series motherboards and of course any motherboard really that has black or red on it These will match up with quite nicely.  What's going on guys, Bob Buskirk here at Think Computers, and today we're taking a look at some DDR4. We have Patriots of Viper series DDR4. So let's go ahead and take a look. So obviously this isn't like our typical unboxing and overview videos just because these are DDR4 modules and Obviously, it's not a whole lot to look at You know because they aren't like I said, they are just DDR4 modules But we kind of just wanted to show you what they look like and give you an idea of what you would get Of course if you're getting these DDR4 modules and how they compare to other DDR4 that you might be looking at So we received the 16 gigabyte kit that's running at DDR4 3000 now Patriot is offering DDR4 memory kits in 16 and 32 gigabyte kits and the speeds range from 2400 megahertz all the way up to 3,000 megahertz So depending on of course what type of system you're running and how you want to do things you can obviously Pick the kit that's right for you as far as the box It is open so you can get a look at the modules before you buy them and just lets us know some of the main features DDR4 technology quad channel technology and Design for Intel's x99 chipset

 So obviously with DDR4 We're dealing with quad channel kits So we can take a look here so we have four memory modules and of course these are all Four gigabytes of piece. Of course that equals 16 gigabytes, which this is a 16 gigabyte kit as You can see here. Patriot Viper 4 DDR4 Memory Unboxing & Overview

 You might wanna just stick to getting like a 3600 speed memory and then spending the rest of the money that you would have spent on getting a better GPU. No one can buy GPUs, just get the RAM. You can't buy anything, just spend your money on RAM, why not, there's no CPUs, no GPUs on the market, you can't buy anything. What a time, what a time we live in

 The cast latency I was grabbing in here was 18. And I'm gonna test that against a few different things on our Ryzen system. Now I've had this RAM for over a month and I waited to make the video because I ordered a Ryzen 5950X. And I thought that would be a better CPU to be testing with this because there's a limiting factor here

 On the Ryzen system that I have right here, this is a 3900X. It will run at the maximum speed. You can go in and configure the XMP profiles and there's a couple different profiles. You can set it up to run at 4266 cast latency of 18

Patriot Viper 16GB 4266 MHz DDR4 "Blackout Edition" - How Fast is Too Fast for AMD?

 Welcome to PCWidzgit's Deck Talk. Today we're looking at something new from Patriot, the Viper Blackout edition of DDR4 memory. This kit here is Ryzen ready for AMD, but it will work with Intel CPUs as well, of course. And it's a kit of two 8GB modules, as you can see right here, blacked out

 Okay, the memory mark is what I'm looking at and if we look at the memory mark and break this down, I'm really looking at the memory read, memory write, and the latency. Okay, those three scores. So let's start with the read here. The uncashed read results, you can see how it performs there, the bandwidth 18443 megabytes per second and of course I compare it to other memory modules

 So those five seconds adds up if you're doing a lot of calculations, right? Passmark, doing great here on the rating. We're concentrating of course on the memory mark. Okay, the memory mark is what I'm looking at and if we look at the memory mark and break this down, I'm really looking at the memory read, memory write, and the latency. Okay, those three scores

 But you know, there's a quick 360 look at it, so that way you really know what you're getting when you open up one of these out of the package. And here's another look of it on the motherboard, so you can see what I'm talking about. So if you get a nice board and it's all blacked out, this will look sweet in there, as you can see. And those aluminum fins, they really do dissipate heat very well

 Ever have a problem? Speak to Patriot, send them back, you get new ones. The Steel Series kits are available in a massive variety of speeds and capacities. From as low as an 8 gig, 3,000 megahertz kit, right up to a 16 gig, 4,400 megahertz kit. So, big, big choice in options there

 Silicon lottery, as we say. So you may not get quite the speeds that I've achieved. You may find that you won the silicon lottery, you have a great memory controller built into your chip, and you can achieve even higher speeds than I did. It's always down to what is called silicon lottery

 And always remember, your chip and your motherboard combined will affect what memory speeds you can achieve. So you may find that your chip doesn't have quite such a good memory controller in it. Silicon lottery, as we say. So you may not get quite the speeds that I've achieved

 Like I said, in the past when we looked at memory kits, memory is very tricky to review because performance differences between kits is very marginal when they all have the same specs. So, we're basically going to be looking at what I actually thought of the memory. I've done quite a bit of different testing on a few different platforms to see if we ever had any issues. We did have some, but the reasons were never down to the memory

PATRIOR VIPER STEEL SERIES 4000mhz DDR4 REVIEW!!!

 Yeah, that doesn't seem to be the case here. Whether we're looking at productivity or gaming benchmarks, the Viper Steel RGB running at stock clocks and timings falls well behind the kit from Crucial, and in some benchmarks, the margin is very significant indeed. Luckily, upping the kit's speed to 3800MHz and tightening timings to CL18 resulted in a very healthy performance uplift, to a point where the gap between the kits almost maybe sort of becomes negligible in most cases. Even tighter timings would have probably put the Viper Steel RGB at the same level of Crucial kit, or due to the higher clock speed, would have seen it dominating its competition outright

 Oh, and all the tests were run with the rest of the clocks running in a 1-to-1 configuration. So, let's get into it. Now, as more and more numbers start popping up, it should become clear that things didn't turn out quite as expected. I knew going into this that the Viper Steel RGB would struggle a little because of its comparatively loose timings, but I figured the higher clock speed would make up for most of that

 Luckily, upping the kit's speed to 3800MHz and tightening timings to CL18 resulted in a very healthy performance uplift, to a point where the gap between the kits almost maybe sort of becomes negligible in most cases. Even tighter timings would have probably put the Viper Steel RGB at the same level of Crucial kit, or due to the higher clock speed, would have seen it dominating its competition outright. But unfortunately, no matter how much voltage I pushed through it, or how carefully I dialed in my timings, I wasn't able to get this kit to run at a stable CL16. But I'm not all that experienced with RAM overclocking, so if you are, then you'll undoubtedly get a heck of a lot more out of this kit than I did

IS DDR4 RAM DEAD?! - Patriot Viper Steel RGB Review

  At the XMP rated 3600 Mhz speed, memory test fails and Windows crashes with BSOD.  The only stable speed was 3200 Mhz with poor latency (XMP profile for 3200 has tighter latency)  NOT Recommended. I would never buy another Patriot product. They sell a 3200 part as 3600

  I have increased the rating to 3 stars from 1 since I discovered that using only two sticks instead of 4 the memory works at the rated 3600 Mhz. So, maybe it is a compatibility problem with the Z690 MB and 12900k processor. Or maybe the RAM is not designed to work with two sticks per channel.  ORIGINAL REVIEW:  I purchased 2 x 64 GB memory kits to reach 128 GB on my new 12900k and Z690 ASUS MB setup

BSOD at rated XMP speed when using 4 sticks. Only works on pairs no quartets.

 But since this only has 2 memory channels, it's there. So now that we have finished installing the RAM into the system, we need to clock the RAM to its rated speed of 3200MHz or 3600MHz depending on the RAM that you bought. So now we're just going to turn on the system first, have your keyboard with you, next I'll press delete on the keyboard. Alright, then in here you can see it's already clocked to 3200MHz with XMP profile, though sometimes your board may not actually support the rated speed

 So in terms of my board, since it's a B260, it doesn't really support 3600MHz RAM. For the lighting, it's quite bright I would say compared to most RAMs such as my Trident Z kit. This can be controlled via your motherboard RGB software, such as in Asus you'll be using Asus Armory Crate and for MSI you'll be using MSI Mystic Light via the Dragon Center. In terms of compatibility, I'd say it's quite good in the wide range of platforms, from AMD to Intel with the ability to use XMP 2

 It's a new kit of RAM that goes alongside the Patriot Viper RGB. I'll say this, it looks a lot nicer compared to the Patriot Viper one so we're gonna see how well does it perform and that's how it looks in today's video. So with that, let's jump right in. All the specifications of the RAM, there's a few configs for the memory sizes which is 1x8, 1x16 and 1x32 and for the kits there's 2x8, 2x16 and 2x32

  One would be better of getting a processor with an XT designation on Ryzen and RAM at the 4000 or higher speed bin, and even then, You're not guaranteed to get B-die. Plus AMD Has said 3600mhz is where it's at with Ryzen RAM. If You have a CPU that can hit 1900 mhz You are lucky. Again, better chance at a high Infinity clock with the XT cpu's but not a guarantee

125 something. Had a High fan curve to ensure cooling.  I was able to eventually get the RAM stable at 3600 mhz with 16-16-20-20-32 with 1.45 volts

 I was thinking that I could get a decent FPS jump when tightening the timings. The best I got was 8 fps faster. Was hoping for 3800 cl 18 with 1900 infinity to get about a 30 - 45 fps jump. So much for that

3866 Not Great for Ryzen

This is not easy to do and you want to study some videos on YouTube and read some memory timing forums.  Overall they worked for me and I'm not saying they'll work for everyone

Great price memory for the right setup.

 Ideally, I would want a RAM kit that is rated for each individual speed and go from there. But still, I feel like this has given us a pretty solid idea of what we're seeing. When I first started reviewing Ryzen and different RAM kits, there was points where I could overclock RAM kit up to like 3600 megahertz and I thought I was doing great. And then I remembered my first AGESA code updates and I remember getting capped at just over 3500 megahertz and thinking, that's odd

 I did have to up it a tad to 1.37 versus 1.35, but it just goes to show, guys, that really, and I've seen the information that seems to verify this, that Ryzen is pretty well capped out at 3400 megahertz at the time being. So that was a fun experiment, though
