Panasonic DP-UB820 vs Vizio M-Series M512a-H6

I have the Panasonic DP-UB820-K outputting into a Denon AVR X4300H which outputs to a 7.1 speaker setup. My perception of the sound is that the center channel vocals are clearer, as is the surround sound. I don't have the ATMOS speakers installed yet, but the flyover scene in Battleship made me look up for the first time, and I've watched that movie more times than I care to admit

The bar doesn't offer as many features as the more premium models on the market. You won't find a room correction feature, meaning it can sound a bit different depending on the space you're in. There's no graphic EQ, either, so audiophiles are a bit limited when it comes to tweaking the bar's sound. Its bass and treble adjustments still give you some control, though, which is handy

I was worried it was the player because I had watched the same show before when it worked perfectly! I bought this in November of 2019 and paired it with my Hisense H9F and a Vizio sound bar. I enjoy collecting animated shows and films and enjoyed having this player. On watching Haikyuu, a volleyball anime, I noticed that when a player spiked, the sound came about a half second later. Then of course I started to realize the voices were off and it’s starting to get worse

Took one star off because no hook up method to tv is included. I did use one on hand to test picture quality and it's great. I would definitely recommend just know you will need to purchase a hdmi cord separately.

I've had it for just over a couple of months now. The remote is bad as it's clunky design has you accidentally going to Netflix all the time. The sound occasionally cuts out after I pause or skip around. The Alexa integration is horrible - if you jump through all the hoops to set it up, you'll then never use it

However I do find the remote a bit complicated with all the options and wish there were a phone app with few options. But overall I'm very pleased with the SB

the design is also a nice normal, sleek form factor; no nonsensical curved facets or oblique protuberances that some players feature. cons price is steep, but far less than the other devices i would count as direct competitors. This could be counted as a pro i suppose also in that sense, but would still like to see the general market price reduced in this area. the remote is fairly large and features many buttons that are perhaps unnecessary in 2019 (i've not used the number pad on a remote for about 10 years)

Also, there is no SHUFFLE function with the player and if you turn the sound bar off and then back on, it starts at the beginning of the playlist. It's like the player for the USB drive was an afterthought. And very little thought, at that.

This was an upgrade for me, I had been using an Xbox Series X to play my 4K discs and was missing both Dolby Vision and Atmos on my LG C1 set, since that "premium console" either doesn't do it (Vision) or is very buggy at best (Atmos). After trying out some of the same discs there was a noticeable difference for me. Tried out 1917, Blade Runner 2049, and Jurassic Park. The latter didn't offer an Atmos track but still sounded fine

This 5.1.2 setup isn't as impressive as more premium 5.1 models like the Bose Smart Soundbar 900 with Speakers + Bass Module, but it still offers pretty versatile performance for those on a tighter budget
