 Prior to using this player I'd been using my XBox One X to play 4K movies, and I thought it did a great job doing so. However, the Panny DP-UB820-K outperforms the XB1X in both video and audio quality. I have the Panasonic DP-UB820-K outputting into a Denon AVR X4300H which outputs to a 7.1 speaker setup

 The BIG-@$$ Netflix button is placed really close to the ^ Up button, which when pressed, which is easy to do due to its size, stops whatever you're watching and starts Netflix. I hope whoever approved this ridiculous design is endlessly suffering from rectal & reproductive ring of fire syndrome.

 I have the Panasonic DP-UB820-K outputting into a Denon AVR X4300H which outputs to a 7.1 speaker setup. My perception of the sound is that the center channel vocals are clearer, as is the surround sound. I don't have the ATMOS speakers installed yet, but the flyover scene in Battleship made me look up for the first time, and I've watched that movie more times than I care to admit

Awesome Video & Audio, but there are some quirks

 and just below that LCD is a USB port. It's a USB 2.0 port. There's also a USB three back here if you want to use that, but otherwise that's it

 It has all the major HDR formats that we're looking for and the ability to play 3d discs. The HDR optimizer works and I like the fact that you can turn it on or off and check it against your TV to see which one you prefer so that is also a nice feature. It easily upscales blu-ray content and DVDs and the picture quality looks very very good. It also plays 3d discs so if you have those you can put them in this player

Panasonic DP-UB820 4K UHD Disc Player || Full Review

 I was worried it was the player because I had watched the same show before when it worked perfectly!  I bought this in November of 2019 and paired it with my Hisense H9F and a Vizio sound bar. I enjoy collecting animated shows and films and enjoyed having this player. On watching Haikyuu, a volleyball anime, I noticed that when a player spiked, the sound came about a half second later. Then of course I started to realize the voices were off and it’s starting to get worse

 It is really frustrating. I’ve searched through YT videos and forums to figure out how to fix it but I cannot figure it out. At least I got 14 months of good usage but its too bad I missed the warranty time, especially since I bought it for $400. Also just to note, the interface is outdated and slow and the remote is abominable

 Took one star off because no hook up method to tv is included. I did use one on hand to test picture quality and it's great. I would definitely recommend just know you will need to purchase a hdmi cord separately.

Great blu-ray player

I've had it for just over a couple of months now. The remote is bad as it's clunky design has you accidentally going to Netflix all the time. The sound occasionally cuts out after I pause or skip around. The Alexa integration is horrible - if you jump through all the hoops to set it up, you'll then never use it

This was an upgrade for me, I had been using an Xbox Series X to play my 4K discs and was missing both Dolby Vision and Atmos on my LG C1 set, since that "premium console" either doesn't do it (Vision) or is very buggy at best (Atmos). After trying out some of the same discs there was a noticeable difference for me. Tried out 1917, Blade Runner 2049, and Jurassic Park. The latter didn't offer an Atmos track but still sounded fine

I submitted a warranty service request to Panasonic and received email "saying" service center would get back to me in 2-3 days (assumed business days). Got no response

 Called nearest Panasonic service site and was told Panasonic handles all blu-ray player warranty work through a repair shop in Florida (I live in the southwest) and that he would contact Panasonic about the lack of response. Received a message from repair center in Florida with info where to ship unit for repair. In same message, was told shop charges $50 for diagnosing problem, $15 for shipping unit back to me, and that the warranty does not cover labor after 90 days of purchase. So now I will be looking for a local repair shop to fix this near top-of-line blu-ray player that is 7 months old

The Best 4K Blu-ray Player

The BDR-XD07B is a more compact drive that’s best at ripping DVDs. It supports Blu-ray but not 4K UHD discs.

 However, after reading some reviews where users reported their discs being scratched, I decided to go with Pioneer instead. Years ago, I had Pioneer head units in my vehicles, so I knew them for their quality back then.  I purchased this drive primarily for reading a bunch of my existing Blu-Rays and DVDs. In total, I've probably had it read over 100 various discs so far, and I've only had it not work once on a DVD that had a lot of scratches

Before I purchased this, I went through a lot of reviews of external Blu-Ray drives. Originally I was going to go with an LG drive, as I used an internal LG drive in my previous desktop. However, after reading some reviews where users reported their discs being scratched, I decided to go with Pioneer instead. Years ago, I had Pioneer head units in my vehicles, so I knew them for their quality back then

 CyberLink has been COMPLETELY unresponsive. The account registration process does not work (does not send the confirmation emails for account setup or download info). Item was listed as new; what I received had definitely been opened and, not what I would consider as being new. Outer packaging (box) was not sealed, inner plastic packaging/bag & tape was ripped. USB data cable was missing and CyberLink software download code looked like it had been torn off. Also, instruction manual looked like it had very small food or sauce specks on it; not only not new but, rather disgusting
