Do yourself a favor and do not buy this blender. I bought one in March and like at least three of the other reviewers have said, the driveshaft stripped. The first occurrence happened after 3 months. I called their support line, and the CSR sent out a new replacement unit free of charge which was great aside from having to wait a week with no functioning blender while the replacement was in the mail

 Instead, I'll be proactive and buy some other, better, blender that is NOT made by Oster, and will use that in the interim for when the replacement replacement of this POS breaks yet again.  Save your dollars, avoid the headache, and look elsewhere for a blender that will last longer than a few months (at best) of making smoothies.

Do not buy this blender if you use any of the functions that reverse the blade. It WILL strip the driveshaft.

 Finally, the food processor container is rather on the small side compared with my old Cuisinart food processor. Overall, meh.

I miss glass cannisters

 For a month now, the motor has been making horrendously loud noises and it sounds like it’s going to blow up!! Even the neighbors can hear it next door. So I’ve stopped using it for fear that it’ll blow and hurt someone. Not sure how to return it thru Amazon — it’s past the return period.

I'm having a tough time making a decision on which vitamix to buy - the 5200 or the A2300.

My primary reason for buying a vitamix is to make smoothies (single servings for the most part). Based off research, if seems like the narrow container is better for single servings.

However, I'd also like a versatile blender. I will definitely make more than just smoothies in the blender. Since the A2300 is in the ascent line, it offers many more potential containers, like the food processor.

The newer technology on the Ascent isn't too important for me, I just want a blender that makes amazing smoothies, but is not tied down because of it. Thoughts on which one to get?

Edit: After reading all of the comments and going over my priorities, I&#39;ve actually decided to go for the A2500. A few reasons why I ended up choosing it: the future-proofing that the ascent line offers, the versatility of the container (not having a super narrow bottom like the 5200), and the presets (for the convenience, the small price bump from the A2300 seems to be worth it). I am worried about single servings but will have to see for myself how it performs. Worst case scenario is that I return it before the 30 days runs out.

 To that end, it consists of just two switches and a dial which allow for complete control over the unit. The right side switch is used to toggle the power on and off, while the switch on the left serves as a pulse mode when held down. Unsurprisingly, most of the magic is controlled through the dial which is used to access both the variable speed levels and some pre-programmed blending cycles. When twisted clockwise the dial activates the blender and causes its speed to go up in accordance with the selected level, there are 10 levels in total, allowing for fine control over a blend when twisted anti-clockwise

 For starters, its conical shape is optimized to produce a blending vortex which allows ingredients to fall continuously towards the blade. This ensures that an even consistency can be achieved throughout, even when using the jug to its 2 liter limit. Additionally, the jug features a blunted blade, a style that is standard for all modern vitamix blenders, thanks to the motor's immense power. This style of blade is just as effective as a sharp blade at blending ingredients

 Therefore, its blade is backed with a lot of speed and torque to easily slice through ingredients allowing the 2500i to form many different products from silky smoothies to ready to eat hot soups and even fine powdered dry goods to ensure a great user experience. Vitamix has also kept the 2500 eyes control panel very streamlined. To that end, it consists of just two switches and a dial which allow for complete control over the unit. The right side switch is used to toggle the power on and off, while the switch on the left serves as a pulse mode when held down

 The tamper is designed to fit perfectly in the 2-liter jug, allowing ingredients to be pushed towards the blade while the motor is running then to cap off the package. The 2500i can also be further upgraded with one of vitamix's blender kits.  I was very undecided about which model to buy, but I made the right choice with the A2500. It has the smoothie preset so I can start it and walk away. I use the same selection for cleaning because I know it will stop by itself. And cleaning is so easy

I love my Vitamix!! I make smoothies every day. I had been using a Nutri Ninja, but they didn't last but a year so I decided to step up to a Vitamix. Yes it was expensive, but hopefully with a 10 yr warranty, I will be money ahead in the long term. The smoothies are now really smooth; much more so than when made using the Ninja

This blender is awesome, by no doubt the best blender ever. I've used Nutribullet and Ninja for about 10 years, they are both good, but Vitamix performance surpasses them all. Vitamix makes the smoothest smoothies, it's easy to operate, does not cause splashes, and it's faster. I love the 64 ounces jar because I can make my day's smoothie in one go and faster

I haven't experienced any of those problems I read about in the reviews such as the ingredients just floating without blending in the large jar, probably because I like making my smoothies in large quantities, hence the big jar is a blessing for me.

Vitamix is worth its cost, it's very efficient to operate and gives the smoothest smoothie.
