Do yourself a favor and do not buy this blender. I bought one in March and like at least three of the other reviewers have said, the driveshaft stripped. The first occurrence happened after 3 months. I called their support line, and the CSR sent out a new replacement unit free of charge which was great aside from having to wait a week with no functioning blender while the replacement was in the mail

 Instead, I'll be proactive and buy some other, better, blender that is NOT made by Oster, and will use that in the interim for when the replacement replacement of this POS breaks yet again.  Save your dollars, avoid the headache, and look elsewhere for a blender that will last longer than a few months (at best) of making smoothies.

Do not buy this blender if you use any of the functions that reverse the blade. It WILL strip the driveshaft.

 Finally, the food processor container is rather on the small side compared with my old Cuisinart food processor. Overall, meh.

I miss glass cannisters

 For a month now, the motor has been making horrendously loud noises and it sounds like it’s going to blow up!! Even the neighbors can hear it next door. So I’ve stopped using it for fear that it’ll blow and hurt someone. Not sure how to return it thru Amazon — it’s past the return period.

Breville products - after replacing all sorts of items breville hold up. Their larger counter top oven gets 3-4x/week use and nearly never use the “regular” oven any longer. 

We've all heard the advice that circles the internet, mostly geared toward home repair. Buy a cheap set of tools, when one breaks it's because you've used it a lot. Replace the one broken tool with a high quality one.

So, what are the tools that you've purchased that are super high quality and were totally worth it? Alternatively, what's a tool that you said "I'll totally use this, I'm gonna spend $200 on one" and then it mostly lives in a drawer?  


If you're not there yet, what's the super high quality darling that you have your eye on to get, but your existing basic version is still holding on and you can't justify the premature replacement?

Vitamix 5200, but for a more budget (but still excellent) option, I would highly recommend the Breville Hemisphere Control for a shade above 150. I will recommend against the Ninja blenders. They're a lot cheaper, but there are good reasons to get at least the Breville.

 It can easily make bar-quality crushed ice, almond butter, and smoothies, and it can even hot blend. However, this blender is pretty straightforward, and it doesn&#39;t have a Pulse mode or any preset modes. It also isn&#39;t dishwasher-safe, but it&#39;s still quite easy to clean by hand.

 Better practice would be to make all movement clockwise (or all movement cc) as this would put both studs of the pair in play for each lock-unlock episode ( and reduce the wear on the otherwise solo stud by a significant percentage).. The BEST PRACTICE, however, which might be a little hard to swallow or ordain in the instructions, would be to make all movement clockwise on odd days of the month, and all movement cc on even days of the month. OK, you think I'm nuts, so let me explain

 However, in order to use it for dry ingredients, you have to purchase a dry blade for it. For the price, it should have come with it. I liked it but it didn't fully serve the needs of my lifestyle. I took it back and bought a cheaper brand that I could use for dry ingredients

Received my 7500 Reconditioned and the first thing I noticed was the variable speed knob seems to have zero effect to the speed of the blades. I read the manual, followed the steps to 'reset' and still nothing. I have not had a great experience so far with Vitamix customer service. Vitamix 7500 Certified Reconditioned Variable Speed Not Working?

 They also back their warranty 100%.   Bought a refurbished one with a 5 year warranty, 4 years later a small part cracked and they shipped it to themselves  and sent me it back all fixed within 5 business days for free of course .

Hi I'm looking for opinions on what kind of blender to purchase. I already have a food processor and an immersion blender, but my daughter is really into smoothies right now and the food processor is really annoying to clean. I would like something small I can keep on my counter that's easy to clean. Everyone seems to recommend the vitamix but I don't know if it would be worth it just for smoothies.  Yes, I expected noisy but this is more like noisy I expect it to come flying apart at any minute. It also still has a burning smell to it when you turn it on. As someone who is intimately familiar with what burning electronics smells like, this thing smells like burning. I get the distinct impression Vitamix was trying to cut as much cost out of the product as possible to increase margins
