You'll be more comfortable and all your stuff will remain dry. The plus side is that this was a very comfortable pack to wear when dry and my shoulders never became too sore over the course of the day. It was easy to control comfort by alternately tightening and loosening the waist belt so that the hips take more or less of the load.

My dad went the opposite direction - he started out with an "ultralight" pack (Osprey Exos 38 IIRC) and eventually went with an Atmos 65. He just carried too much stuff for an ultralight pack. He didn't care much for high daily mileage, the walking part of backpacking is a necessary evil in his mind to get to the backcountry camps for fishing and generally relaxing. Trying to stuff all of his junk into a smaller pack with limited support wasn't much fun, so he got a bigger pack and he enjoys backpacking much more

Highly recommenced! Get them before they are gone, Osprey has discontinued this model for some unknown/Stupid reason. Why you discontinue your best product is beyond me. Bring it back, and with more color/custom options! Id buy three just on principle.

My main concerns are if it will be too big (I’m 5’11” and 140 lbs) and if I can convince myself that it is a measurable improvement over my GR2 34L, and also a whopping $150 price premium. I tend to buy higher quality items if I can and keep them for a really long time so I can rationalize it, but I still have some reservations about this one compared to the GR2 40L.

This is currently my EDC rucksack as I have to commute daily with two laptops and accessories as well as a full set of tools. I can fit all my gear into the GR3 and use a couple dopp kits, shadow pockets, and a field pocket for organization. I still use my GR1 as a go-bag that I can pack down inside the GR3.

Used bag one trip! Loved it packed for second trip the following weekend and the outside zipper popped off! Osprey says online 10-12 weeks hoping when I come back from this weekend trip it will be less then that! Will redo this review after dealing with Customer service

The most immediate difference would be the U-shaped main compartment, as opposed to the rectangular Aeronaut. TOM BIHN achieved this by removing one of the two end pockets that the Aeronaut has. Instead of a duffle bag that could be used as a backpack, you now have a backpack that works as a duffle bag.
