The anniversary X edition incorporates a few enhancements to make this the most capable version yet: a new outsole boasts superior slip-resistance and enhanced durability and strength, and new Adaptive Cushioning Technology has been incorporated into the midsole to improve efficiency and produce a softer heel area. What does that mean to you? An even cushier ride and a grippier base on a shoe that already scored pretty highly on both counts. The entire footbed is notably plush, and the proprietary insoles offer excellent structure and support. Chunky, tiered lugs now grab loose surfaces and slick rocks even more easily, and a roomy toe box reduces pressure and friction across the forefoot. This shoe also does a great job holding the heel in place to minimize lifting and rubbing. Combined with thick, flat laces and an extra runner's loop means plenty of adjustability and support to achieve a perfect fit.
The one thing we didn't love about the Sawtooth X Low Waterproof is its weight. It is among the heaviest shoes in our review. But when we take into account the wealth of features, including a BDry membrane that successfully kept our feet dry both on trail and under controlled testing, it seems a worthy tradeoff. The combination of impressive cushioning, protection, support, and durability kept the Sawtooth X WP high on our list of top choices, particularly for multi-day treks where comfort is of the essence.

Sturdy hiking shoe. Didn't seem to have as much flex as the Vasque Breeze and Inhaler hiking boots I've been wearing, which isn't necessarily a bad thing depending on how and where you hike. Did seem to have ample support. However, the reason I bought these was because reviews said these were good for wide feet and narrow heels

A well supporting shoe for hiking and walking

 I like the look and haven’t had any blisters. They are sturdy. My only small complaint would be like so many hiking boots, they are a little heavy. But that truly is a minor issue

I have worn them for the last week while walking the dogs (about 2 miles) to break them in. They fit well, don’t move around and are comfortable. I ordered a 7.5 as I expect to have slightly thicker socks on at times

 Good grips on the bottom. I ordered an 8w. I have skinny feet but needed room for my orthotics. The orthotics fit fine in the shoe but are verry tight through the top above arch even though I have loosened them as much as I can without running out of laces to tie

 Outside in snowy and icy Indiana can be treacherous to maneuver and I purchased these shoes for that reason. Like others have mentioned, there is no break-in period, your feet are completely dry, the tread is great on snow and ice and they are incredibly comfortable. I know I can wear these if I ever go hiking, but I can also wear these to work. They are pricey, but you really do get what you pay for

 You know it doesn't necessarily have a full rant for protection, but it has this tpu coating right on both the inside and outside of the boot, to kind of give it that full rand yeah the synthetic outer paired with that does give it a little bit more Breathability than a traditional leather boot would have you can take this into a little bit warmer environments than you would maybe traditionally want to take your mid-cut boot and still feel really comfortable in it. 

 You know archery mule, deer hunt here in nevada, heat, steep country and they they performed amazing, they're lightweight sticky when they needed them to be sticky and just gave me all the support i needed and for me personally that the soft back here on my iq is: Is always a key point in any boot i buy so yeah? We really stand behind that. You know the 3f system is in every piece of footwear that we offer, because we want that flex zone for the comfort for the feel when you're out moving around in the mountains, the better the boot flexes, where you need it to the better.  This is my personal mid-cut boot that i have from salewa. I'Ve been really impressed with it. It is very lightweight. You can be pretty agile in this thing, and yet it still gives you all the support you're looking for in a mid-cut boot, and it feels noticeably lighter than it does than you know

 So there's some clever stuff going on here, which helps all helps with support and comfort through your hike, you'll notice. First, off that the lacing bar goes right down to the toe, so that's kind of borrowed from their climbing technology, and that allows you to tailor the fit precisely over your whole foot. So you can tighten up right down to the toe box here. Get that fit absolutely perfect, varying the lacing tension right, the way up to the top of the ankle and then another feature which is really obvious on the boot

 So, despite the midsole being very supportive, despite the fact you've got this 3f system holding you into the back, there's still good natural flex around the heel when you've got the boot on that allows the ankle joint to flex, naturally forward and backwards to keep that walking. Gait sort of smooth and comfortable so really supportive, well structured, but extremely comfortable with plenty of flex, particularly around the ankle. Another great feature built into the boot one. That'S not hard to miss really

 There is an Eevee, a midsole to provide cushioning and support on uneven ground so nicely controlled lots of support for your feet and then you've got that added, cushioning as well for increased comfort and to reduce fatigue and then on the bottom.  What's not to like about that? These are a bit heavier than the Selewa Alpine Extremes they're replacing (the Wildfire is the Extreme replacement) and the slightly stiffer soles should protect my feet better from sharp rocks and the like. I like the more aggressive sole tread, and I'm happy to trade the more difficult-to-clean tread for better traction.  I'm very happy with these. They arrived quickly, fit well, and I expect years of very solid service
