 In my opinion the 6700 XT just wasn't priced competitively enough and with the shortcomings of Radeon GPUs that I've mentioned a few times now the RTX 3070 just seemed like the better deal. So that's where we are today the RTX 3080 is the best choice at its price point and the RTX 3070 fought off the 6700 XT relatively easily but it's been a bit of a struggle with the RX 6800 as in my opinion there's no clear winner there. As for the new RTX 3070 Ti how does it slot into all of this? With an MSRP of $600 it's priced to compete with either the RX 6800 or RX 6800 XT. It's three and a half percent more than the 6800 but eight percent slower and then eight percent cheaper than the 6800 XT but 18 percent slower

Essentially it was an RTX 3080 with 2GB more VRAM for a 71% increase in price and the extra cores amounted to about a 10% boost on average so a negligible performance uplift

 As we've seen many times in the past Nvidia's 2x FP32 design does work better at 4K and as a result the 3070 Ti is now 15% slower than the 6800 and 22% slower than the 6800 XT. So still pretty big margins there but they are smaller than what was seen at 1440p. Unfortunately though the additional memory bandwidth didn't help the 3070 Ti at 4K as here it was just 7% faster than the 3070. Then picking between the RTX 3070 and RX 6800 has been difficult and ultimately I've been unable to decide on this one

 That's really a minuscule upgrade to the core but thankfully Nvidia has tweaked the memory opting to upgrade the GDDR6 memory with GDDR6X though sadly it features the same 8GB capacity. The upgrade to 19Gbps memory from 14Gbps means that the 256bit wide memory bus now has a theoretical peak bandwidth of 608GBps up from 448GBps so that's a 36% increase. This means while we're only looking at a piddly 4% increase in cores, the 3070 Ti does improve memory bandwidth by 36%. How much this will improve performance overall will likely vary from game to game so that might help make the testing a bit more interesting

Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Review, No One Asked For This

 Welcome back to Harbour Unboxed. Now, last week Nvidia released the GeForce RTX 3080

 Ti and feedback from reviewers was almost unanimously negative. There really wasn't

 a lot to like, in short Nvidia was charging 80% the cost of an RTX 3090 but only gave

 gamers half as much memory and then a much smaller found edition graphics card. Essentially

 it was an RTX 3080 with 2GB more VRAM for a 71% increase in price and the extra cores

 amounted to about a 10% boost on average so a negligible performance uplift. For gamers

 the RTX 3080 Ti was a serious flop but for Nvidia it did allow them to cash in big time

 on silicon that wasn't quite good enough to be binned for use as an RTX 3090 extending

 their profit margins by roughly 70%. So that's the story of the RTX 3080 Ti but what about

 the RTX 3070 Ti? The GeForce RTX 3070 Ti comes in at half the price which is quite incredible

 really and just goes to show how ridiculous the 3080 Ti really is. The 50% reduction in

 price only sees a 40% drop in core count, 14% fewer rops, 33% less memory bandwidth

 and capacity and finally it's worth noting that the RTX 3070 Ti is based on the same

 Geo 104 silicon as the RTX 3070. So with an MSRP of $600 US the 3070 Ti slots in between

 the 3070 and 3080 and that means it's 20% more expensive than the 3070, at least at

 the MSRP, and for that you're getting just 4% more cores with no increase in rops. That's

 really a minuscule upgrade to the core but thankfully Nvidia has tweaked the memory opting

 With that said let's go over the benchmarks using the Founder's Edition model and please

 note all benchmark results are based on AMD and Nvidia GPUs running at the official specifications

 so no factory overclocking. In total I've tested 12 games at 1440p and 4K using our

 Ryzen 9 5950x test system which has been configured with 32GB of dual rank dual channel DDR4

 3200CL14 memory. Okay let's get into the results. First up we've got Assassin's Creed Valhalla

 and this AMD sponsored title heavily favours Radeon GPUs and for whatever reason Nvidia

 has not been able to better optimise their hardware for this game. As a result the 3070

 Ti is 18% slower than the 6800 and 28% slower than the 6800 XT so a massive performance

 difference there. When compared to the 3070 it was 11% faster so not really a huge increase

 there but I suppose it's about what I was expecting given the specifications. As we've

 seen many times in the past Nvidia's 2x FP32 design does work better at 4K and as a result

 the 3070 Ti is now 15% slower than the 6800 and 22% slower than the 6800 XT. So still
