 Not bad. Even a maxed out Assassin's Creed Unity is actually playable at 4K here, a test we still include in our revised benchmark suite, owing to its enormous impact on VRAM and generally challenging performance. However, rerun this comparison at 1080p, and the percentages are much more in Nvidia's favor. 1080 is around 20% faster there

6 GHz, paired with GTX 980 in SLI and stacked up against the GTX 1080. So, you can see here that SLI does have the advantage. In fact, it's about 9% faster, really. But check this out, Crysis 3 on 1080 is indeed faster than two 980s

 And of course, there's Ashes of the Singularity. It's a game that really works well on AMD hardware, overhauling much of the green team's DX11 advantage, even at lower resolutions. And of course, we all know what happens with DX12, where the FuryX comprehensively outpoints TitanX. So what happens when it's stacked up against GTX 1080? Well, based on the benchmarks at 4K, we see this

 And to be frank, we shouldn't really be expecting anything in the way of miracles in terms of DX12 performance in the short term. So check this out. You've already seen that on our test system, at least, there's not a huge boost to Hitman performance, whether you're running on DX11 or DX12, whether you're with AMD or Nvidia. And it's the same thing here with Rise of the Tomb Raider

Nvidia's Titan X used to be the fastest all-round GPU money could buy. But it's not any more. GTX 1080 leaves both Titan X and Fury X for dust. Rich presents his full review here.

Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Review: The New GPU King

> If the RTX 2080 had come in at GeForce 1080 pricing and the RTX 2080 Ti had slapped $100 – $150 on the GTX 1080 Ti, I still wouldn’t be telling anyone to buy these cards expecting to dance the ray-traced mamba across the proverbial dance floor for the next decade. But there would at least be a weak argument for some real-world performance gains at improved performance-per-dollar ratios and a little next-gen cherry on top. With Nvidia’s price increases factored into the equation, I can’t recommend spending top dollar to buy silicon that will almost certainly be replaced by better-performing cards at lower prices and lower power consumption within the next 12-18 months.

 For PowerDraw, the entire bench only drew 252 watts from the wall, which gives you a ton of options in terms of lower wattage power supplies, even SFX power supplies and whatnot. The thermals were standard fare from Nvidia with all of our cards holding steady at around 81 to 83 degrees Celsius. So are Nvidia's claims about it beating a Titan X and SLI 980s true? I'd say mostly. It does cleanly beat the Titan X across the board, but putting it up against a 980 duo is a bit more of a mixed bag

They crammed 8 gigabytes of the stuff inside the 1080, but if you are more inclined to go for the 1070 when that comes out, it also has 8 gigabytes, but just more standard GDDR5. So keep that in mind if you will be disappointed by buying a product that has slightly less X's on its product sheet. But beyond raw specs, there were also some other features that Nvidia baked into the Pascal Pi, such as simultaneous multi-projection, which allows Pascal to project 16 different viewports, each with the ability to rotate in order to better match the current display setup that you have, and it has the ability to project more than one of these viewports at once

 So keep that in mind if you will be disappointed by buying a product that has slightly less X's on its product sheet. But beyond raw specs, there were also some other features that Nvidia baked into the Pascal Pi, such as simultaneous multi-projection, which allows Pascal to project 16 different viewports, each with the ability to rotate in order to better match the current display setup that you have, and it has the ability to project more than one of these viewports at once. This enables graphics techniques such as perspective surround, which can correct image perspectives across multiple monitors, so you don't get that weird warping on multi-monitor surround anymore and like massive scale issues and stuff. That should be fixed

 The 1080 blows everything away in this metric except for the R9 390X in Hitman specifically, but when you consider that the 390X has lower frame rates across the board it's still a pretty darn compelling value to get an aftermarket 1080. So what's our conclusion? Well for $599 if that is your budget for a card the 1080 is a no-brainer. Its ability to hit 60 FPS at 4k with lots of eye candy in the latest titles combined with per frame cost that's basically the lowest in the world of high-end graphics cards right now. It's a pretty obvious choice again if that is your budget

Nvidia has made some pretty bold claims about the GTX 1080... but are those claims accurate? Let's see how it holds up to our slew of tests! :D

Nvidia GTX 1080 Performance Review - The New King

 They've done some things to correct some of the weird distortions around the edges. They've actually pre-warped images for you. They're rendering the geometry in one pass for both eyes instead of one pass for each eye, essentially almost doubling your performance. This is where it really, really has an advantage over a Titan X or a 980 Ti or a 980 or something like that

 You know this card's amazing for VR, but how is it for desktop gaming? Go ahead and click on the next video, and you can see this card against the 980 Ti. I also tried out some indie games, some of my favorites, and my copy of very, very modded Skyrim. Go ahead and check that video out, and at the end of that video, I'll tell you exactly what I think of the price to performance ratio of this card. Go ahead and click and see if it lives up to the hype

 Anyway, so I've got the computer on the floor, sitting at the desk, I could barely even notice a difference. If your phone's on, you're not going to notice this at all, so it's a very quiet card thanks to the vapor chamber, and just the fact that it's a 16 nanometer card, it's not going to get quite as hot. Now, with an overclock, which I did on all the benchmarks, we overclocked it by 200 megahertz for all the benchmarks because it's so easy. You just go in and say, hey, 200 megahertz, and give me 105 or 106% on the power profile, done

 So regardless of which driver you use from Nvidia, I think there's at least three different variants, three or four, you should be looking at the same game compatibility, the same level of performance that is shown here in this video. But for accessing some of the GeForce type features, you can manually install the GeForce Experience, and that worked just fine with any of those drivers. So in summary, I didn't run into any driver compatibility issues with games. And that's about everything I have for you on the Nvidia RTX A4000, at least for now

 So again, Nvidia has dropped the Quadro branding, so not Quadro drivers, but I know what you guys mean. They do of course have a few different driver branches. I installed the production branch slash studio driver, and it worked just fine for all the games that we've tested in this video, and the performance went untouched. So that was good to see, and the same was also true with the new feature branch driver

 Packing 16 GB of ECC memory opposed to just 8 GB for the RTX 3070 Ti, and I suspect this is why many of you are so interested in the A4000. In theory, you should be able to overclock the A4000 to achieve RTX 3070-like performance, but that'll depend on how far you can push the cause and memory, and of course, this is something I'm going to explore. On that note, I should quickly mention that this content is focused exclusively on gaming performance. We don't really care about the benefits the A4000 might bring to video editing, 3D rendering or CAD work, again, at least for this content

 This might be something we explore in a separate content piece, but for this one, we have a heap of gaming data to go over, and of course, the entire point of buying the A4000 was to answer the question, is it worth purchasing over something like an RTX 3070 for gaming? Right out of the gate, the first red flag for the A4000 was the tiny single-slot cooler, and because this is a professional-grade product, Nvidia doesn't allow their partners to design their own custom PCBs and coolers. Anyway, for now it looks like you can only squeeze about 10% more out of the A4000. So to answer the question from our Q&A series, would you consider buying an RTX A4000 over an RTX 3070 for gaming, and if so, how much extra would you spend on the A4000? I'd certainly consider buying it, but I probably wouldn't do so at a premium, so for me the A4000 would really need to cost less than $2,000 Australian, probably somewhere between the 3060 Ti and 3070 Ti, and if I'm honest, probably closer to the 3060 Ti. Wrapping things up, I had a few questions on our private Discord server from Patreon and Floatplay members, so I'll quickly address those

 That's not bad given how much more efficient the A4000 is and the Radeon 6700XD's levels of performance are very good, but again it does come back to the price. But with pricing and availability being awful for all parts right now, I can see how the A4000 might make sense for some of you. The margins relative to the faster RTX 3070 and 3070T remain much the same at 4K, so the bigger memory buffer of the A4000 isn't being utilized here just yet, but that's not surprising, it will probably be a few years yet before it provides the A4000 with a performance advantage. So there you have it, in short, the Nvidia RTX A4000 performs much like a GeForce RTX 3060T, which depending on pricing and availability in your region might make it a viable option

 Not a huge difference, but there's another specification, that could have a more serious influence on performance, and that is the GDDR memory. The 3070T utilizes GDDR6X memory with a throughput of 19 Gbps, and when paired with a 256-bit wide memory bus provides a bandwidth of 608 Gbps. The A4000, on the other hand, uses more traditional GDDR6 memory, offering a throughput of 14 Gbps, and when using the same 256-bit wide memory bus that means memory bandwidth has been reduced by 26% to 448 Gbps. The RTX A4000 does have one advantage though, and that's memory capacity

 However, there are several key differences between how the A4000 and RTX 3070T are configured. First, the cores. Where the RTX 3070T cores operate at a base frequency of 1575 MHz, with a boost of 1770 MHz, the A4000 cores clock as low as 735 MHz, with a boost of just 1560 MHz. That means, under load the RTX 3070T should clock at least 13% higher than the A4000

 I'll test it for you. I'll be the guinea pig and see if it's worth it. I would hate for you to buy it, build a rig, and then everything starts just going out of control and then it overheats or whatever it does. I'm not really too sure on that

 So right off the bat, this thing is getting about 61 MHz, which we'll get into in a few minutes at 125 watts, plus or minus a couple watts. And the MHz moves a little bit. This is non-LHR. Essentially, from my understanding, this card is a non-LHR 3070

 But again, when you start getting this into a rig, when you get it with other ones, I could see that going up a lot and it could potentially be a big problem. I don't know if you could change the thermal pads, but if you can't, that could be an issue. So really think about that, 125 watts at 61.74 mega hash

 It'll say Quadro in the title. I think even the graphics card itself says Quadro. But if it doesn't look like this one, you need to do more research on the brand that you're buying. I'm not really too sure what brand I have, to be honest with you
