 There are no buttons & "pulse" speeds to fiddle around with. The Ninja blade was made for crushing ice.  Every morning, I add 4 Oz of Cold Brewed Organic Coffee Concentrate, 2 Oz of Organic Heavy Creamer, plenty of white sugar (I like the crunch of crystals but liquid stevia provides the same sweet taste), and 3-4 scoops of small cubes from my countertop icemaker. Then I secure the cup with the blade cover, turn it over to place it in the Ninja and blend for a few seconds, wait until I see the creamy froth dripping from the {upward facing bottom now situated as the} "top" of the cup, repeat the blending for 3 or 4 seconds (which merely requires pressing down on the cup) to somewhat liquefy the sugar and, voila, I have my frozen coffee breakfast

 (Finally, I thought I should mention that these drinks last for 8+ hours in normal room temperatures. This is a great blender with two downsides. One -- it is not good at blending the foods at the top. It takes a lot of shaking the foods down to the bottom (towards blade) to get these items blended well. Adding more liquid helps

Food build up there and difficult to get the clear seal out in order to completely clean. Other than these faults, it's a good little blender for one person. Good but two flaws

 I accidentally touched it, so i kind of already blended it a bit. Let'S go all right, so here's the final product um, so i'm gon na pour it into the other cup, and so i think how this is is these are interchangeable cups and the lid. Do yourself a favor and do not buy this blender. I bought one in March and like at least three of the other reviewers have said, the driveshaft stripped. The first occurrence happened after 3 months. I called their support line, and the CSR sent out a new replacement unit free of charge which was great aside from having to wait a week with no functioning blender while the replacement was in the mail

 Instead, I'll be proactive and buy some other, better, blender that is NOT made by Oster, and will use that in the interim for when the replacement replacement of this POS breaks yet again.  Save your dollars, avoid the headache, and look elsewhere for a blender that will last longer than a few months (at best) of making smoothies.

Do not buy this blender if you use any of the functions that reverse the blade. It WILL strip the driveshaft.

 Finally, the food processor container is rather on the small side compared with my old Cuisinart food processor. Overall, meh.
