You do have to contend with a bit of image distortion when zoomed. At 70mm distortion is a nonissue, but you get 1 percent pincushion distortion at 100mm. It causes straight lines to appear to curve inward. It's more pronounced at 135mm (1

 It improves further at f/5.6 (3,770 lines) and f/8 (3,975 lines), peaking at f/11 (3,986 lines). Diffraction cuts into image quality slightly at f/16 (3,616 lines) and more so at f/22 (3,046 lines).

Nikon AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8E FL ED VR Review

 Some people say over at Nikon that the reason they did that is, they got a lot of feedback that people said they wanted the focus ring inside and the zoom on the outside, and that still makes no sense to me. I'Ve gotten used to the fact that my brain has to compute that this is the zoom, and this is the focus. The issue is, when I put the 24 to 70 on right after using the 70 to 200, my hand reaches out to the end of the barrel, and I hit the focus before I actually do this zoom. But why do I hate this lens? It'S because I am no longer as stable as I once was when I was zooming or moving and trying to capture a subject or the subject is moving and I'm trying to capture that old lens picking it up right now

 So now you zoom on the outside and you focus on the inside. I am NOT a fan of this. I wasn't a fan of it when they announced it, but of course this lens is so darn good that it's not a reason not to buy it. Now

 If I bring it in like this, I can move and zoom at the same time, if the zoom ring was right here, the other problem is when you go vertical. You go vertical like this. I'M losing a point of contact over here when I try to use this jog dial, so I'm creating less stability as I'm moving, and you can see that with these photos popping up Fergie's walking on stage, I can't get good composition even when she started to stand Still because I am struggling and fighting because everything is shaky because nothing is really attached, so I'm having trouble keeping this balanced, because I can't tuck my elbows in when this arm goes out to the end like this. It'S now further away from my body, causing it to be less stable, and then I start shaking with the lens, and it's in it's hurting my composition

Why I HATE the NIKON 70-200 2.8 FL (1 Year Review)

 This lens also makes me move around a bit to be more creative vs. just zoom in and out. 50mm lens makes me think more about the shots.  * AF-S 60mm f/2

  * AF-S 85mm f/1.8 : I use this most of the time for adult portraits and it has very good low light performance as well. I choose this over the f/1.4 version because the other reviews I've read on the web did not justify the extra $1000 spend for marginal performance improvement and unless I am getting paid to take pictures all the time, I don't see the need to pay the extra cost for the f/1

8: I use this when I just don't know what kind of pictures I could be taking and need to have zoom & I don't have to move around as much. While I don't take landscape pictures (24mm) often, I will use this for a large group outing, birthday parties when I may need to get a wide shot of a lot of people in a room and be able to have a little bit of zoom capability and not have to walk up so close to the people's face. This allows me to get some candid shots when needed. It's fairly heavy at 2 lbs and huge when you put on the hood so I almost never use this lens when I'm on the street because it attracts a lot of unwanted attention

 This is obviously a monster lens so I avoid taking it for street photos even though I've had some nice pictures and experiences on the street but it's so big... I've had people stopping me asking me if I'm a paparazzi and which celebrity I am stalking

This marvelous new-generation Nikon 70-200MM F2.8 VR II (Vibration Reduction) “Trinity” Tele-Zoom works flawlessly with our Nikon cameras (D800, D3200, D300S). Auto focus is very fast; at mid to far distances, auto focus is literally immediate; at closer distances, it quickly follows, searches and obeys where I want to focus on and with a whispering sound locks the focus with the subject tack sharp in the viewfinder (or Live View). Auto-Focus fine tuning is also dead-on at 0 (no variation) with our D800 and D300S (the D3200 does not have this fine-tuning capability)

 It is incredible to see pictures having virtually fault-less sharpness, contrast, color depth and vibrancy with this Tele-Zoom, which leaves our Sigma 70-200MM F/2.8 APO DG HSM in the dust in every aspect (oh well, the Sigma is less than half the cost), when viewing at actual-pixel magnifications with Photoshop CS6 and ViewNX 2. For example, the tiny reproductive parts of Hibiscus flowers - the yellow stamens and the red pistils – the tiny “hairs” on the stems, and the tiny “veins” of the petals with very subtle color changes, all came out clean and clear within pictures of the whole flowers taken more than six feet away. In comparison with our other Nikon “Trinity” Zoom 24-700MM F

 I have been wanting this lens for well over a year now. I finally received my wish when my amazing husband bought it for me for Christmas.  I have used the Tamron version prior to owning this one. So, my review will be somewhat of a comparison

6 lens, I can tell the difference right the way. The f2.8 and the glass really opens up a whole new world for me. If you thinking about getting this lens, GO FOR IT !!! You will love it

 I posted a few sample image that I took with this news lens. Regarding the weight, you know what you are getting into, so, don't complain. Don't buy a Porsche and expect to put regular unleaded gas. Bottom line, you only live once, get it and you will be very happy with this lens

) That being said, I still like using this lens because when things are in focus, it seems as or slightly more consistently sharp, plus the extra 100mm reach.  (To be clear, for straightforward subjects, this lens focuses very quickly. What seems to be the less than ideal timing is when the camera is focus hunting, or you need to go from one extreme to the other, or focus on very long distance objects against the sky, like flying birds.)

Solid, quality lens that captures great images; sometimes, auto-focus speed could be better.

 I'm going to review this lens from the point of view of a bird photographer

 Which is what I am and what I'm going to do is share lots of photos of what I took with this lens
