If you do not mind buying a used camera, I would recommend shopping for a used FF model instead of buying a new APS-C camera

With Canon you have a wider choice of lenses because they are compatible with lenses made all the way back since the 1990s.  With Nikon, the low end models will only autofocus with AF-S lenses with a focus motor inside the lens. They will not autofocus with AF and AF-D lenses because these lenses need a focus motor in the camera, and the low end Nikon cameras no longer have an inbody focus motor. That is a real disadvantage

Looking at the stores near me, the units/brand I saw are Canon eos 1500D and Nikon D3500 (both brand new, with the kit lens). These cameras are just with in my budget. What are your guys opinions and what are the Pros and Cons between them?

Buying an entry DSLR Camera for college

To be honest, the only reason why I bought this was because all modern digital cameras lack the manual control functionalities of the camera. Nowadays, everything is "automatically" managed by the computer within the camera which, in most cases, ruins the pictures.  I am so glad that I made the switch to this camera! It does everything that my other cameras does not do! It allows me to manually adjust the focus, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, white balance, and so much more!  I will admit that the camera can be a bit "much" to those who are new to the DSLR universe, but I will say that after you play with the camera for a while, you will know all of the menus, options and their locations like a pro!  What I love about this camera is that you have the ability to switch out the stock lens for a macro lens (those insane close up photos) or for a telephoto lens (for those far distant pictures) if you choose! For me, personally, the stock lens does more than enough, but if I have the urge to buy one of the other lenses, I can do that because the camera is made for expand-ability!  Contrary to what others may say, personally, I believe that the JPEG images are super clean and crisp. While you are not supposed to use JPEGs for post-production, I believe you can get away with some minor post with these files

 They are so clean with no visible JPEG compression artifacts! It's a shame that the NEF RAW format is not widely supported, but once it is, I would switch over as soon as possible to get all the color information you need from your photos!  A little notice to new consumers: When you turn off your camera, disable the WIFI on your camera. I accidentally left the WIFI on and forgot about it. The camera, while in the "OFF" position, can still use WIFI, which will drain your battery quickly. But, on a full charge, if WIFI is turned off and dependent on your usage of the camera, the battery can last quite some time!  All in all, I think that this camera is a steal for it's price! For those who want to experience a DSLR camera without breaking the bank, I will definitely get this camera before they're all gone!  (I took 2 pictures of the camera, one with a more practical use of the camera, to show off the color reproduction

 My biggest issue with Canon cameras was the poor battery performance. I used to lug around three spare batteries to feed be beast with Canons. With this camera I can shoot all weekend with one charge. I must also mentioned that the the great deal Amazon gave me on this camera on the Black Friday deal

 Speaking of Sd cards though, you got to mention you have to make sure you get the right one. Only certain Sd cards will work with the 4k video. Other photos and stuff will still work, but you need specifically a Uhs Iu3 compatible memory card to shoot in 4k. I'll link the one I use below to avoid confusion

 That's the big difference. Autofocus for photos is blindingly crazy fast. You can now take photos with a 32 000 of a second electronic shutter that's really fast and you can now record video in full 4k. And there's also now a high frame rate mode that allows you to record video at up to 960 frames per second

 You don't have to buy a thousand dollar camera to start. But if I would nitpick, I would say that this isn't the perfect Youtube camera because of the slower autofocus. Uh, because of the fact that if you want to shoot in 4k, you're limited to 5 minutes and then it'll start to overheat. And if you want to shoot for long periods of time, you're basically using this as a 1080p camera

 I know a lot of people have said like this. You know, because it shoots 4k video and it has such a crispy image is basically like the perfect camera to buy to start a Youtube channel or even run a Youtube channel. You don't have to buy a thousand dollar camera to start. But if I would nitpick, I would say that this isn't the perfect Youtube camera because of the slower autofocus

You use it to set the aperture or you can use it for zoom ring which is handy because up wise you have to use the dial around the shutter button here so you can just use this to zoom and press click clicky click zoom.
