 so unfortunately no gold ring here. The only switch you will find on the body itself is a manual to order switch and if you grab the manual focus ring here then in order mode then it will override the automatic focus. The lens comes with a distance indicator and also a depth of field indicator although it's only 16 F16 they have marked here. I'm happy to say that the manual focus ring works really well and there's no play

 If we stop down to 5.6 you can see that as you would expect in terms of the light fall off, it is much less. There is still some distortion to be corrected, but I mean it is only a click away in the lightroom and I doubt you will be using this lens for architecture photography. So I think this is very fine and in line with my expectations

 It's the lens mount is metal as we know it. Otherwise, I would say this is not exactly top-notch quality. I mean it's okay quality, but you can. You can clearly tell that this is plastic, right? Nygon has spent their energy on the internal things in this lens I'm pretty sure and not so much the externals

 So I got my 85 millimeter used over at Mpp.com and as you can see here, this was my 50 millimeter that came in this box and the 85 millimeter came in this. So they have significantly upgraded me in terms of size of the box.  It just really depends on how good your camera body is I Had it on my D750 and now on my Z6 and the autofocus is actually still pretty good with this lenses. You know what? it's not super fast, but you know you'd be surprised to find how fast it is once you use it. One of the bad things I didn't like about this lens.  Then 85 millimeter 1.8 g lens was announced back in 2011. It does have a 67 millimeter filter thread, the aperture ranges from F 1.8 all the way to F-16 and it does have an AFS motors so when you are focusing it is going to be pretty quiet

I wouldn't want this hanging on my neck or shoulders for a long period of time

8 : I use this most of the time for adult portraits and it has very good low light performance as well. I choose this over the f/1.4 version because the other reviews I've read on the web did not justify the extra $1000 spend for marginal performance improvement and unless I am getting paid to take pictures all the time, I don't see the need to pay the extra cost for the f/1.4

 I do have to crop at times to get rid of the cluttered background but with the D600 camera, I have enough megapixel details to crop my pictures when needed. This is obviously a monster lens so I avoid taking it for street photos even though I've had some nice pictures and experiences on the street but it's so big..

 With my 50mm lens I'd have had to crop it quite a bit and lose out on some resolution. My 24-120 F/4 zoom lens would have worked OK but it's not as nearly as good in low light. This lens will get the nod anytime I want to capture human subjects.  Are they any negatives? The only negative I can identify is that I'd prefer this lens was nano-coated

  Some may say the lack of VR is a negative but I don't agree. I'm glad this lens doesn't have VR as the VR system would add weight and with a wide 1.8 aperture I don't see that it would be particularly useful in this application.  All the positive reviews are correct, this lens is an amazing value and is a wonderful addition to your FX Nikon

Lens well suited for Portraits and low light conditions.

 I like using prime lenses. They lighter, cheaper (1.4 is an exception) and sharper that most pro zoom lenses. Photography is a hobby and I would not want to spend a lot for pro zooms that is why I settled on the next best thing

 Nice detail is that there are grooves on the bottom part of the lens to provide more grip while you are mounting the lens on the camera, because the area where you can grip the lens while mounting it is pretty short, there is no switch to turn the autofocus on and off, you can do that in the camera, but it is not image stabilized. On Sony cameras it provides full functionality, so the autofocus works in every mode, including face detection, eye autofocus does work, face tracking works as well and so does the clear image zoom which works with every lens on Sony a6500. And now let's take a look at the performance, instead of the paper tests I will test it in real world using our testing landscape and the central sharpness is very good right from f1.4

 So first of all what is it? Well it is wide angle lens with 24mm full frame equivalent focal length and very wide f1.4 aperture, that means that it lets in a lot of light and it can blur the background even at that wide 16mm focal length. It is made mostly of metal, the rear part of this lens is fully metal up to the rubberized focusing ring, the build quality of this lens is top notch, it feels incredibly solid, it feels like a premium product, matte black surface finishing is very nice and it will probably be quite durable, it has some heft to it, it is actually pretty small considering that it is wide angle lens with such wide aperture, because there has to be a lot of glass to concentrate all of that light onto the sensor. The length of this lens is 92

4 center sharpness is very good and stop down it is razor sharp from corner to corner, it is also very suitable for landscape shooting, autofocus with this lens on a6000 series cameras is excellent in both stills and video and this lens also provides full functionality as if it was Sony lens. For me this lens also changes usability of Sony aps-c cameras, where the lens selection is generally perceived as a weakness of the system and now there is finally a specialized wide angle wide aperture lens available for the system, until now only Fujifilm had 16mm f1.4 lens for aps-c and it costs more than twice as much as sigma 16mm f1.4, not even Canon and Nikon make one, there is a Leica 12mm f1

 Overall the build quality is excellent, there is nothing that I could complain about, lens hood is also supplied and the quality of the lens hood is also very good like on other Sigma lenses that I've tested, there is also 67mm filter thread for mounting filters. In terms of handling and controls, there is just the focusing ring, it is extremely smooth, it takes up half of the length of the lens, the amount of resistance and the travel of the ring are in my opinion perfect, so this lens is very suitable for manual focusing and in Sony a6500 it also shows the focusing distance scale on the display, focus peaking and focus magnification are available as well. Sigma 16mm F1.4 DC DN Review ft. Sony A6500 - Very Impressive Wide Angle Lens for E-mount

4 are very satisfactory, comparable to the shots I make with my preferred Sony 28 mm f2. Update: I tested it over the weekend and I am impressed. The small photos here might not tell, but the actual size pics show that lens is very sharp at low light even when wide open, and there are close to no chromatic aberrations at high contrast. A wonderful lens I can highly recommend!

 I still have to test it for videos, what I can see and read in youtube it performs very well though. The pictures I took with this Sigma 16mm f1.4 are very satisfactory, comparable to the shots I make with my preferred Sony 28 mm f2. Update: I tested it over the weekend and I am impressed

 Howdy again everyone, and today we're looking at another Insigma series of bright aperture lenses for APS-C mirrorless cameras, and this one looks a little exciting, the 16mm f1.4 DC-DNC for contemporary. It's for Sony's E-mount cameras, and Micro Four Thirds with their smaller sensors, and it costs about £380 in the UK, or $400, making it potentially good value for money, if it's any good. I'd like to thank Sigma UK for loaning me a review copy of this lens for testing, although as usual, this is a totally independent review
