On a crop sensor like my D500 it's magic
I've been shooting for almost 10 years, I'm a Commercial Photographer shooting on a Nikon D750 and D500. I've had dozens of lenses DX and FX, but this is hands down the sharpest, cleanest lens I've ever used. On a crop sensor like my D500 it's magic. Forget the 35mm f/1.8 or the 50mm f/1.4, spend th...
An Extraordinary Performer, a Best Value Buy, Plus Several Alternatives and Some Tips
What a find! This is one of Nikon's best lenses and yet it is one of its cheapest--a remarkable bargain. In particular, it is an exceptionally sharp lens. Nikon 85mm f/1.8G Review - Photography Life
This is an in-depth review of the Nikon 85mm f/1.8G prime portrait lens that was announced in January of 2012. The Nikon 85mm f/1.8G is a consumer-grade portrait lens for enthusiasts and seasonal pros that need quality optics of a fixed portrait lens at an affordable price point. Its large aperture ...
Nikon AF-S Nikkor 85mm f/1.8G Review
Nikon's series of f/1.8G prime lenses is a boon to photographers who use the company's D-SLR cameras. Each one we've tested has been a solid performer, and affordably priced. The Nikon AF-S Nikkor 85mm f/1.8G is no different. It's quite sharp, even at f/1.8, fairly light, and a great deal at $499.95...
Review of the Nikkor 85m f/1.8G AF-S versus other Nikkor 85mm AF lenses
DESCRIPTION OF THE LENS FOR THE NOVICE OR BEGINNER This lens is light, compact affordable, but produces very impressive results. I highly recommend the use of this lens for portrait, events and for landscape. Despite it being a fixed focal length and not being able to zoom, I highly recommend this l...
I have a 35mm prime lens....
I love prime lenses for their low light abilities, background blur, and my ability to "see" the shot before I take it because the distance is set. I am just a hobbiest and small business here....but when I did all my exhaustive research on this lens I couldn't quite find answers to this question so ...
Love this for portrait!
I bought this for quick portraits and great blur and man it's fantastic. The f/1.8 is tact sharp and at great alternative to the much pricier f/1.4 option ($1500). The performance between the 2 lens is marginal. If you're getting paid as a pro photographer then you may get the f/1.4 but for the rest...
Great Lens, great value!
Love this lens. I've been planning for one of these foro some time. I rented it for a shoot in New York for a week and bought it because I didn't want to be without it. It's plastic so you won't be hammering nails but it's a great lens to have i your tool kit. I got this primarily for portrait use, ...
