 The weight plates for each step are 5lbs. On the EXP model they are 10lbs. In practice that means that you do do not need to mess with the adder weights at all, except when you want to micro load.  I would also add that for your average man, 50 lbs is plenty for dumbbells

 Given the way they are shaped, exercises where you hold the flat end of the dumbbell with two hands just isn't the same with these dumbbells. You can still do them, however. The other way these are not like traditional dumbbells is I wouldn't drop these. Some people have said that dropping them short distances is fine but I wouldn't

The Pro model that Amazon sells is not the expandable version but that has some plusses.

 Do not buy this product if you want to expand to 70 or 90 lbs. With this model you are capped at 50 lbs max (per dumbbell.) After an hour long support chat and an $81 restocking fee (which I'm told will be refunded), I'm off to buy the correct set directly from the manufacturer.

 But someone without the proper tools and know how may not be able to. I ordered these to get back in shape and I think they will do nicely after I fix the problem. But in the state I recieved them only one dumbbell is usable. I would be happy to update this to a 5 star if powerblock were to rectify this situation

Came a bit messed up

First off, I was fortunate enough to buy mine just over a week ago for just under $400. This is the price, give or take fifty bucks. For people charging $600 or more for the 5 to 50lb set is straight up price gouging. The manufacturer charges about $450 for the set and announces when they have stock on their instagram and twitter feeds

Great dumbbell set

I don't think the product manager actually used these or maybe they used them wearing lulu lemon tights, because if you wear an old pair of cargo shorts when you're working out (like pretty much every guy), the protrusions and the little red lever, catch on your shorts constantly (esp when doing curls). I had the older set and loved them and was looking forward to these but now I'm wanting my originals back. When I originally ordered these I had to buy them direct from Powerblock, but the review will do the most good here. You've been warned
