I ended up ditching my nexar cam just for this reason. It was a great camera, but it would drain my battery even when I was not in my truck because it would constantly connect to my phone.

 The sticky mount option is available on Nexar's website so if you drive a truck or RV or your vehicle sports a flat windshield then the sticky mount would work better than the suction cup mount. The mount for the IR camera is a sticky mount so it will be more of a permanent setup. Just peel the backing of the 3M tape and stick it on your windshield. Again the IR camera is designed to record the interior of your car so the camera needs to face inside the car

 These are definitely fun features but like we said they're only available on iOS right now. Now the Nexar Pro does have a parking mode recording feature but unlike the other dashcams that we're used to you don't need a hardwiring kit in order to enable parking mode on the Nexar Pro. And that's because there's a small built-in battery in the dashcam that allows it to detect both motion and impact and record a 10 to 30 second video clip. The Nexar app will also notify you if there were any incidents that triggered parking mode recording once you're back in the car

 A suction cup mount and a 3M adhesive mount. Now the mount that you're going to get with your Nexar Pro when you purchase from Black Box My Car is the 2021 version and it comes with a GPS embedded suction cup mount. The sticky mount option is available on Nexar's website so if you drive a truck or RV or your vehicle sports a flat windshield then the sticky mount would work better than the suction cup mount. The mount for the IR camera is a sticky mount so it will be more of a permanent setup

 One thing to keep in mind Nexar's parking mode is ignition based which means the dashcam will go into parking mode once it detects a break in the power supply. With that said if you have a constant 12 volt socket in your car for example it's always on then the dashcam will not go into parking mode and it will drain your car battery. And do note that there is no option within the app to configure how sensitive you want the G sensor to be. This is very different from Thinkware and other dashcams where you can select how parking recording is done, customize the sensitivity level of the sensors, and even enable or disable parking recording

So if quality is your main thing, this is not the camera to go to

 Alright, so let me just give you my quick review on this. The Nexar camera in concept is a good idea, is a good camera, but the quality is not that good compared to other cameras in the same specs. And that's if you're pulling it natively from the SD card. Now if you're pulling it from the cloud, you're going to get 720p, so from 1080 it's going to be scaled down to 720p

 And then when you go back to the car, you can pull that video, I'm not sure. But again, that's to be tested. And the video quality, again, even though it's not the best, I won't say it's a necessary con or pro, but it is better than most other cheap cameras. And I'd say this is a cheap camera, but it's not bad quality

 I haven't fully tested that feature yet, but it does have a parking mode. I got the Viofo A129 because it does well in the heat. Make sure your memory card is rated for hot climates, too.

Brand new to the sub, since I live in Texas is it ok to leave your dash cam inside the car with the Texas heat? Will it mess up the dash cam?

 Sub $50 home security cameras have equal or better video quality. And face it, that's all these "Dash Cams" are - security cameras mounted into a car. They all come with the camera, a power wire, etc. The only difference is that one has GPS (which does not cost $150

 Video quality is gonna be less, but at least you got every angle of your vehicle covered..  The video from the rear camera at night is pretty terrible unless you are driving in downtown with a street light every 10 feet, and no cars around you. Its very grainy, and the glare from the headlights from the vehicles behind you make the footage almost use less

 Quality is "meh." It's not great, but it's not the worse I've seen. Sub $50 home security cameras have equal or better video quality. And face it, that's all these "Dash Cams" are - security cameras mounted into a car

  They put the microSD card slot on the opposite side of the camera from how it detaches from the mounting base, so when you push the card in, or push to remove the card, its pops the camera of the mounting base. And when you have this thing mounted behind your mirror, its not easy to line up the camera with the mount to reattach them.  Now on to video quality.

Design not compatible with usage.

 It's $10 more than the old A129 Duo at the time of recording, but it's fully $70 cheaper than the Pro 4K. So it's quite likely to represent a better value proposition, and that's what I'll be looking at in this video. And I do need to say thank you to Blackbox My Car for sending me this review unit to take a look at. I need to disclose that, although I haven't committed to saying anything particularly positive, as you'll find out

 It has a very good value for money proposition. If you wanted better performance like 4K, high resolution, then you could step up to the A129 Pro, then you would get that resolution on paper. But it's quite a lot more money to spend, and I think if you were willing to spend that total amount of money, you might be better off selecting a different brand at that point. But if you don't want to spend that much money, then down where we are with this camera, I'd say it's fairly hard to beat

 So that brings us to the conclusion of this review. Now remember, I have been reviewing a version 1.0 firmware camera, so hopefully any issues that I've discussed have been sorted or will be sorted with time. The value in this camera I think really lies in its price points

Review: Viofo A129 PLUS Duo dash cam front/rear, parking mode, 1440p60 f/1.6, features & problems

4 volt option, I would get about 12 hours of service before the power saver cut out, which is enough to stretch overnight, for example, if you're using the car daily. Now that's just my battery in the current temperature here in winter. So your experience will vary accordingly. But that's just to give you a ballpark idea

 So that's something for the future. But for now, this is about as good as you can get for the money. So well recommended for sure. Okay, so I hope that was helpful

 So on they go, and from now on everything in this review will be with these installed as I consider them basically a permanent addition. And that's the rear camera set too. Finally, you'll notice this camera came with the GPS mount module pre-installed. That's the square bit at the top here

 For example, this is at the five frames per second recording option. If you play the video file normally, you get this sped up result. Or if you were to slow it down and play it at real time, you get this. Now this gives you a good compromise between full time security and card space and file management

 But it's really OTT for a parking mode. It uses less space than in the driving mode because the files come in at about four megabits per second. But the footage quality tends to it does tend to hold up because the pictures obviously mostly still when parked, which means the codec has an easier time. But this mode still ends up occupying the card with hundreds of little files

Review: Viofo A129 Duo dash cam front/rear with parking mode, 1080p30 f/1.6

 Viofo does include 2 extra pre-cut mounting adhesive pads (3 total) for both the front and rear cameras in case you don't get it right the first time! My advice here is to take your time, line up the camera mark it and then remove the non stick backing from the mounting pad and then stick it down lightly and make sure you have it aligned properly before fully pressing it down. That tape really sticks! Don't ask me how I know this! Did I mention to take your time through this mounting process!!!!! There are plenty of configuration settings on camera menus that allow you to adjust it to your needs. Good to excellent video quality that is bright and clear with menu settings to adjust to your preference. I use both my home computer desktop and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge to connect to the phones wifi

 I'm really hoping Viofo listens to customers input and with a few well thought out firmware and software changes this Viofo dashcam could be even better! I will update this review once the CPL filter and the three wire hardware kit is available and I'm able to use it with the parking mode. As is usual with reviews don't take my word for it. Check for yourself, compare my comments to others, read about it on other forums and then make your own decision that you have verified will work for you! All in all from what I have seen so far (pending on how the things mentioned above perform) I would buy it again.

I use both my home computer desktop and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge to connect to the phones wifi. It works great and connects reliably every time. The Android software app could use a facelift and a few more bells and whistles but it works well

Rear camera installation:  I strongly recommend you install the front camera first and then attach the rear camera, use your Phone to check the back camera framing (that's why it's important to setup the camera and app at home first before installing in your car, you'll be able to learn all of this), and attach the thick cable in both cameras and power everything so you can check angles first.  Usually many cars have those brown antifog stripes. That's why i Recommend checking angles before installing/attaching the rear camera, because the stripe will eventually appear in the camera feed, so you don't want it blocking the lower part of the lens, where you are supposed to see/record the licence plate

  NOTE: Change the power adapter. It's recommended that you use the one in the box. The prior one might have a lower power output, and this might compromise device functionality. And last but not least, if you want it to connect to the Viofo app, you have to turn on the Wi-Fi on the Viofo dashcams itself. So like we said before, let's click on the record button and have that stop recording

 When you're just using just the one channel, you can actually get 2k recording at 60 frames per second. However, if you want front and rear coverage, you're gonna be reduced back to 30 frames per second, but it's still great. So let's start off by looking at the Viofo A129 one channel plus variant. So if we compare that in terms of hardware with the Viofo A119v3, it uses the same chipset, so you can expect that the video quality will be more or less the same

 16 gigs is quite small even with H.265 compression. So for us, what we prefer and recommend customers is just getting a larger size SD card that you can stick into your A129 Plus so that you can hold all your storage from there. EXCLUSIVE: VIOFO A129 Plus Duo 2K Dash Cam | In-Depth Review | BlackboxMyCar

 Now after the original A129 came out they released a Pro model and that one has 4k in the front and 1080p in the rear. So now this one is sort of an intermediate model between the original and the Pro 4k model but I think this might actually be replacing the original because I think the price is the same at 180 dollars. You can see here though this one has quad HD in the front and full HD in the rear. The original A129 was only full HD in the front and rear which is 1080p

 Now normally on windows if you format a memory card that's over 32 gigabytes it'll format it in a different format so if you format a 32 gigabyte card it will automatically be in fat32. There is software you can use to format larger memory cards in fat32 but for me the easier thing was just to stick a 32 gigabyte card into my computer format it to fat32 and then drag and drop those three files onto the memory card and then as you can see in the instructions after it installs the front camera firmware then you have to hold the far right button down or you just press it once and it starts uploading the firmware to the rear camera. Now because the rear camera is different from the previous a129 models I believe the rear camera cable is different also so if you have one of those and you install or upgrade to this one you will need to use the new rear camera cable. So with the parking mode you're still getting the improved parking mode 2
