I ended up ditching my nexar cam just for this reason. It was a great camera, but it would drain my battery even when I was not in my truck because it would constantly connect to my phone.

 The sticky mount option is available on Nexar's website so if you drive a truck or RV or your vehicle sports a flat windshield then the sticky mount would work better than the suction cup mount. The mount for the IR camera is a sticky mount so it will be more of a permanent setup. Just peel the backing of the 3M tape and stick it on your windshield. Again the IR camera is designed to record the interior of your car so the camera needs to face inside the car

 These are definitely fun features but like we said they're only available on iOS right now. Now the Nexar Pro does have a parking mode recording feature but unlike the other dashcams that we're used to you don't need a hardwiring kit in order to enable parking mode on the Nexar Pro. And that's because there's a small built-in battery in the dashcam that allows it to detect both motion and impact and record a 10 to 30 second video clip. The Nexar app will also notify you if there were any incidents that triggered parking mode recording once you're back in the car

 A suction cup mount and a 3M adhesive mount. Now the mount that you're going to get with your Nexar Pro when you purchase from Black Box My Car is the 2021 version and it comes with a GPS embedded suction cup mount. The sticky mount option is available on Nexar's website so if you drive a truck or RV or your vehicle sports a flat windshield then the sticky mount would work better than the suction cup mount. The mount for the IR camera is a sticky mount so it will be more of a permanent setup

 One thing to keep in mind Nexar's parking mode is ignition based which means the dashcam will go into parking mode once it detects a break in the power supply. With that said if you have a constant 12 volt socket in your car for example it's always on then the dashcam will not go into parking mode and it will drain your car battery. And do note that there is no option within the app to configure how sensitive you want the G sensor to be. This is very different from Thinkware and other dashcams where you can select how parking recording is done, customize the sensitivity level of the sensors, and even enable or disable parking recording

 Alright, so let me just give you my quick review on this. The Nexar camera in concept is a good idea, is a good camera, but the quality is not that good compared to other cameras in the same specs. And that's if you're pulling it natively from the SD card. Now if you're pulling it from the cloud, you're going to get 720p, so from 1080 it's going to be scaled down to 720p

 And then when you go back to the car, you can pull that video, I'm not sure. But again, that's to be tested. And the video quality, again, even though it's not the best, I won't say it's a necessary con or pro, but it is better than most other cheap cameras. And I'd say this is a cheap camera, but it's not bad quality

The image quality is better than other options i have found and all videos look amazing online, however, the camera i recieved has 'orbs' around all lights and seems like the unit was never tested for image quality. searching online many people have had the same issue. Had high hopes

 And in this video, I wanna take a closer look here at this new A119 mini, and I wanna answer two main questions. Number one, first off, what are the differences and improvements here with this newer version of the A119? And then number two, given that both dash cams are gonna continue to be sold, the newer version is not replacing the previous version, should you save some cash by opting for the A119v3, or does it make sense to spend the extra couple bucks to upgrade to the newer A119 mini? So starting off, let's begin with some of the physical differences between the two dash cams. So over here on the left, we have the classic, the A119v3, and over on the right, we have the newer A119 mini. Now, how much smaller is the new mini version? Well, if we take a look at the two dash cams here side by side, you'll notice that it is a little bit shorter, top to bottom, and it's also a little bit thinner left to right as well

 And this newer additional connector is gonna allow you to get longer parking record times. And the way that it achieves that is gonna allow the dash cam to actually turn off the GPS mount and not get power to it, but still allow the dash cam to be powered while you're parked. So without using the GPS feature while you're parked, you're gonna be getting additional parking record times here with the newer version of the dash cam, which is really nice. You'll also notice here that the newer one actually uses USB type C instead of the older one, which uses mini USB, which is a welcome change

 And so down in the video description, I'm gonna have links to both dash cams. Definitely take a look because I do notice that pricing varies. Sometimes there's coupons and discounts and all that kind of stuff. So definitely take a look there to see the latest pricing

Viofo A119 v3 vs. A119 Mini: Comparison Review

After 4 dedicated years, my Viofo A119 finally is shitting the bed. It refuses to write to micro SD cards now; I've tried a couple and even bought a new SD card.

 Looked in the manual, found an entry: "Parking Recording Timer: set the parking recording duration." so not only is it backwards, it doesn't not explain _what_ the setting _is_! is it the total time it _could_ record? the total time it _will_ record? the total time it will record _once it detects an event_? among the 3, I don't know, because..

.. parking mode requires the 3-wire kit, and as far as i can tell, a constant power supply. I hooked it up to a portable battery and let it do its thing as a quick (unscientific) test

 I've tested motion detection: it does detect me walking by. loop recording feature - from what I can gather, if it fills up the memory card, it will delete the oldest first as it makes new recordings. loop recording override - if this recording is one you want to save, hit a button, and it moves it so it won't be deleted by the above feature. These 2 features are enough reason for me to not just grab a raspberry pi and a webcam

 Takes a lot of setup; defaults to kph and dd/mm/yyyy and so I had to change all that. Plus I don't need nor want sound recording - I cuss drivers enough I don't need to hear myself doing that on some recording. Difficult to tell if sound recording is off - there is a tiny icon that you'd need an electron microscope to read, and you can turn it off in the main menu but that does nothing. I think I have it off

Literally the so called "parking modes" will drain your battery. I hooked it up with the HK3 adapter which has a low voltage cutoff but unless parking mode is off this thing is gonna record 24/7/365. I have a 256 GB card but even that will start to overwrite at around 20 hours.  I don't know if it will take Louisiana summer heat - I'll update the review when I find out (next year maybe)

 Difficult to tell if sound recording is off - there is a tiny icon that you'd need an electron microscope to read, and you can turn it off in the main menu but that does nothing. I think I have it off. I'll pull the card in a week or so and see (or hear).  My suggestion for the manufacturer is, bag the sound recording and make the GPS an optional addon, then raise the price $10

When my vehicle is parked in direct sunlight the interior of my vehicle does get to about 140 degrees Fahrenheit or 60 degrees Celsius. I started off my testing of the A119 mini with a pre-production unit sent to me by Viofo and that unit when installed on my vehicle experienced some overheating events while in parking mode of course again that's a very challenging hot environment

 One additional thing I need to point out is the production unit that I purchased does have an electrical problem of some sort with the speaker sometimes it would work and sometimes it wouldn't so that may be contributing to the particular power down event that I'm having in normal recording mode but again I found that the A119 mini does generate a lot of heat and does get very hot while in direct sunlight so keep that in mind when you're making your purchase decision for the A119 mini. Here are my final thoughts on the Viofo A119 mini dash camera. It captures quad high definition video at up to 60 frames per second the video quality during daytime is very good at nighttime it is acceptable I wish it was a little bit more clear although my particular vehicle does have some pitting on the front windshield so you will see that as potentially what looks like dirt on the windshield but it's not it's actually just the pitting on the windshield and that's more noticeable at night. It's nice the Wi-Fi support in this dash camera supports 2

 This is an improvement over the 4 pin version of the GPS logger such as in the A129 Pro dash camera. The A119 Mini supports 3 different types of parking modes but it must be powered using the optional HK4 hardware and kit to obtain this functionality. VIOFO A119 Mini Review | $139 USD Budget Dash Camera

 Hey, what's up, guys? So I recently went on vacation to go visit my in-laws down in Columbia. And for both of their cars, I wanted to go ahead and give them a set of dash cams. And I was looking for something simple, but still really effective, good video quality and a nice feature set and compact that I could put in their vehicle. And for both of those vehicles, I settled on the VFO A119 V3

 My Spanish isn't that good, so I wound up having to download the manuals online on my phone just to get the English version, so I knew where to plug everything into. Plus I brought some extra cables and stuff just in case, because I didn't know what type of fuse taps they would have in their car. I wound up using all the ones that I needed, plus I actually broke one of the cables, and so I wound up having to repair on the spot because they didn't have a way of actually replacing it when I was down there. So it was a little bit tricky to get the install done, plus I wound up cutting my hands up and stuff, which is typical, I guess, for some of these installs

 And so the dash cam is actually continuing to improve compared to when I reviewed it a couple of years ago. And there's been other dash cams that have come out since, but I've still been really impressed with the A119 V3s as just a good dash cam to put up on the windshield and give you good video quality and good features and capabilities when you're driving out on the road. Now for the install, I also picked up a set of hardwire cables to get them hardwired into the car and a 256 gig card to pop in as well. And then of course, since I was traveling, I brought a bunch of tools with me, but I ran into a number of issues with the install that made it a little bit tougher since I wasn't at home to go and grab more tools

 Now I reviewed that dash cam a couple of years ago and I really, really liked it. And I noticed that since then, since I've reviewed the dash cam, VFO has made some additional improvements to things like adding additional resolution options or adding higher frame rates or a new HDR feature. And so the dash cam is actually continuing to improve compared to when I reviewed it a couple of years ago. And there's been other dash cams that have come out since, but I've still been really impressed with the A119 V3s as just a good dash cam to put up on the windshield and give you good video quality and good features and capabilities when you're driving out on the road

Viofo A119 v3 Dashcam: Still Excellent in 2022

 Complex and quickly changing scenes are better handled by this camera than many others. But there are a couple of minor downsides to its image quality. Although the high quality lens elements and image sensor make for very sharp video quality, it's apparent that the camera software further sharpens the image, to the point it is a tad over-sharpened. You can see this with the edge contrast halos on hard contrasting edges

 The larger the field of view, the more of a fish eye effect there is, which makes objects in front of the camera appear further away, and also exaggerates the apparent speed of the dash camera. But above all, a larger field of view sacrifices the small details, like capturing license plate numbers clearly from further away, and also introduces the likelihood of color fringing around the edges of the frame. I prefer to sacrifice a little field of view for clearer video, less of a fish eye effect, and a greater ability to capture license plate numbers from a distance. But your needs may be different than mine

 Other than that, there have been no other issues in the week I've owned the two cameras. In conclusion of this review, I would definitely recommend this camera without hesitation. There is no such thing as a perfect camera that has all pros and no cons, but this comes very close. So despite a relatively few very minor shortcomings, this is the best overall dashcam I have ever owned, with spectacular image quality and capabilities in all lighting conditions

 Another downside is that there is a whole lot of aliasing and moir patterns appearing pretty much anywhere there are straight lines or repeating patterns. Again, for a dash cam, this is a total non-issue for me. But if I was using this professionally, it would be a problem. For anyone who's picky, this flaw is completely overshadowed by the spectacular quality and performance of this camera, which by far is the highest image quality of any dash cam I've ever owned
