I have The Nexar Beam and it’s disappointing . It might be that I am not savvy enough about iPhone connectivity but the dang thing typically only starts recording after a couple of minutes of driving and frequently doesn’t record at all.

Awful customer support, unreliable and buggy, SD cards unreadable by Mac, half the time you can't get your footage. 

Interior footage doesn't download, you have to sit ***in*** your car with the engine running to view anything or make clips. It's a hassle, a nightmare, and nothing but runaround and useless copy-pasted BS from "customer support".

Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

Thinking of buying a dash cam? AVOID Nexar.

 It's worth saying it's only clips you can do that with and not full drives, but you could just create a very long clip. The video quality as you've seen throughout this video is really crisp and clear and just looks really, really good. The wide angle is wide enough to capture all of the road you want it to and it even performs well at night or in darker settings. The only thing you really need to look out for if you're going to buy one of these, especially if you want to make use of that video syncing with your phone feature, is how much memory your phone actually has

  That being said, the unit is compact enough to hide behind my rear view mirror and out of my line of sight from the driver seat, the video quality is excellent both day and night, the setup was pretty straightforward, and editing clips from full drives is a breeze on the Nexar app.  Overall, I guess that having a live stream to my phone that is easily stored and edited is a fair trade off for some overzealous connectivity.

 I haven't had a plethora of dash cams, but I did want to take a look at one that I picked up, and I picked it up because I saw it on, yes, an Instagram ad. Now, those always pull me in. I've always wanted to buy things I see on Instagram ads. I don't know why

 I got a 10% off coupon, so it was $89, but I had to pay for the additional SD card, which I regret doing. I kind of thought it was baked in storage and that I was paying for just more storage on the device itself, but it was just a random SD card. So I probably could have saved myself the however 20, 30 bucks it was. I'll put on screen exactly how much it was, but I could have saved myself that headache and I have plenty of SD cards I could have just popped in there

 I guess it's not really that different because I've only done one video on this channel, but I'm going to be taking a look at a dash cam. Now, I'm no dash cam expert. I haven't had a plethora of dash cams, but I did want to take a look at one that I picked up, and I picked it up because I saw it on, yes, an Instagram ad. Now, those always pull me in

 In addition to the little stick on clamps and the SD card, it also came with the charging cable, as I mentioned, the windshield mount, which we'll take a look at in a sec, the dual USB cigarette adapter and then the easy installation kit. So all that is what is in the box and the cam itself, of course, but nothing too special inside. So let's go ahead and take a look at the installation

With Nexar, unfortunately, you can't do that. There is also no way to reformat the SD card itself directly in the phone or in the app

 There was a original A129 Duo and then a single channel version actually. The difference between this and the A119, if you get the single channel version, the design is slightly different. It seems higher quality but it also has wi-fi so that's one benefit of this. With wi-fi there is an app you can use to view your files wirelessly and then you can save, transfer and save your video files to your phone wirelessly in case you need to save some sample footage

 So I hope this video was helpful for you guys. I'll provide links down in the description to my other viafo reviews give you a chance to see the video quality of those other models that I didn't directly compare because I don't have them all anymore other than the a119 v3. Again check down in the description to those video reviews. I'll provide affiliate links down in the description

 Now after the original A129 came out they released a Pro model and that one has 4k in the front and 1080p in the rear. So now this one is sort of an intermediate model between the original and the Pro 4k model but I think this might actually be replacing the original because I think the price is the same at 180 dollars. You can see here though this one has quad HD in the front and full HD in the rear. The original A129 was only full HD in the front and rear which is 1080p

0 sometime soon. So guys overall I think this is another good product from viafo. viafo is one of my three favorite dashcam companies. They're not the most high tech out there but they typically have some of the best video quality in their cameras and while they don't have as advanced parking mode features as BlackV or Thinkware they are typically much cheaper much more affordable and I would argue a good value for the price you pay for them too

 Vifo did reach out and send this to me for review so I'd like to thank them for reaching out to me. If you guys aren't aware, there are several A129 models and I got a lot of similar questions because there was the A119 originally and they're on version 3 of that, not including the Pro and G versions, but right now they're on the A119v3 and people constantly ask if there's a two channel version of that. That's basically what this A129 model is. Now this is actually the third version of the A129 also

 Now in my car, the rear window is not ideal for a rear camera because the rear window in my car, you can probably see that is half tinted. So half of it is white, half of it is black, and it's kind of slanted in a weird way. So definitely not the best rear window for a rear camera. I can vouch that Viofo A129 Plus Duo works great in high heat. Mine bakes in the sun all day outdoor parking in the central valley when I'm there for work and it has zero recording issues. Duo, Plus Duo, and Pro Duo are respectively 1080p, 2k, and 4k resolution for the front camera; rear is always 1080p.

With a zillion on the market, I’m hoping this group will help me find just the right cam. My requirements:

• 1080 or better resolution
• front and rear cameras
• be able to remove front camera
• tolerates southern CA heat
• under $150

Help selecting the right dashcam.

 Negative was this placement calls for a much smaller cable which through me for an another challenge.  Turns out, a mini usb to mini usb that is 5in and is MEANT FOR THIS JOB is impossible to find. BEWARE, you may find a mini usb to mini usb cable that is small, but most likely won’t work because it isn’t configured to connect a camera to another camera. Viofo makes a “shorter” cable but is still way too long for my job

 Then go to the time zone settings and appropriately select the time zone. In my case, the camera defaulted 6 hours faster than my actual time. I then went to time zone settings and selected GMT-6 and the problem was solved. Syncing with the cell phone is only temporary unless the time zone is correct
