I still feel like you should get the telen 103 It's a really great microphone and it helps you get that modern sound that you might be looking for It is a brighter microphone because of that extended range of it being a transformer list microphone Maybe you want to record drums and stuff like that transformer list microphones get less distortion now with the u87 I'm not sure if I can recommend this microphone as a home studio Microphone unless you have a well-treated room This microphone can pick up a lot of the room noises and it will expose the fact that you need acoustic treatment I've seen a lot of famous people use the u87 in like crazy untreated rooms and conditions and stuff like that And I'm starting to think that's cat or maybe like the mixing engineer is not using a lot of compression or something like that I'm not sure how they're doing it I just don't believe that you can use a u87 in a very noisy room for vocals personally I think both of these are really great microphones if you're gonna record hip-hop pop or rock I recommend getting the u87 because of the more warm sound that you get I feel like the tops and the bottoms of the u87 are just polished and I do feel like they both sound very similar But the u87 sounds more polished and stuff like that. I still think the teal and 103 is a really great microphone It does sound a little bit more brighter at times and you know comparing the two and re-recording some of my own songs I just noticed that the teal and 103 can really just sound a little bit more harsh and more airy than it should let me Know in the comments which microphone you're gonna pick up if we're getting help so far

 I'm just going to show you which microphone I'm using at the time Make sure you guys check out themusicgame. Some people might say is more harsh and stuff like that But really it's just a more modern sound that Norman was trying to give to people now when you get a u87 You might think it's a little bit more dull because it's not as bright as the telen 103 and what I've experienced with the Norman U87 I feel like it has more polished low-end and you can see that with these Frequency responses that I'm showing you on the screen now what I've noticed with the telen 103 and this extended range It doesn't take plosives very well there have been times where I had a pop filter on this microphone at a great distance and it Still gets those plosives extremely harshly sometimes I got to retake some of those takes because of the plosives and I'm one of those guys when I'm saying my P's and My B's and sometimes even the S's it gets into the capsule extremely easily now when I'm recording with both of these microphones I do notice that with the telen 103 you do get less of the room noise versus the u87 And I'm not sure if it's because the u87 has two capsules in it And maybe the capsule in the back is like, you know turning on here and there or something like that I'm not sure. My arm is already getting tired when you're looking for a microphone There are basically four important things You got to understand the build quality the sound quality the price and who are they for first? Let's talk about the build quality. Both of these microphones are basically built with somewhat the same materials They feel the same the of course The telen 103 is a lot lighter than the u87 both of these microphones have the exact same capsule But the u87 has two of these capsules the telen 103 only has one the telen 103 Also is a transformerless microphone versus the u87 having a transformer inside of it The reason Norman made a transformerless microphone because at the time a lot of people were using Transformer microphones and inside of their studio equipment a lot of that stuff had transformers in it So a lot of people just wanted something different. They felt like transformers were making their music sound worse So at the time transformers microphones became very popular which is why Norman decided to release their telen 103 series and made the Norman telen 103 right now have both of these microphones plugged directly into my Apollo 2 and X using the Neumann 1073 unison plug-in and let me know how you think it sounds so I'm gonna go ahead and plug both of these into the hardware And then come right back and at the bottom

Neumann U87 Ai Mic Review / Test (Compared to NW700, AT2020, NT1, SM7b, KSM44a, C414 XLII)

 This is about 4,500 in Canada. This one's about 500 in Canada. One 10th the price, give or take. Now we have the TechZone Audio Products Stellar X2 versus the Neumann U87 AI

 And here we get to prove that the specs are not the most important thing on a microphone. This is a condenser microphone with the cardioid, omni and figure eight polar patterns. It's 20 Hertz to 20 kilohertz. It has an SPL of 117 DB or 127 DB with the pad enabled

 Smells good, right? It was a thing, and it would perfectly explain the differences. But I don't know about you, I would rather not have that on my mic. I mean, it is a Neumann. It's built like a tank, but you should probably not be rough with it because it's a month's salary for a decent career

 I mean, once again, of course, this is good. There's a reason it's in every studio that's worth its salt, but it does beg another question. Do you need this microphone if you're in voiceover or starting your own studio? No. In fact, I saw a post the other day of actors reading lines for a Disney movie and they were using a Rode NT1

Why is The NEUMANN U87ai The Most Sought After Mic

 It sounds really amazingly good on vocals of all types. From a higher pitched soul vocalist to deep R&B to fast paced rap to lead pop vocals, this piece shines and sounds incredible in the mix. I lowered my expectations before I heard it because I wasn't planning on being blown away by the sound of this mic. But I was! It sounds like it has a built in de-esser and captures so much DETAIL

  TL;DR it's amazing but there's no good reason to pay for a new one when a decent or better condition used unit sounds the same.

 Get good analog preamps first and a good room/booth to match. I'm using a 4-710d with a host of UAD plug-ins like the 1176 and Pultec EQ and it sounds amazing. I would like to pick up a vintage Neve 1081 but that'll run into the 5 figures for a pair. As long as your preamp is professional quality it should do the trick

 Just like the SM58, there's a video of this thing being run over by a tour bus so you can be sure that dropping this thing isn't gonna break it and it's not gonna ruin your day. As far as specs, this thing has a cardioid polar pattern, a frequency response of 40 hertz to 15 kilohertz, a sensitivity of negative 56 decibels and an impedance of 150 or 310 ohms. Now I'm passing the microphone between my hands to illustrate what kind of handling noise you can expect out of this microphone in a live situation. Now I'm spinning around the microphone to determine what the actual polar pattern is and how the audio changes as we move around the mic's capsule

 If you are interested in this mic, it'll set you back around 100 bucks as per usual, links in the description. And for this review, I have the mic connected directly to the 2i2 2nd gen, I will do no post processing but I may boost the audio in post so check the doobly-doo for that information. Now let's go ahead and talk about what comes in the box. You're obviously gonna get the microphone, you dope

 So when it comes down to it would I recommend this thing? Yes it's a hundred bucks. It will likely outlast you. You can get SM7B like tones with some accessories. It's great for podcasting with some accessories and for live instrument micing it is amazing because it does so great at background noise rejection and on electric guitar

 You get a zippered pouch which offers little to no cushioning, you get a microphone clip and I do not recall if it comes with a 5 eighths to 3 eighths inch microphone stand adapter and you get some documentation that I no longer have. As far as the build quality, what else can I say but this microphone is an industry standard for a reason. The majority of this mic is metal but at the top you do have a little bit of plastic that you should be aware of. It's an end address microphone and on the bottom you find the XLR port

Shure SM57 Dynamic Mic Review / Test

I’ve used this and a Shure SM57 next to each other and the similarities in quality was astounding. For either vocals and podcast/streaming, the $100 SM57 is a great pick if you like dynamic mics and don’t wanna break the bank on the SM7B. Also make sure your interface has a decent pre amp if you want it to get enough gain for your use case.

For the purpose of background noise rejection I can easily recommend the Shure SM57 (or SM58) and if you pair that with a Native Instruments Komplete Audio Interface you will have yourself a really solid setup for a modest price all things considered. SM57 - 130$ CAD.

why does my mic sound like its made for asmr????

 You don't have to stick this thing up to your mouth to be heard, even when whispering. Everything comes through loud and clear and so natural sounding. I play sitting on a stage stool with the mic a few inches in front of my strings, pointing at my face. It amazed me the first time I tried it

 Still does. With the pop filter, I can hand-hold it as close to my mouth as I want, and no pop. I will probably still get the SM-58 one of these days, but don't need it with this one, just want it. If you don't have one of these mics, just buy one, you'll love it
