The Higo no Kami folding knife has a long history in Japan dating back to the late 19th century. A blacksmith is said to have added a simple lever to a minimally designed pocket knife to aid in opening and closing the blade and to set it apart from other knives. The knife proved to be successful and a guild was formed to oversee the manufacture of the knife. Only those belonging to the guild were allowed to manufacture the knife to specification and use the trademarked name "Higo no Kami". The term "Higo no Kami" means "Lord of Higo" in Japanese, in honor of the Lord of the Kyushu area of Japan, where the knife originated. Today, each Higo no Kami knife is still handmade by the last remaining maker in the guild, Nagao Seisakusho.

If you're going with something crazy, like some sort of Damascus steel blade, or you're doing a San Mai blade or something like that, then you'll end up paying upwards like 400 or 500 bucks I've seen online. But something simple like this is all you need. And I think bringing all those other aspects to it like Damascus and San Mai and anything like that is just taking away from the beauty of this blade

 I have no idea what it says because I can't read Japanese, but it is stamped on here and it's stamped on the blade. And I believe it, it's pretty much just a maker's mark on it, who it's made by or what company it's made by. Because I know some of the other companies stamp different things like Musashi stamps theirs with made by Musashi company, just shit like that. But overall, it's a really small, elegant little knife

 This is just the small zip tie, because if thighs are useful for everything - and this prevents it from popping out I've seen other things with paracord, you could of course use kind of a sheets or something like that. But you cannot just toss this in your pocket and expect not to stab yourself that's kind of crappy. I mean there's a reason that every damn knife ever has some kind of a detent, and so especially with this lever here, just inexcusable in my personal opinion. Um next issue with it is that the build quality is just terrible

These are just very simple, very, very bones: its mystery fold, a piece of steel, make a carbon steel blade, pin no locking mechanism just that friction folder and it you know any good on the sharpness first, oh of course it is look at that yeah

Victorinox (Swiss Army Knife) Pioneer -will last a lifetime and can be passed down. It’s all metal, very classy. Not American made, Swiss made.

My husband turns 40 next month, and I’d like to get nice him a long-lasting (preferably American made) gift.  I’m not talking sports car or anything, but we do okay and it doesn’t have to be inexpensive.  I just want to get him something that will give several years of joy and use. Owning this model Swiss Army knife is like having a miniature toolbox on your belt.  This is the third Victorinox Swiss Army SwissChamp pocket knife that I've owned. I carried the last two SwissChamps in a black leather Victorinox Pocket Knife Clip Pouch (B000HJKT9Q)

 This leather case has a belt loop, rather than a clip. Before I ordered this pouch, I read a number of the many great reviews on Amazon. One of the reviewers, "Tool Collector," noted that the SwissChamp was a tight fit in this case, and that the case was made of dry stiff leather. "Tool Collector" suggested using Neatsfoot Oil to soften the leather of this case

 Wanting to avoid scratching the new knife's shinny new ABS scales, I purchased a bottle of Neatsfoot oil to have on hand for when the new case and knife arrived.  When I received my new SwissChamp, and the Swiss Army leather case, I was disappointed to see a number of large scratches on both of the ABS scales (grips). The SwissChamp, which arrived in a sealed Victorinox cardboard box, wasn't wrapped in a protective layer of tissue paper, or anything else. While I'm not sure how the scratches actually happened, I suspect it may have occurred during shipping

Beautifully Made, Compact, Multi-Tool

 I would recommend the purchase of the applicable leather sheath. Although the knife is not excessively heavy it is a little bulky and more suited to belt carry for EDC use.

I would gladly have paid a little extra to get the magnifying glass holder made of stainless. Oh well, hope I don't break it. And (2:) The Price. I paid at the time about $73 which is a lot but to be honest, even though you get a lot of functions, it seems a bit steep
