 Here anyway, i'm wondering there's a couple posts here that aren't being used. I think somebody took the wire wrap off these posts and attached the wires here and does it look like i don't know it's hard to tell if the switch has been removed. Let'S uh take that switch out. Let'S see if you can follow along with what i'm doing here, i'm just gon na use some solder braid on this

 Maybe taking a look at this see what they could do. Power switch isn't going to be something that's easy to find for an amplifier of this age and uh [ Applause ]. Our best bet would be a substitution of some kind see we can get here once i get this out somebody's been in here before, because they've cut, they've cut, zip ties and they've left screws out even on the bottom. The bottom panel there's a couple of screws missing, so it's pretty clear what's going on here, somebody was in here before me and we'll we'll get it we'll get it figured out

 This switch so i'll clean all the solder off the top here and i'll pull this cover off. You can see. It here looks like something's, been broken on the end here, and this has been taken apart. I don't know what that is

 This one here and you can see this cap, it got roasted and the heat shrink shrunk even more. Let'S test this one, even though they uh look terrible. This is a 10 microfarad, 100 volt cap, even though it uh that looks terrible. It still comes up at 10 microfarad, but it has an esr

NAD 3140 Integrated Amplifier - Repairs

These are Acoustic Research 90's from 1981!  They have been re-foamed and sound amazing!  Paired with a Rega p2 a cambridge phono stage, NAD 3140 (love) , and an emotiva xpa-2 490 Watts per channel into 4 ohms.  Listening to meddle by pink floyd right now.  The clarity is UNREAL!  The people at Acoustic Research were absolutely geniuses!!! Very happy to be able to enjoy this amazing piece of history!  Definitely beats the yu4 by kanto I had previously.  It's like night and day!

Those look like Innersound/ Sanders Sound System speakers. Innersound was the first to do electrostatic speakers as far as I know. Any ways whatever they are they will sound amazing as most electrostats do.

I’ve finally arrived. Ladies and Gentlemen, my first big boy speakers.

 This is a symmetrical topology, not sure what that means, but it does look cool. All I can say is that after listening to this with different speakers, whether it was the Micah RB42s, these Elec debut reference, my Wharfedale Denon 85th anniversary, they all sounded good. I didn't have listening fatigue, it just made me want to turn it up and listen for longer periods of time. So the Yamaha AS501, I love this thing

 If you're interested in specs, I did do an unboxing video where I read through some of the most important specs, and I'll link to that right there. As far as the looks on this thing, I love the way it looks, it looks old school, anybody who disagrees, you're wrong, I'm just kidding. It just reminds me of my Marantz receiver, it had a silver face, this has a silver face, it's aluminum on the front, I think it looks awesome. The only thing that it's missing, and I'm nitpicking here, is I wish it had VU meters, they do have it on some of their more expensive models

 All of these are wireless and offer active noise cancellation. List of the sweepstakes and the products will be down in the description. So Yamaha sent this out and I've been testing it out for the past few weeks. This is going to be about my personal experience with this amplifier, and there are a few things that I wasn't able to test out

 If you’re running a “standard” turntable setup, this amp’s phono stage will treat you very well.

There are a host of analog inputs and outputs, as well as a decent headphone output. I say “decent” because it does have high output impedance, which means it will cause some frequency response issues with certain headphones. It gives my Sennheiser 58x headphones a bit of a bass boost as a result, which I don’t mind, but people who fuss over headphones will want to use a standalone headphone amp via the amp’s analog outs. I find it odd that plugging headphones into the port shuts off audio to the speakers, and I wish I could leave my headphones connected to the amp at all times

 It gives my Sennheiser 58x headphones a bit of a bass boost as a result, which I don’t mind, but people who fuss over headphones will want to use a standalone headphone amp via the amp’s analog outs. I find it odd that plugging headphones into the port shuts off audio to the speakers, and I wish I could leave my headphones connected to the amp at all times. Oh well.

The amp has plenty of power and current, driving my relatively inefficient C-Note bookshelf speakers to very loud levels with ease and without distorting. In a time where many integrated amps are forgoing tone controls in the name of passing an audiophile purity test, Yamaha have gracefully included them here, along with an adjustable loudness contour. This knob is a godsend, allowing the user to compensate for the shortcomings of the human ear’s natural frequency response at lower listening levels by filling out the low and high end, so that even if you’re keeping things quiet, you’ll hear a full, pleasing balance of sound that’s adjustable to your needs. And, should you want to take all of those nasty enjoyment-enhancing impurities out of the signal path, just press the “Pure Direct” button

 The left and right channels have been organised symmetrically inside too from input to output so this should help to ensure a more precise stereo image. And finally it's made the chassis really rigid to prevent as much resonance as possible so that includes a really tough bass and a solid centre bar. Now the look itself on the front hasn't changed. We've got the same volume and input dials, a pure direct button for getting the purest signal

 We've got optical and coaxial inputs so that means you can hook up something like a TV or a Blu-ray player to this stereo amp. And over here this might look like a regular USB input but actually it's saved just for optional accessories so something like the YBA-11 Bluetooth adapter which will make this a Bluetooth ready stereo amplifier. Down here we've got the subwoofer out which is fairly unusual for a model at this kind of price point. We've got an auto power standby switch so if you have that sector on the unit will turn off automatically after eight hours

 Holy cow. I was never sure about the clarity of the syballs ets, I am now. Every instrument is crystal clear as is every voice. No distortion or overlao of any kind

Astoundingly crisp and clear

First off, I've been using vintage equipment for a while. The problem is the constant breakdown of 40 year old equipment so i decided to go modern. I didn't want another BPC receiver, I've had two, a pioneer and a Sony, neither of which had any any real output, I had to turn them way up to get loud but was never satisfied with the sound quality, but then I found the Yamaha integrated amp with the silver face. Very clean lines, not cluttered with multiple switches

 A is hooked to the front speakers while the B is hooked to the top firing Atmos speakers. It has a subwoofer output which I attached to a Klipsch K100SW powered subwoofer. I have a large listening room and this set up fills the room with sound that you can feel as well as hear.

It would also be nice if it had the ability to run 3 channels simultaneously so I could bi-wire the front speakers but honestly my sound is impressive.

Another lack is a low volume bass boost, but since the bass is usually at neutral I've found I can turn it up a smidgen to get improved bass at low volume. By doing this and utilizing the Pure Input it is almost like having the bass boost option.
