 I tested the stove with 2 boil tests. Tests 1 was with 2 cups of water in my usual backpacking pot. I set the timer and was amazed when 2 cups boiled in 2.5 minutes

 After 75 seconds, I had a rolling boil.  the lightweight design and the smart carrying case are a nice perk for backpacking. Many similar products provide you with a small bag, which does nothing to protect the stove in your pack. The pot supports fold out to accept a container of decent diameter size

super fast boil time. Wow!

 I'll keep it as an example to others I hike and camp with comparing it to other options.  I have not contacted seller or manufacturer for a refund or new product. I will take 3/3 bad eggs as a sign to use existing better options.

 They do not support themselves upright and placing a pot is tricky without them falling until the pot is in place. Any incline and the pots weight will cause the stands to fall. The stands weight distribution with the angle they are at are poorly designed. If the stands were able to be tightened further without stripping the threads, this wouldn't be an issue until heavy use

Defect, or poor quality product.

 I Bought the Pocket Rocket - I Had this stove which was given to me by my dear old friend. Michelle Oh back in the summer of 2016. I'm not entirely sure who makes this one when I looked on Amazon I found a few different sellers offering it for about 10 bucks, give or take. Well seems to have branded it using their own logos

 specifically the MSR Pocket Rocket version 2 and why? After using this one for almost three years, I Think it's a great option for most people. So as I just mentioned, I've had this stove for almost three years now. During that time I've used it on all of my camping and backpacking adventures in places like Virginia Colorado, New, Hampshire, Iceland, New, York and Maine and so far I have no complaints. However, aside from the MSR Pocket Rocket - there are a bunch of other options out there offering different features at different price points

 so I figured it would be worthwhile to compare the Pocket Rocket to to a couple other competing models. At $45 U.s. the Pocket Rocket tube represents the middle tier of the price range for these kinds of canister stoves

 Then the water finally hit 212°.  My Conclusions: Winner: 1/4 turn: the point where the flame starts to "roar", audiably, seems the sweet spot. Enough heat to actually boil water, and the efficiency is much better (0.055935 GpS) than at more opened valve settings (

Efficient fuel burn

 Oh yeah! Now today we have the new Pocket Rocket - which is replacing the original Pocket Rocket and also it is replacing the micro rocket essentially MSR has taken both of those stoves combined the best features from each one for one stove, and what we are presented with is a very light rocket stove 2.6 ounces for the stove itself, incredibly lightweight, but more importantly, incredibly well performing. So we've touched upon the weight already: 2.6 ounces for the stove by itself, 4

 You're cooking some rice, something like that. The wind gust can't blow it out. One side is protected. It'll keep the fire going

 As you can see here, very, very functional. Not all stoves give you this ability to so easily and accurately control the plate. The last thing that we have to touch upon is price. Forty five dollars will get you this stove right here

There might be lighter-weight stoves on the market, but the MSR PocketRocket Deluxe strikes the best balance between a high-performing stove with excellent simmer control, fast boil times, and an ultralight option for gram-counting aficionados. The piezo igniter is somewhat inconsistent on the PocketRocket Deluxe. Our reviewers found that it worked most of the time but would occasionally experience low functionality &mdash; a common plight with auto-ignitors. This stove also has fairly average fuel efficiency, likely due to having high-output burners.  I like to use PocketRocket Deluxe (w Flat Car Gear Ocelet windscreen) on 2-4 night trips. And in winter I use MSR Windpro2+Ti-windscreen.

So I have a nice Jetboil system.  I mostly just boil water (coffee, ramen, Mountain House or other dinners).  But I keep wondering about switching to an alcohol stove.  What are the reasons not to switch?

Long time backpacker here.  My GF has gotten me into SUV camping in dispersed forest areas.  We are doing some minor tweaks to my car to get it ready, and I am making a kitchen box.  

I have been eyeing a coleman 2 burner stove for a long time.  To be able to brown sausages and make coffee at the same time.  What are the pros/cons of a white gas vs a propane stove?  What other items would you recommend in my kitchen box? So far I have: 8" cast iron fry pan, Percolater, Spices, Oil, spatula, pancake mix.

Coleman 2 Burner- Propane vs White Gas for SUV camper

 Now this MSR Pocket Rocket Deluxe will boil a litre of water in just three minutes 20 seconds, it's really really fast at boiling water. Now I've got to say this MSR Pocket Rocket Deluxe Camp Stove has a three prong pot support, it would have been nice to see for, I must admit that it's spoiled that already, let's just turn that off. Three, it's just, it's not a stable, it's four, but it helps it be really compact but it helps it be really compact. The other thing that I've got a slight issue with with the three prong support is the prongs aren't actually that long, so it's fine for a little mug like this, but if you've got a big pot like a big camping cook set, I think it'd be really unstable to be honest, so just be a little bit wary about that, but it's a backpacking stove when you're using little cook sets with little pots, the MSR Pocket Rocket Deluxe Camp Stove is really good

 It's really tiny, really compact, doesn't take up any space in your backpack whatsoever. So let's not mess about, let's get it out straight away. So it comes in this nice little storage pack, it's really quite smart and here is the MSR Pocket Rocket Deluxe. Now I've used it a few times so it's gone nice sort of rainbow colour but the first thing you'll see pop out, you've got a regulator here and what that does, it helps control the flame when it's like cold or when the gas is running out so it just helps

 Right, so just to finish it off, a bit of posh ground coffee, get a big old spoonful in there, don't mess about, and I've bought a little bit of milk just in one of my Nalgene bottles, so I'll just use all that and that's it. Now this MSR Pocket Rocket Deluxe retails £80, that's a lot of money to be honest, a little camping stove for £80 is a huge amount of money, however you rarely see it £80 in fairness, it's usually got some sort of discount, but my main issue is, is competition, one from MSR themselves, their original Pocket Rocket 2 is just so good, it's really really good value for money, so do you need the Pocket Rocket Deluxe instead of a Pocket Rocket 2? The other thing is the Soto Windmaster which is less than this and to be honest, I think it might be a little bit better, but I shouldn't take anything away from this Pocket Rocket Deluxe, it really really is a good backpacking stove, but my final summary of this Pocket Rocket Deluxe review is, if you like MSR stuff and there's loads of people out there that do, because it is good quality gear, there's no doubt about it, if you like MSR stuff and want their best camp stove, get this, because it is really really good, I really like it, I've used it but this is time number four, it's pretty perfect to be honest as far as camping stoves go, so yeah it's a cracking bit of kit, so what I'll do, I'll put all the information about this camping stove in the description, I'll put links to the website and also if I see somewhere that's selling this discounted, I'll put that in the link too, but I hope you got something out of this review, please check out my other videos and hope to see you camping soon, cheers.
