 So the pack has a day-pack included that attaches inside the pack for ease of use and it has a clip inside to attach your bladder inside the day-pack. This is all and good however I don't really plan on using the day-pack and that bladder clip is the only one in the pack. So if you remove the day-pack you lose your mounting point. I found an easy fix that being some Velcro tape stuck together fed through an exposed portion of the metal frame at the top of the inside of the pack that allows me to hold a bladder in place (A zip-tie worked as well but is much less practical)

 So far I can only give initial impressions as my only real use thus far was a 3 mile overnight trip to the upper twin lake on Mt.Hood about a 3 mile hike. It performed pretty well for that but I still yet to put it though some more punishing things like get caught in a rainstorm to truly test how well it holds up in more undesirable circumstances. The sizing is a touch big but that was to be expected as I'm very thin but with a broad build making sizing of clothes and packs a little more challenging

My first real backpacking pack and its almost perfect

Ordered mine on sale in late spring, taken it on a handful of 10+ mile out & backs and a 20 mile summit so far, overall I’d say really great bag i’d expect nothing less from mountain hardwear. Excels in comfort, ventilation, and overall layout in my opinion compared to similar options from Osprey & REI brand bags, although a bit more spendy. The fit was pretty true to size, I have a 19” torso and 32” waist and the S/M fits me great. The sliding lumbar support really sells it for me, keeps the pack considerably more balanced and stable especially on more technical terrain

 The pack has held up well enough in both the rocky high desert as well as alpine bristlecone forests over my first season with it. The detachable day pack turned out to be a lot more useful than I originally expected when I ordered this pack, Great for small day hikes or dropping your main pack at camp to summit with the daypack. Daypack is pretty comfortable with a 3L bladder although a chest strap would be nice. Biggest gripe I’ve seen about the bag is the front mesh pocket, it hasn’t been a tear concern for me personally even in pretty thick brush, and I hardly use it for anything but wrappers anyway so rain getting the contents wet is not a concern for me either

 So what I like to do usually too is pack clothes between the jugs and that way they don't move around and shift and then we have a pillow for sleeping so we'll just put that right on top just like that and then you tighten it with this so it's nice and snug and you can put these down and clip these up all right. So then there is a top compartment too. and I usually like to put snacks and stuff in there. So right now what we love for hiking is freeze dried meals and then clif bars too just for something to munch on

 It doesn't press against your back and it also is just super breathable too. So now we'll go through all the compartments of the pack and that way you can see everything about it all right. So inside the pack if you guys can see that, lots of storage for stuff, even have a little compartment here you can put stuff in. So I like to put my sleeping bag on the bottom and so we'll grab this one

 and then we'll move around to the back of the pack and there's nice places here that you can put your phone, you can put other snacks in there and that's on both hips. And another nice thing about this is it has adjustable shoulder straps so this way you can adjust it for, um, whatever feels the most comfortable, and you can also go to Rei and get fitted at no cost to you. This pack also does have a place for a bladder and I don't use one so I don't have a bladder on this one, but it has the hookups and everything for that so I'll put it on for you guys so you can see what it looks like. super comfortable and then always make sure you loosen these before you put it on so we'll just get that tightened up for my hips that way most the weights resting on that

maybe I am just too dang big (fat) for this pack. This review is just based on comfort and not function as I will never be able to tolerate usinging it to test its actual functionality because it is about as comfortable as one might imagine a bear trap, clamped at the hips, would be. Maybe it would be amazing if I lost 65 pounds. I guess the search continues

 I do recommend this pack for people that don't have any back issues to begin with and if you just prefer lots of storage options.

 Easily fits a sleeping bag, a down quilt, an air pad (inflatable), an inflatable pillow, a lightweight tent and a bear canister on the inside. I hiked a week on the John Muir Trail with this pack. I also took it to Washington and hiked the High Divide trail in Olympic for 4 days, hiked the Red River Gorge in KY, hiked with it in the Smokies and also in Utah. You just can't beat it
