The price of a down sleeping bag seems to be creeping up in recent years. Fortunately, the Mountain Hardwear Bishop Pass 30 is bucking this trend. It's filled with a generous 15 oz of 650-fill power duck down that provides significant weight and packed size benefits. At just under 2 lbs for a size Long, this affordable bag is impressively lightweight and well-suited for any type of human-powered travel. It also showed above-average compressibility in our packed size test, despite fairly spacious dimensions that never felt too cramped.
Most casual backpackers probably won't notice the drawbacks of the Bishop Pass 30. Although it is lightweight, it is not quite as light as some of the ultra-premium sleeping bags. The 650FP down insulation is also not as lofty as the higher fill power down inside its more expensive competitors. We think its 30F temp rating is pretty accurate compared to other lower limit EN ratings, but it will lose most of its insulative power if it gets wet, just like any other down bag. Despite these flaws, we believe the Bishop Pass is the best budget sleeping bag currently on the market. 

We believe the astronomical prices of some high-end sleeping bags won't make sense to the average backpacker. For these folks, we suggest selecting a better value, such as the Mountain Hardwear Bishop Pass 30. This is our favorite budget bag because it combines 650 fill power down in a simple mummy design that offers a solid balance of performance characteristics. The warmth-to-weight ratio is impressive for an affordable option, and it packs smaller than other models that provide similar warmth. Its comfort and versatility may not be otherworldly, but they should be high enough to satisfy most shoppers.
The Bishop Pass 30 simply can't match the performance of an ultra-premium sleeping bag. Its goose down isn't as lofty and the nylon lining isn't as supple. There is also a roughly 30% weight disadvantage compared to the lightest high-end models. However, we think most backpackers will hardly notice these drawbacks. Instead, they will probably be happiest settling for the Bishop Pass and using the substantial money they save to upgrade other components of their overnight kit.

The Mountain Hardwear Bishop Pass is an affordable bag that outperformed other similar bags in the mid-price zero-degree field. It has an oversized draft tube and a plush draft collar that is ergonomically shaped to trap heat in and keep cold air out. The DWR-treated shell performed swimmingly in our light rain and soaking testing and withheld from saturation much longer than other products in its class. It boasts a significant amount of fill but isn't overly heavy, thanks to its overall slim shape. 
This bag is a mummy shape that could feel tight for larger users. Our largest testers weigh in at 200 pounds and are six feet tall; they had no problems getting comfortable in every sleeping position. It is heavier than more expensive bags in this temp range; however, for the price, you won't think about the extra ounces, especially if you aren't going too far. This is an excellent four-season bag for car campers or adventurers on a budget. Extra features like a glow-in-the-dark zipper and stash pocket rounded out our love of this bag over the competition.

 The bishops pass in the minus nine format packs down to two pounds: five ounces - and this one. The minus one packs down to one pound, twelve ounces, so once it's in its storage or in its stuff sack, it doesn't take up that much room in your pack. Nor does it take up that much weight for you. So this is a great down sleeping bag

 The minus nine you get into an actual proper draft caller inside this bag. So you've got this extra layer of down that helps eliminate some of those that exchange of air as you move in the sleeping bag and pump air out and pull air in this draft collar helps minimize that so the air that you've heated up doesn't leave the Bags are very comfortable, they are mummy bag, but they are what they call a performance plus so a little wider than a standard mummy bag. So if you're an active sleeper and you move around, you will find these very comfortable. So here's our bishop's pass all packed up in their in their stuff sacks
