  Most of my writing is pretty temporary; to-do lists, phone numbers, or scribbling nonsense just testing a new pen or ink.  The Mnemosyne line has been much more practical for me; I love that I can have high quality paper that's easy to rip out without destroying the notebook lol.

Current state of the Mnemosyne collection. I don't have a problem, I can quit whenever I want...

  If you are using this book with Sharpie Markers or anything like that, I wouldn't suggest it but for an average user, I'd say it would be a good start before shelling out twice as much for a bigger brand name.

Great value for money, fantastic paper, more feedback than rhodia, Clairefontaine, tomoe River or apica (all of those are pretty smooth). So if those papers are too "slippery" for you, midori MD is the paper to go for. Also, they lay open flat, you have good shading, zero feathering or bleedthrough.

So my search is for a simple but elegant black leather cover and dot grid foutainpen friendly-ish paper preferably without a hardcover of its own because it would make it to bulky.

I'm looking for a simple black leather notebook cover and dot grid inserts. I've had anything from Leuchtturm 1917 to Rhodia goalbooks to a Travelers notebook and Filofax and they all have their downsides for me.

I want to start off by saying that after hours of research and comparisons, the Rhodes Goal Book is hands down the best choice for bullet journaling. The paper is perfect, the amount of space is perfect, the flexibility of the cover is perfect, and the durability is perfect. I ordered the product and it came damaged which happens but when I ordered a replacement, it was sent out, said it was delivered and when I got home, there was no package to be found.

I like a lot of things about this - the color, how the soft cover feels, the calendar section in the beginning. However, I think in the future I'll probably go back to the leuchtturm1917 only because it's difficult to write on the left hand pages due to the soft cover. That's my only issue with this. Otherwise I really like it
