It'S a loose fill insulation and it functions much more like down and is about as effective as 700 fill power down

 Marmot uses a synthetic 3m Thinsulate recycled featherless insulation to make the Avant a toasty option that rivals similar jackets, that use 700 fill power down. The big advantages to synthetic insulation are the durability and the ability to hold in body heat, even when wet Wow. I would still pair it with a hard shell for days when precipitation is expected, this jacket will hold up to cold damp New England, winters or a light drizzle on the trail. The outer fabric is a 20 denier, nylon, plain weave, which strikes a nice balance between durability and weight

  I'm 5'2" with an athletic build and big shoulders and have a size medium.  My only complaint about the fit is that it does feel a tad snug in the shoulders, but I knew a large would swallow me everywhere else.  This piece works fine as an outer layer on bluebird days, but is thin enough to become a midlayer underneath a shell if needed.  I have yet to be disappointed by Marmot and this piece is no exception

This jacket is new to me this fall season.  I bought it as an outer layer for the fall and winter, and for throwing on after a cold day on the slopes.  It is very warm for such a light piece. The shell is made of a recycled, double 1.1-ounce mini-ripstop nylon, making it light and comfortable, and one of the tougher shells in the test.

Marmot worked with 3M to offer a line of jackets with its Thinsulate Recycled Featherless synthetic insulation. It’s designed to remain warm when wet and pack like traditional down, in this case emulating 700-fill power down. The jacket’s primary tester said the Featherless doesn’t feel like down upon physical inspection, but certainly looks and packs the part.

 While it layered well, the regular fit held an excess of room through the midsection, and it lifted on the torso during athletic movements. Nevertheless, these issues didn’t overwhelm the general comfort and feel of the jacket, and it was often worn out for casual events and cold days in the truck.

 It'S just a nice little rubber band stays nice and tight around your wrists. You can have a nice watch hidden under there, no problem. You know this will fray a little bit as time goes on, but nicely done really nicely done for a Mormon, and then we have a Marmot logo here. Logo on your chest, the other really cool thing about this jacket is: if you have this down jacket and you want to get a a rain jacket, also from Marmot, let make sure they're the same size

 I'Ve had this for over five years has not leaked at all gore-tex, but what I want to mention in this review, though, is that when you put this on, if they're the same size, it's amazing this almost every time the hood just automatically fits into that did. I make it in there. I think it did no okay, but there we go might be under no, I don't know we'll see, but you put that on and just live it zip. This up

 Let me just go kind of through all the features of the jacket, but first I'll start with the fit, since I have it on in just the way. It feels it's kind of tailored to a kind of an athletic shape. So if you do have a large belly, you might be able to fit in there, but uh. You know it's nicely kind of trimmed to fit
