Enlightened Equipment Torrid Apex

After wearing my new Torrid Apex jacket on an early morning scooter ride to the trailhead, I think this jacket is pretty nice. I'm glad I bought it. I'm unemployed in 8 weeks so hopefully I won't need to buy a jacket for a few years.

Cheap Fleece: Eddie Bauer 1/4 zip Cloud, its like $40-50 and 5.5oz. Puffy: Torrid Apex for 7-9oz, extremely warm for its weight.

I’m planning on buying an Enlightened Equipment Torrid jacket this spring. Half a pound and super warm. My buddy has one and it blows me away how it packs down.

Enlightened Equipment Torrid. Insane warmth to weight ratio, decent price as well. They always do a black Friday if you can hold off (depending on your temp/location/trip plans). This jacket is perfect in every way.

I sold all my jackets and bought a GFG custom down Anorak and a Torrid apex from EE. I have not wanted anything else in almost four years with heavy use.

I personally chose synthetic insulation (Enlightened Equipment Torrid Apex) for a little more wiggle room if my stuff got wet and saw plenty of people using Patagonia Nano/Micro Puffs, Rab Xenons, a variety of lightweight down jackets, etc. Good luck man, it's a big undertaking.

If you are planning to stay the same size, a Torrid Apex is a great jacket, and I use it all the time in Missouri and Arkansas. Personally, I have a Decathlon MH100 fleece, a Torrid Apex, and frogtoggs. That is a good balance even with overnight lows in the 20s, and daytimes in the 30-50's. A Torrid Apex is **$170** A decathlon puffy is like **$80**,

It was totally worth the $12 and I appreciate them suggesting it. BTW the jacket is great and I decided on a Large at 6' 0", 175-195lbs depending on things.

It’s a great rechargeable headlamp, which may ultimately be better for the environment. The Torrid Apex is fantastic (although I hate how shiny my black 10d stock version is).

Check out the enlightened equipment Torrid jacket. They have both a hoody and a pullover. I found mine to be warmer than both my micropuff and nanopuff and MUCH lighter. Still synthetic fill. As others have mentioned- layers are key though.
