 according to Line six, everything around the modeling of amps and effects are newly designed and improved, so all amp, sims, etcetera are completely remade. So it's not an evolution of the pod technology. it's a completely new product or series 45 amps and 70 effects dual DSP processing. so the Helix should be even better feeling than any of the other pod products

 It just has way more options than the previous sought HD models, and it seems that they've actually put the time and effort into the amp and cab models. You don't get the facing issues when combining cabinets and microphones and something that I got on the pod. HD When doing dual cab setups with all the inputs and outputs at the back, you have a lot of options for home recording or any live setup, and because of the four individual effects loops, you can still use your favorite pedals or just use the effects of the unit. If you're using a real amp, it's nice and convenient to have everything set up in one box

 The way I usually go when I'm trying out a new piece of gear like the helix. Line 6 Helix - Metal?

Probably not buying a better amp will significantly improve tone or a  line 6 helix if you can afford it. One problem if you decide to get a tube amp is they don't sound good quiet. The best thing for you  would be to the store and play higher end guitars and amps.

[QUESTION] Buy amp or guitar?

 First and last Line 6 product I will buy based on this experience.  UPDATE - Finally got the unit to a local distributor and they have identified the fault. Line 6 have informed them that it will take 4 month (FOUR MONTHS) to get the spare parts!!! Wow, had the unit for less than a month and now have to wait 4 months to get it repaired. Also, there is absolutely no way to contact Line 6 directly to complain

Buyer Beware! Looks like a quality product but there are issues and customer service is as bad as it gets.

 Like a lot of the Line 6 products, it really promises that you don't have to have a manual to feel your way around this. This is all very intuitive and it works much like the way that we think as guitar players, that you have a signal path, you have an effects chain, where your pedals and your amps sit. So, this is really, really easy. If I just go into a blank patch here, a new preset like this, we have a completely blank screen here, nothing going on at all and what we've got represented here are just two signal paths that I can really put anything in that I like

 Now, where it is at the moment sounds a little bit overpowering. So, simple as this, I've got my distortion pedal selected. I go to action, I can drag this, and if I like, I can put this before the amp. And it sounds a bit more natural

 We have 104 pedals currently and 37 speaker emulations and scenarios that we have. Now, what makes this different and it almost seems like everyone and their uncle is producing a modeler or a profiler. The thing that makes the Helix a little bit different and we'll talk about this in a moment is the virtual circuitry modeling. So, what I mean by that is the depth and the level and the detail that has gone into producing these models

 So, this is really, really easy. If I just go into a blank patch here, a new preset like this, we have a completely blank screen here, nothing going on at all and what we've got represented here are just two signal paths that I can really put anything in that I like. Now, the best thing about this is that we have this massive bank of amps and pedals. When we're loading up stuff, it really does feel like we're going shopping

 And what I recently started doing was I'll create my presets at home with my Helix Floor and then I'll show up to rehearsal and I'll bring my laptop and I'll export my patches at home. I'll dial in like the BPMs and stuff, that's kind of how I run through things. So I basically have a baseline patch and then I run all the BPMs just so that they're exact and I don't have to tap anything. If you compare it to the Helix floor, it's more towards the left

 I feel like when you compare the rounded edges of the Helix floor to the Helix LT, there's actually more of like a rubber side on the Helix LT and it's also squared off. So I feel like just like quickly bending down and grabbing it. It's like I feel like it's way easier and I have to think about it less when I go to like grab it. I feel way more confident with their squared edges than the rounded edges because I feel like it's it's kind of more slippery on the sides

 I think that's the most discussed topic between the LT and the Helix Floor. I've actually had the privilege of using both of these, so I actually play at church.  It's insane. Yeah. I mean, who buys ring modulators? Yeah, 2017, who buys a ring modulator? All the comments are going to be people. So many people saying, you're an idiot, I have a ring modulator, it's the best effect ever

 Yeah, expression pedal, sorry, it's not just a wah. Tons and tons of stuff, it can control multiple parameters. But yeah, it's just a scaled down version, the original Helix floor was a real big chunk of kind of solid aluminium. But yeah, it's still strong, sturdy, it ain't going to break in a hurry, that's for sure

 It's purely just the actual interface that's slightly stripped down, but with that you get a smaller price point as well. Yes, well a price point, which is fantastic, these guys are flying off the shelves, we only have it in a month now, have they been out? Yeah. They've been out in this video, like mid-May 2017, they're absolutely flying off the shelves. And to look at, they are just as pretty as this big brother as well

 Yeah, so if, you know, the other guitar player in the band was louder than you, which we can't have, but you're in the middle of playing, you can't stop playing to bend down and tweak something basically, so you go into pedal edit mode, you get all the stuff in your chain, you select, for instance, volume, you just give yourself more without taking your hands off the guitar, which is great. And with the fantastic thing with Helix, the screen is so big and colourful. You haven't got to bend down in this light, it's like you say. Absolutely

 MIDI input and output allows us to control external gear or to control the Helix LT externally. Next up, we have a USB port. Now, this serves multiple functions for us. First of all, it can serve as an audio interface with your computer

 So many great tones there, so many different effects, so many different amplifiers, and with two signal pads, you can get so much going on. Exactly. You can organize it any way you need to, which is great. Right, exactly

 On the Helix, we have four of those, so in this case, you could either run two pedals or one pedal in stereo. We have stereo XLR outputs for our main outputs, and those can be fed to a recording system or to your live sound PA console. We also have stereo quarter inch outputs for connecting into guitar amps, a headphone output, a Variax input for connecting one of line six Variax guitars. Next up, we have the digital output, which can switch between AES-EBU and with an adapter also be used for speed if digital connections, or you can use that for the L6 connection format from line six

 Connect it up to your computer, and you can record eight channels out or bring eight channels back in. You can also use this to reamp direct tracks that you've recorded into your DAW. MIDI control is available over USB, or you can use the USB port to connect your computer, as I have here, to use the editor software from line six. And this is a great way to be able to see exactly what's happening inside the Helix LT and control it all from your computer
